I'm back and need some help please!

Ok, haven't been on in a while, but Albert and I are both doing fine :)
However, we do have a problem. About a month ago a beautiful, extremely hungry dog showed up on my porch. I have taken care of him, but Albert is VERY JEALOUS! I have to feed them out of sight of each other, and any time I am with both of them Albert will not let Nutmeg near me. They usually end up fighting. I really wish they could get along. Do yall have any tips? Also Nutmeg is very skittish, he won't let me put a collar on him, and he really got upset when I tried to put a collar on him. He is very loving though, when Albert is not around, and food is no where in sight. He gobbles his food down. I'm pretty sure his first owner was not very nice to him. Outside of taking him to a trainer, is there anything I can do help him? Thanks Yall!! I REALLY appreciate any advice!

Too bad the Dog Whisperer doesn't live next door.

Dogs do not get jealous, per se. That is a human emotion that does not translate to canines.

Can you give us some details on the circumstances that elicit this type of behavior? For example, is it when eating, when you are patting them, or all the time? Also, how does Netmeg respond?

And exactly what does he do? How is he with other strange dogs?

Then we can get a better picture of what is going on and if we can help.
Is Nutmeg a male? Is he neutered? (Intact males are easy to identify...you just have to look at the dingleberries)

Is he inside? Or does he come around just for food?

Albert may feel he needs to protect his space. But give them enough time to get use to each other and after awhile they begin to tolerate each other.

However if he(nugget) will harm Albert...perhaps call the local spca and have them take over and find him the appropiate home, where is is the only dog. Esp if he has been abused, that takes along time to recover if ever.
Bringing a new dog is always a challenge. Lennon is very territorial and we always have trouble when things change around the house, like when kids come and visit.

You may need some time for both to get used to each other's prescence, could you give us more detail on when and how is this happening?
