Okay! I listen to whatever my mood is but my 5 favorites.....
1. Josh Groban 2. Keith Urban (Live, it's more rock n roll) 3. Phil Collins 4. Sevendust 5. Metallica So yeah, I listen to pretty much everything! Even Latino!!!!!! |
when i was in high school i loved metal and punk music, but ive sort of grown out of that. these days ive been listening to country blues and old rock n roll, but i still listen to a few punk and indie rock bands.
my favorites (lately) 1. muddy waters 2. ryan adams 3. the animals 4. robert johnson 5. the promise ring (im not sure anyone would know them, more of an indie band from milwaukee.. theyre not around anymore but i love them) i also love old rolling stones, elton john, rod steward, led zeppelin, the yardbirds.... basically any old rock n roll! |
ok umm....
Sting(rock) Peter Mayer (folk) Sarah Mc Lachlan (moody feminist ) Chieftans (Celtic) King Singers (Chorale) it's hard to narrow it down, but those groups/artists typify what I generally listen to. I love our public radio station here in MN (I'm a member!!!), we have a great program that does now only a station of news, and a station of classical music, but also "the current" which plays folk/world music in the mornings and modern rock the rest of the time! It's wonderful!!! |
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Now we're getting into CONTROVERSIAL stuff!
I can't SUM IT UP! I'm sorry, I'm breaking the rules! This is as close as I can get to being brief. I haven't thought about "what I listen to" in so long. I haven't driven for any length of time in years, the talk shows go on when I drive for a half hour -- it's the only time I listen to the radio. I guess I might dive into my CD collection -- been collecting CDs since the 80's. I had what was an enormous collection back then -- they were EXPENSIVE! But it was my indulgence. I had a "portable" CD player (it was huge!) and a whole bunch of CDs in my briefcase. Maybe a paper or two. I have lots of classical music; Beethoven's 4th and 7th by vonKarajan comes to mind; Stravinsky's The Firebird and the Polovetsian Fire Dances was a favorite. Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano by Claude Bolling and Jean Pierre Rampal was an absolute favorite. For a while it seemed that every PBS documentary on dying birds used one of the tracks from that CD. I have all the Billy Joel music prior to his attempt at classical which I haven't even heard yet. Pavarotti's disc "Mama" is a favorite. Show tunes! Love'em. Guys and Dolls, the Pajama Game. I have a copy of the "original Broadway Cast" of Guys and Dolls from the 70's... Robert Guillume playing Sky Masterson (It was the Original All African-American cast! I got "sucked in" buying it, but it's a great version, I love it!) Fats Waller is a favorite; I saw "his" musical "Ain't Misbehavin'" on Broadway back in the late 70's with Nell Carter. When she started singing, I thought she was kidding! It had to be a joke! But no, it was her voice allright, and after waiting for the punchline and realizing there wasn't one coming, I sat back and enjoyed the show a whole bunch! It went on to get the Tony for Best Musical that year, I think it was 1978. "Black and Blue" is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs. Fred Astaire treated songs well, and I like listening to the songs he made famous. As I've aged, I've developed a new appreciation for some of the Beatles music (I can do Rocky Racoon front to back... ready?).. and Lenon's Double Fantasy album was wonderful (minus the crud from Yoko), and quite sad after he was shot. Eric Clapton "Unplugged" was wonderful, especially "Tears in Heaven". That tugs really hard at the heartstrings, knowing the background of the song. I love George Strait and some of the older Country Western stuff. "Ocean Front Property in Arizona" was a great humor song. I still think of it often! In Rap, Eminem and Slim Shady was a hoot! (Wanna hear me do Slim Shady, Juvenile's Back that "Thing" Up, or Kelly doing "Milkshake"??) Joan doesn't go much for the HipHop, but I like to hear it about once a month. What can I say? I like most everything. Thanks for bringing this up. I spent most of an hour thinking about this and smiling the whole time. I even went on the net and listened to "Milkshake" for the heck of it! I had a good chuckle, and Joan heard it (we're in the same office) and says she now wants a Milkshake. I'm not sure how to break it to her... |
My tastes in music are quite diverse, however, I would say I mostly listen to alternative these days.
To sum up my favorites: -Nickleback -Lifehouse -Our Lady Peace -Bryan Adams -Depeche Mode (not very diverse at the moment LOL) |
Ron
I'd pay money to see you sing the Milkshake song. Even more to see you dance to that. I think I may have to lock this thread now since you've violated my rules. Not that I even have that power. |

I think the motion is called the "Cat Scat"? If I remember, the first time I saw it was on Star Search? Both arms in the air and an indulating motion.... hard to explain... but I did it here for Joan.... well sort of. She wasn't impressed. Then again, she did express an interest for a milkshake afterwards. |

That is hilarious. I don't even want to know if there's some hidden meaning in all that. What's a milkshake? /kelly pickler (you have to watch american idol) |
