What Are You Reading Right Now?

Ok, so what is everyone reading right now, and what's next on your list?

I'm currently reading the 6th book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, A Breath Of Snow And Ashes. I love this series, I can't wait for the next one! :)

After I'm done this book I'm really not sure what I'm going to read next.... I'm thinking Interview With A Vampire by Anne Rice.
I haven't read any Anne Rice before, but it was recommended by a friend at work, so why not. LOL

The OES forum...... What better?

Just kidding I'll get back to you.
Just finished The Princess Bride. Now I'm reading Sandstorm by James Rollins. Next will be Skeleton Man by Tony Hillerman. (I'm on a mystery kick :D )
Right now I am reading this thread!

Sorry couldn't help myself
Just finished Blink by Ted Dekker. Next up is Handyman by Linda Nichols.
I'm currently reading "How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With" by Rutherford and Neil.

Also started reading new novel called "Best Friends". Seems to be really good so far, but I need to take a break for dog training books.

Just finished Faye Kellerman's "Stone Kiss"
I'm almost finished The Riddle of the Travelling Skull. Encyclopedia Brown / Edgar Allen Poe fans will love it. Makes me feel like a kid again. A funny, quirky, mystery page turner. I love McSweeney's books.

I just finished Dean Koontz's Life Expectancy.
It was great!!
I'm In the middle of Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. I loved Wicked but I've been dragging through this one since the witch died in the last one. I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan so I waited forever for this to come out after Wicked. I like it but I think Wicked was much better.

I just read that last week... I didn't think it was great compared to his earlier books. I find his newer books are more written and published based on his name and reputation selling it, not based on the quality of his work anymore.
I thought it was ok, still a good book, but not up to par with much of his work.
I am reading Deborah Tannen's "Your Wearing THAT?" a DEFINATE must read for ANYONE who is a daughter or has a daughter. It is a delightful book written by a linguist which examines converstions between Mothers and daughters. It was reviewed on NPR not too long ago (I think I posted on it). I ordered it from Amazon.com and LOVE it. I see my own mother in it as well as my own conversations with my daughter, A MUST READ!!!
I just read Fit to be Tied for the second time, which is just a Christian book about what needs to be in place to have a good christian marriage. It's a lot like His Needs, Her Needs ...for those who know what that is.

Now I'm reading How I play Golf ...uhh, by Tiger Woods. What can I say? I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can play some golf!
I am reading The Sinister Pig by Tony Hillerman...it's pretty good. I used to read his books in high school and saw this one on sale, so I got it!

I'm also reading Her Majesty's Spymaster which is about Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Francis Walsingham, her spymaster, and how the world was changing in that era...I majored in this time, so I find it interesting!
i just finished a confederacy of dunces by john kennedy toole. its very very funny and anyone with a masters degree should definitely read it for some laughs.

and im about halfway done with john irvings the world according to garp. i have my complaints, but its pretty enjoyable overall.

next i will read some lectures i just got from my favorite scientist richard feynman
A biography of Helen Keller. She fascinates me--how does someone who has no input from the external world learn what things are? Also working my way through "e=mc2: A biography of the world's most famous equation." It's actually very readable and understandable to this person who almost failed high school physics. Just finished a light mystery last night, so I'm out of "fun" books. Must get to the library this weekend.

I met Diana Gabaldon earlier this month - she lives here in the Phoenix area and always comes to our Scottish Games to sign books and meet fans. She's also going to be signing books at the AZ Book Festival in April.

I love Anne Rice's books. I just finished "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt" and I'd recommend it. She's obviously done a lot of New Testament and historical research. The story follows the New Testament, but tries to fill in the details of how a boy would have grown up in that time. Really interesting.

Current book is "Shadow of the Giant" by Orson Scott Card. Science fiction, part of the "Ender's Game" series.
Hoping to start this eveining, "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden.
Like to try and read the book before seeing the movie.
(I moved this response from the Opinion section.)

I'd love to hear what other's are reading. I am a total bookworm :D I usually have 2 books going at the same time and read based on my mood.

Right now The Dog Whisperer by Paul Owens and The Wonder of Boys are on the nightstand. Just finished The Time Traveler's Wife by Niffenegger for Book Club and starting Ask and It is Given by Jerry Hicks for spiritual nourishment!

Sue-Make sure you don't scare easily  I read Interview when my DH was out of town years ago. We lived across the street from a huge forest so I took the dogs out for their evening pee when it was quite dark and quiet and freaked myself out! I kept imagining that there were vampires in the trees or bushes  RAN back inside and made sure all my doors were locked! The dogs thought I was crazy!

I haven't seen the movie, but I did read this book several years ago and it's quite good. I think you'll really enjoy it. :D
Right now Im reading ANYTHING that teaches me anything about mini horses.Alot of books on tricks Im working w/ oliver on right now.
I'm currently reading You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. I love magazines. I'm also always reading every magazine I can get my hands on. I like In Style, O magazine, Real Simple and any decorating magazines.
Las Vegas-I loved Louise Hay and have passed that book around for years. Very life affirming

I just read Ann Rice's Vampire Chronicles collection, and this is SO
not my genre - but I actually loved it. It is the first 3 books, Interview
with a Vampire, the Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned. I
can't say what it is about this book exactly, but I really enjoyed it.
I am a big reader, and I think this took me longer than any I have ever
read. The pages are like bible paper - and the book is huge.

I was thinking about starting a series I saw- anyone know about the
author John Sanford's Prey series??

Shellie
I'm reading Parents Do Make a Difference : How to Raise Kids with Solid Character, Strong Minds, and Caring Hearts

Also, part of my nightly routine: Goodnight Moon, I'll Love You Forever, a story or two out of our children's Bible every night, Counting Kisses, a Dr. Suess book is mandatory, etc... lol I think I have to read them about 20 stories/books a night before they fall to sleep. :)
Queen of the Damned was an awesome book!! I wish I had known Shellie, I could have lent them to you.

The next book in the series, I can't remember the name, isn't quite as good a read. Took a long time to get through it and the subject matter gets more risque.

While on vacation, I read a book called The Patient by Michael Palmer. It's a medical drama with a terrorist twist. Lot's of big words and medical terminology with a great storyline.
Mandy - was the next one Tale of the Body Theif?
There is also: Blackwood Farm, Blood and Gold, and the Vampire Armand
Memnoch the Devil is #5 that is the only one I know the # of.

I have read all of: Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell, Ridley Pearson, Kelly
Armstrong, Kim Harrison, JD Robb(in Death series), James Patterson and
Laurell Hamilton, and Janet Evanovich. I am having trouble finding a new author. Once I find one I read everything they have out.

Shellie
I'm reading the Narnia books. Never read them as a child.
The vampire stuff is definitely not my style either usually... but, I am actually enjoying the book quite a bit. I started reading it at work today  so I'm actually only a couple of chapters in...

I LOVED the narnia series as well, I haven't read them in at least 20 years. LOL Maybe I'll read those after the Gabaldon book and Interview that I'm reading now. LOL
Shellie, the Prey series is good, I think I've read all of them by now. I'm just starting The Broker by John Grisham, he's usually an easy read.
The Narnia books ARE good. I haven't read them for a long time, either...like 5 grade or something. I wonder if I would still like them as much now as I did back then...
I'm currently reading a book called "Pronoia Is the Antidote for Paranoia How the Whole World Is Conspiring to Shower You with Blessings" by Rob Brezny. I reminds me a lot of a book I read several years ago called Shaving the Inside of your skull. Very provocative and thoughtful, and good for inspiring journal writing.
