Commonwealth Games - Melbourne

Just about to sit down and watch the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, anyone watching from Canada or the UK, this is my home city. Hope you enjoy the opening of the games and hopefully you will be able to see a bit of Melbourne along the way over the next 10 days. Best wishes to all the 71 countries competing in my home town, it is going to be a games to remember for me especially. :wink:

Isn't it exciting! Are the Commonwealth Games styled like the Olympics? What events are there? Do countries outside the Commonwealth participate?

Yes very much like the Olympics

Only Commonwealth nations participate and the main stadium the MCG is where Melbourne had the 1956 Olympic Games.
