OES Teenage Rebellion?

Bailey is 15 months old now and just this week he's morphed into a nightmare. Sunday morning before I got up he chewed up one of my cutest sandals. AAAGGGHHH! Not the shoes!!!! He never chews on stuff that isn't his. Monday he was laying here at my feet, apparently a good puppy, when I looked down and noticed that he had put aside his bone and had just started gnawing on another one of my shoes. Fortunately I caught that one before it was too late. This morning, I was on my way out to pick up the paper and stepped in a huge puddle by the front door. 8O WHAT? This dog hasn't peed in my house in 9 months. We let him out normal time last night and got up normal time this morning.

Any thoughts? Do dogs go through teenage rebellion? Because I'm pretty consistent about following the NILIF approach already. I sure hope this is a phase

(And any thoughts on how to discipline my husband, who is the supposed master of this puppy? As I was cleaning up Lake PeePee, I made a comment about taking away Bailey's water in the evening like we used to do when he was little. And Tim, who was NOT COVERED IN PEE, says in a horrified voice "You can't do that - he'll dehydrate!" I was standing in ten gallons of pee! This dog is nowhere near dehydrated!)

Im sorry, I shouldnt be laughing...especially about the shoe....I think they do go through a rebellion stage....I know Panda did...but I think I purposely blocked out what she did.....you know what this means though? Shoe shopping!!!! and just be thankful that Bail's did it on the tile and not the carpet or rug!!! Saturday Panda will whip that boy back into shape :D
Yes, they (Barney) go through a rebellious stage. Barney kind of did (does) his in spurts where we'll have a few days of horrid behavior and then he's back to normal. Hang in there...and yes, go shoe shopping! They have the best shoes at DSW right now...
I certainly hope that's what it is! Zeke (14 mo) has been doing
horid stuff for 2 weeks. Chewing my son's toys, peed AND pooped,
suddenly decided he'd go for an unauthorized walk, and has been
unrelentless in tormenting poor Tucker, (who has really had enough~!)
I hope this is short lived!

Oh my gosh - this post just makes me thing forward in time - by the time I have a teenage pup you'll be out of it and able to coach me through it!! Good luck with everything!!
It sounds like the same thing we've had going on here. It comes in spurts. Sometimes he's wonderful and some days, it's like he's reverted to puppy hood with zero training.

I just keep saying to myself (and the plants, shoes, remotes, etc he's destroyed), "This too shall pass". :D
Pepsi went through it a few months after we got him. I couldn't believe how such a good boy could be so bad. He ate Daddy's flip flops  Of course it had to be his favorite pair. He ate an entire 12 pack of Toilet Paper and I caught him starting to eat my flip flops. He also peed on the carpet. Luckily it passed and he was back to himself.
Oh dear, if only we could adopt them out as teenagers and get them back when they are mature, same goes with 2 legged uprights too
OH NO! :D
I'm assuming these dogs are neutered? Uncut boys may smell a girl in the neighborhood and have brain short circuits. Recently cut boys will also remember the smell. And yes, they all go brain dead during their teenage months......not just sheepies. Pyrs do it too.
Yes, Bailey is neutered. I think he's just seeing if he can shake things up a bit and move himself up in the pack.. Poor puppy, as an only dog in a house with no full time kids he's always at the bottom of the totem pole  He'll feel better this weekend when my stepsons are here.

But, he'll be sleeping in his crate for awhile to ensure that I don't start my day cleaning up after him
I have nothing to add for now except a BIG LAUGH, as I was reading about all these teen age deliquents , I almost fell out of my chair laughing, :D They are so funny !

My two 13 week olds are just perfect and do nothing wrong, (HA HA)
can't wait for REALLY GOOD STUFF.

LMAO, I've been there , but it's so much funnier when it isn't your dog :D
