Luna and I would like to say hello

Hello everyone,

Im glad I found this forum. I been lurking here for a while and finally decided to introduce us.

Luna is an old english sheep/bearded collie mix (hope is okay for us to be here, since she is not full oes) She is a rescue, who was turning to the animal shelter with a severe ear infection and skin allergies. All I know is that she was backyard dog.
Luna will be 9 years old (this Sat) and weights 57lbs. She came to live with us in May of last year. She is very calm, gentle. Her hearing is not too good but if you speak loud she can hear you fine. Toys don’t interest her at all. But she loves to play fetch with a rawhide bone.

She didn’t like women at first. (She might have a bad experience) but I gain her trust and love. Men don’t have that problem, she loves them.

I read about both breed’s they both herding dogs. oes and bearded collies and the kind of have the same look although the oes has more curly hair. Most of oes I’ve seen are mostly white with gray Luna is all black with white sock, chest and tip of the tail. Luna’s hair is not as curly. I will try to post pictures of her.

She has 2 Maltese sisters who are 2 and 2.5 yrs old and 2 Chihuahuas sisters who are 5 yrs old. Poor hubby to many females in the house!!
No human children yet.

I look forward to meeting everyone and learn more about the breed.

Thanks
Kenya, Luna’s mom

Hello Bosley's mom,
Let's see, When Luna was pulled form the AS by the rescue group, she already had a severe ear infection. She was treated by the rescue group vet with a flush medication and antiobiotics(i don't remember the name) When I got her she still had the ear infection but not as bad. she was able to hear better, the first vet tought she was gonna need to have surgery. Furtunately, it didn;t get to that point.
Because the infection was still present for weeks after she came to live with us. I took her to my vet who prescribe a stronger medicine. (sorry I don't remember the name) and that stop the infection right away.

For the skin allergies I switch her food to Natural Balance "allergy formula" which is a duck and potatoe food and help tremedosly. She used to itch so much to the point of bitting her self and start bledding. I think she might be allergic to meat and may be chicken. So far with this food she is doing well and no more scavy(sp?) skin.

If you like I can pm you with the names of the medication she took.
I really hope Dixie get better soon. I used to feel so helpless seing luna scratch so much.
