Don't think that i am shallow...

but is it possible to train your dogs to NOT to lick at you every time there is available skin in the vacinity  Koda just licks and licks and licks and licks till you have to get on to him. He is just being a dog, so it is really unfair to scold him for doggy behavior. Oh ya this only started about a month ago. Maybe it is something in his diet, i read that cheasee's need to have about 19% protein in their diet, we feed kibbles and bits such and such. So it has everything he needs. Somebody tell me if it is just wishfull thinking for me to love on Koda without the bath?!?!?!

Mulligan had a nasty habit of every time he came up to me, he gave me one lick on the back of my hand. Every time.

Just a consistent "no lick" and pulling away and turning away from him when he did this and voluminous praise when he didn't and he stopped. But this guy is a very smart one, seemingly.

About a week or two ago, he did it two times in a row, but after a quick "no lick" he remembered his training and now just comes and stares up at me, and turns to give me his butt when I acknowledge his existence. :D
we have been trying that but my wonderful fiance :? has a hard time sticking to the command. He just push him away and be mad about it instead of being patient 8O So i am trying to "train" the two males in my life to be more polite :D It is hard to stay with the command b/c of how our entrance to the front door is. The dogs have full run of the entire yard including the wlkway to the front door and gate. So you are trying to get in the house, make sure they stay in the yard and bring in who know shwta from the car.... I know i know, consistency is key, but is such a pain in the rear

We see alot of dogs with this problem at work. If you can train them that's great. If you can't there is a medication that helps alot of dogs called Clomipramine.

Of course there are going to be people that don't like meds, but some dogs do this to the point of licking all the way to their bone. It also helps with agressive dogs as well. It's like a doggie prozac, it just takes the edge off.

You would need to talk with your vet and get info if you are interested.
Ahhh poor little doggie  It's natural for them to want to lick us isn't it. That's how they show their love. but, yes it can be annoying all the time. I don't care for it either. As Ron as already said a stern no each time should do the trick.
My husband is having a chat with Jasper about licking right now. Since he mostly licks hands, arms, legs, it doesn't bother me too much.
