Puppy Coming Soon!

Hi, Everyone! I just want to let you know that we have decided not to take in one of Kaye's puppies. The good news though is that, yes, we are getting a male puppy in TWO WEEKS! Hubby and I have put a lot of time & thougt into our decision and feel that we are making the right choice. Due to Annie's food aggression issues, we came to the conclusion that a dog with known breeding lines would be best for us. I know there isn't a "guarantee" with personality from anywhere; however, we do hope that this will give us a leg up. I have been a complete nervous wreck while making this decision. I am known to overthink things and am a bit of a pessimist. This serves me well as I'm overly surprised when the best does occur. So onto making arrangements to make our way either via car or plane to Michigan (about 6 hr drive) to pick out our pup and come home. We've never raise a puppy together so this is a brand new experience for us. I'm so glad that I found the forum as I'll be asking questions about the pup. Pictures aren't online yet, but I'll post when they are available. :D

OMG!!!!!!
I can't wait to see pics, and hear all about him! Another puppy for us all to oooo and ahhh over...!!

2 weeks will now be dragging on for someone on this list :D

And you are right to mull over things. Rash decisions sometimes are not the best.

Look how long it is taking us to decide whether or not to adopt Dixie? (But that belongs in an entirely different thread)

How exciting for you!
Wow, Congrats!!!
Awwww stacy how wonderful. Two weeks to go, boy that is gonna feel like forever!! Annie will be fine, you will find that an older bitch is usually great with a baby puppy. You might even find that it will bring out all sorts of wonderful things in Annie, a maternal instinct sort of kicks in when it is a baby puppy coming into the family.

Wishing you all great and loving things with this new lil man and I am sure all will get along really well. Can't wait to see piccys of the puppy.

Have you any names picked out yet?
Congrats!!! :)
Congratulations! I'm glad that you took the time to really think over your decision - it was a tough one for sure! Good luck - can't wait to meet new pup!

We're thinking of Teddy or Fozzie (from the Muppets).
Ooooh love the name Fozzie, my friends sheepie boy is nicknamed that and he looks like a big teddy bear too :D
oh yay  :go: another sheepie to ooooooh over its makin me want another puppy to.
Stacy, how exciting! I can't wait to see pictures! I like both those names...
congratulation... new baby puppy, I jealous.. not really, I'm happy for ya.

:-)
Just got an email that the puppies are actually ready to go home this weekend! I don't know what to do. We just got back from vacation so we can't take any more days off. If we wait until the week in April we thought we'd go pick him up, he'll be too big. Anyone up in Michigan that might want to road trip to Chicago this weekend with a puppy??? I don't know what to do. Just called hubby who is late for work and in no mood to discuss this.
Hey Jill - you up for a road trip?!?!?

I'll help you out, but you get all the blame if I suddenly decide I NEED a puppy!!

Jil
Hey congrats on the puppy!!

I love the name Fozzie...yup..Mr Fozzie Wigglebutt sounds like a very dignified name!

Best wishes to you all

Marianne
I LOVE the name Fozzie!!!! If I were closer, Id help out...but there would be no guarentee that I wouldnt keep him.....you know how everyone has been on me to get another sheepie! :D
Congratulations!!! A new puppy is so exciting. :clappurple:

Where is Michigan is the puppy located?

Amanda
I'm waiting for a call back from Geri, the breeder, in Metamora, MI. Maybe she can meet us half way. Nothing like throwing a monkey wrench into the plans. Steve and I have a very busy few weeks ahead of us with his sister's wedding shower and Mom's 60th birthday. I don't know what I'd to with the puppy during that time. The fesitivities are all day and much too far from home. I think I need to kiss up to a few of my neighbors and my manager as well for more time off. Oh boy! Not in the plans. Starting to wonder...should I just wait until things die down a bit? A breeder locally is planning pups for the fall.
Stacy,
How exciting! It is really up to you whether or not to wait.
Is the name Grover still in the running? I really liked Fozzy too.
I think Fozzie is a great name but I'm a huge Muppets fan.

Just drive up, get the puppy and then take it with you to all the events. People will love it!

Why would the puppy be too big? For the plane or the car? If it's the plane, Toby flew to me at 9 months of age in a 400 kennel and that was to a smaller airport. Most regional airports can handle up to a 400 kennel without a problem. It is also a pretty short flight from MI to Chicago so they wouldn't have to make extra stops or be sitting for long. A couple of us posted some info about flying a dog in the travelling with your dog section if you'd like to read more.
Congratulations on your new puppy Fozzie!!!!!!!!!! :hearts: :hearts:
Go for it Stacy :) I wish I could help you with transport since Geri isn't far from me but we have a major medical crisis with my MIL and I would hate to have to back out on you :( . Fozzie would be very cool name for a puppy :D
Congratulations! How exciting! It definitely seems like puppy fever on the forum. I'm sure Annie will love the new arrival and it will all work out great.
Geesh, I'm away from the forum for a day and a half, and I come back to LOTS of stuff!

