Flea Prevention Products--What Do You Recommend?

I warned you the questions would begin, now that our rescue boy is home ...

When Quincey was found, he was completely matted and suffering from severe dermatitis due to flea bites. After months of foster care, his skin is mostly a lovely, healthy shade of pink, but as I've been grooming and petting him I've noticed a few bumpy/scabby things that probably are flea bites, so I want to get right on this. Although I haven't used it for a few years, I have used Revolution on Otto in the past. I stopped because (a) I'm paranoid about this stuff because there is so much cancer in BMDs, (b) heartworm is extremely rare in Western Washington, and we don't have many ticks here on the rainy side, either, and (c) Otto thankfully has never had a flea problem, and in fact has very healthy skin and coat. But Quincey needs something because he clearly has a sensitivity to those little buggers. So what are your experiences with the various flea treatments on your Sheepies? I've heard products with ivermectin are to be avoided. Revolution's active ingredient is selamectin, and when I researched the issue a few years ago, it seemed to be the least evil, and at least it took care of three problems (ticks, heartworm, fleas) with one dose. But do Sheepies do okay on it? Or would Advantage be a better choice? Any input would be most appreciated--I don't want my boy to suffer another infestation, but I want to minimize his exposure to toxic stuff, too!

I would use advantage. Last year I found a flea on one of my dogs shortly after we brought in a rescue, so all 3 dogs were treated with Advantage and we never saw another one. I didn't even have to repeat it the following month.
Two years ago, we had our first experience with fleas in 25 years. So the 4-foots are on Advantage starting in February and going through September.
When we actually had the fleas, we used Capstar to kill them immediately.
advantage here all the time and our breeder too
when I first got Daisy and took her to the vets, he recommended Frontline which we used for the first 3-4 mos but wtih regular use, flea baths and everything else I could think of, we still had a flea problem so bad it was driving ME nuts. The vet finally switched her to advantage and we haven't had a problem since. Here in TN, it is recommended that they stay on it year round, with Interceptor for heartworm year round.
Hate the idea of giving all these meds, but have decided that it's better than the alternative.
We don't have many fleas, but ticks are our big bugger. We use Frontline.
Frontline plus!!
I used Frontline but we had a bad experience after using it once so now i use advantage.
Here in Louisiana the fleas are horrible and extremely bad. Not so much with ticks. We give Lucky a bath once a week use Advantage and supplement with Capstar pills when he is in full coat or as needed.
