Arizona OES?

I am looking for a teaching position in Arizona and I have a 3 1/2 year OES named Otis. I have been looking in the Phoenix area and I am concerned about the heat and Otis. Is there anyone out there who has a Sheepie in Arizona? If so, what is it like? Any information would be appreciated.

YES! WELCOME!!! Don't dismay, we have a few OES on the forum that live in AZ. I'm sure they will chime in throughout the day.
Sheepdogs do fine in Arizona. Walk them early in the morning or late at night in the summer and let them lounge about on cool tile floors during the day. The rest of the year is great for everyone. I keep mine in a puppy cut, but that is more a grooming thing that a weather-related one. Of course, never leave them in the car during the warm season - even for a few minutes. It's against the law in Tucson. If you want to walk during the day, take them to PetSmart.
Hi...I live in Phoenix and Panda does just fine...I keep her in puppy cut also....during the hottest part of the summer, she is inside all day long...we go for walks once the sun goes down, so that the cement isnt too hot on her feet. Panda drinks about 3 bowls of water during the summer, so be sure to check the bowl often...and Karen is right, dont ever leave your pet in the car even with the windows rolled down...its too hot here...in fact, Panda only gets early am and pm rides now...and its only April. You'll be amazed to see the difference from day to night...during the hot day, Panda is a lazy sleepy slug, but once the sun goes down, watch out....the playful pup is back in action!
There are quite a few sheepdogs in Arizona. They can be found from the low deserts to the higher elevations. Since sheepdogs consider themselves human, they must live inside with you and be protected from the sun and heat just as you must protect yourself.

BTW..........Karen?? Is that Q?
You'll do fine in a hotter enviroment. Where I live in summer we get over the 100's a lot. Girls are walked early in the morning or after the sun goes down. They are both in full coats and during the hot months they are in airconditioning during the day. Sometimes in summer here the air is on all night if the temperature does not drop overnight. During the day they just go out quickly for potty breaks then back inside in the cool. :D
Yep, that's The Q.