Congrats, Stacy, on the new puppy! :high5: I fully understand how you said you over-analyze things cause I do the same thing, but in some instances, you just have to go with your heart and gut. If they tell you it's right with this pup, then go for it!

And I love the name Fozzie, too! Like Mandy, I'm a HUGE Muppets fan.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Chris

I can't control my excitement any longer! i feel like i have ants in my pants and I can't sit still!!! Is this what real excitement feels like??? I don't remember ever feeling like this before. I can't explain it, but I feel like skipping around the office. My mind won't stop...I'm nervous, I'm excited, I'm nervous, I'm excited. I think I'm going to BLOW UP!!! Hubby told me to turn my brain off last night!

How exciting!!!! I wish we could figure out a cross country puppy play date! Pip needs other sheepie babies to play with!!!! I can't wait to see which one she comes home with
Karen, bring Pip to MI, lots of sheepies here to play with :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
WE'RE BACK!!!! That was the most emotional 2 days of my entire life and I thought my wedding made me nuts! I had butterflies in my stomach every 5 minutes from nervousness and excitement. Such a strange feeling. We are both tired and my body is very achy from the drive and from bending a lot. Thank goodness I'm getting a massage on Tuesday.

Here's the synopsis of our wonderful journey:

Packed up the car and left at about 10:30AM CST. Got on the tollway and realized we forgot the camera. Of course, it was my fault somehow . Couldn't continue driving without the camera and couldn't download disposable for everyone! And of course, I remembered the checkbook when we got to Indiana. Had to go to ATM twice to get Geri a down payment. I felt like such an idiot. If she didn't know me, she'd think we were so irresponsible. There was a lot of construction getting from the IL to IN borders. Traffic wasn't exactly light the rest of the way either. We drove into BFUSA (hope you know what that means) or Timbuctu. The drive off the highway to her house was very hilly and the road to her house was unpaved but very pretty. Very country which we're not used to since we're Chicago suburbanites.

We pulled into Geri's driveway at around 6PM CST, talked for a moment, then went to the basement to see 11 heads popping out of the huge pen 8O . It was an amazing and surreal sight to see them all. How were we every to pick just one?! Well, we did. it turns out that she may have counted the sexes incorrectly. We picked from 4 boys which made it just a little bit easier than the 6 we initially thought. We took all 4 boys out (seemed we kept picking up the girls a million times). 2 boys were whiteheads and a little bit more fiesty and mounting the other pups, one was a beautiful large pup who seemed to be more of a lump, and then Fozzie with two black ears. I wasn't sure about him at first int he basement as he seemed more curious than the others. However, he paid more attention to us on his rounds and responded better to us with our little tests (submitted when rolled over, made eye contact briefly, let us pet him without biting, I got kisses...). Steve was leaning towards the lumpy one but we were in agreement once we got the 2 boys (Fozzie & Lump) up to the kitchen.

We left, went to a family type restaurant for dinner that had GREAT cornbread. Yummy! Checked into the Fairfield Inn and passed out. Woke up, ate at the hotel, and went to get our Baby! He was so quiet on the drove home. He spent most of the time in my lap, but managed to get himself situated on the leather armrest for part of the trip. I think the sun was in his face as he was rather persistent in getting up there. We had pillows and towels on the back floor so he wouldn't slide through. So cute! We put one of those smaller fold up travel crates in our bedroom and the large metal crate in the living room for now. Steve will be moving it to the lower level. He slept from 11:00-4:30am without making a peep. He has also gone in and out of his crates throughout the day today to play, sleep, eat. He sleeps A LOT!!! That's normal, right? He has only had 2 tiny piddles which I caught him in the act & rushed out.

Fozzie appears to be a good boy during his 24 hours here. Annie on the other hand....she did snap at him twice when he had one of her stuffies & outside when he was eating leaves. However, there were moments today that we had them together and everything was okay. One of us has been around them at all times. That is why we are pooped watching their every move. I do hope it isn't always like this. Annie did let him kiss her back paws and she did try to play with him the last time we went out. I was having trouble getting him back in the house after potty as he wanted to play. Annie came back outside, picked up a rubber ball (she hasn't touched it ever despite it being outside), circled him, and tried to get hin to follow. Foz didn't know what to do. I hope this is a sign of things to come with them getting along. Otherwise Steve and I will be in separate rooms with one of them for the next 4-5 yrs.

Well, I'll check to see if my pictures have been uploaded and you can see this beautiful baby for yourself! He looks like a little stuffed animal and sounds like a chimpanzee. :D

What a cutie!!! :)
Awwwwww, Stacy, Fozzie is SO adorable!!! :hearts: And it sounds like Annie is starting to take him under her wing, so to speak. He looks so tiny next to her!

Wow! If he made it from 11 until 4:30 before needing a pee break, that's great!! :go:

Can't wait to see more pictures and hear more stories! Good luck with the beautiful new little guy!

Chris
What a cutie!! :hearts: He's so little compared to Annie. I can't wait for antics with Annie and Fozzie (which is a great name by the way). And pictures- you have to help out those of us who can't have a puppy
