Jimmy Buffet / Ticketmaster

Once again Ticketmaster has broken my heart :(

Jimmy Buffet tickets went on sale at 10am this morning. I got right on, and at 10:01 was given the opportunity to buy LAWN tickets!!! Who bought all the real tickets in 1 minute????? To add insult to injury, as I was preparing to purchase, Ticketmaster flipped me back to the waiting room!!!

I have never been able to get tickets from them. I'm furious! And I know all the tickets are going to brokers who will sell them for many times more the face value.

I just don't think its fair.

It's not fair - I hate buying tickets on the phone and refuse to do so any more. The last two times I bought tickets for a major show, I found a place where they were being sold and went to stand in line.

The trick to this is to go to the furtherest (sp?) place from the show venue that is still selling tickets. That way, the line is shorter, you get closer to the front AND they still have a certain number of "good" seats to sell.
For example, the show was in Raleigh, NC and I bought tickets in Charlotte (150 + miles away). I was third in line and got tickets in the front center section.

Don't know the ins and outs of how they distribute tickets, but it's worked for me several times. Last show I got 3rd row center this way.

Sorry you missed the good seats for Buffet! :(

Also, another little ticket trick you might want to try is to wait until 2 days before the show, when they have long since been "sold out", and call the venue and ask for the handicapped seats. The way I understand it, they are required to hold them until 48 hours before the show. Then, if they're not sold, they can go to anyone. They're usually good seats on the floor. I went to see Garth Brooks this way.
I've given up on trying to get Buffett tickets through ticketmaster. I always go to an on site place, like Tammy said. And yes, I have tried before and had them be sold out on me by 10:01 too. I'm just bummed that he's not coming anywhere near me this year. I've seen him about 10 times and can never get enough.
Good news  and bad news :? :

My brother in law, from St. Louis just called. He got us tickets! Second to the last row, but hey! Its not the lawn and they are tickets. Woo Hoo!

Bad news...he went to a broker and spent (in my humble opinion) way too much.

He said its a thank you for us taking he and his wife to Key West with us this year.

Cheeseburgers in paradise all around!!!
You can also wait until just before the show and possibly get good tickets. The band, the crew, the opening act and usually local radio sections are given blocks of tickets. If they do not plan on using them, they will release them to the public. It really helps to know someone at the venue to get in on these.
My husband did sound for a couple of bands that opened for Bon Jovi on the last tour. They were supposed to get 8 tickets for the opener but instead received about 20 when they arrived at the venue; so, if you have a friend in the business that is helpful too.
I know with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, if you belong to their fan club, you get an e-mail that will allow you to purchase tickets (still through Ticketmaster) about 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. So probably by the time they do get opened to the public, all the good seats have been taken by the members.

I'm sure Jimmy Buffett has a fan club, too. Maybe that's how the tickets go so fast.

Um, yeah...the PARROTHEADS!
Fins to the left, fins to the right :go:
Oh great, just great...now that song is stuck in my (parrot)head!!!
Sorry to hear about your dilemma. Can't tell you how many times I slept out overnight for concert tickets and was about 10th in line only to get nose bleed tickets. I'm actually glad that you don't have to do that anymore.

Another thing I've found with buying tix online as soon as they go on sale is that if you keep refreshing even after tix may appear to be sold out, that you still may have a chance to get tix. People have trouble checking out with credit cards due to maybe bad internet connections or not having their info handy and those tickets get re-released back into the pool.

I got 2nd row Peter Gabriel tix that way.
I had the same problem getting Buffet tickets. Third year in a row. It's 38 minutes after they went on sale and the scalpers are selling them online for three times the original price already! GRRRR...
Yep....same for me. I couldn't get any either. And the brokers and ebay prices are just plain crazy.

And...last week, I had the same problem with Cubs Tickets! I was in the "waiting room" for over 7 hours...and nothing. Now all the weekend tickets are sold out.

I'm going to stop going to events...not only because I can't get tickets, but I refuse to pay scalpers prices. How do they get away with it?
Forget Jimmy Buffet -- The Police are coming!! ;)
WooHoo!!!! The Police!!!!! Stewart Copeland rocks!!!!!

Where are you planning on seeing them?

A guy at work bought 6 of the $250 tickets since the shows have been selling out. I think that's a pretty big commitment to the Police. I don't think I could commit more than $150.

Maybe Philly, I hope I can remember to try & get tickets tomorrow at 10am although I still can't get a handle on how much exactly the tickets are. I guess you'll be scoring tickets for Hershey???
I'm tying to see who's doing production for the show and weasel my way in that way. Otherwise, I will use my Hershey connection to try and get tickets. The good seats are about 250!!! Then I think it's 90 and 75. 8O
i managed on ticketmaster to get good seats for springsteen for hubby
a year ago but i think that just luck and then i had to stand in line at the venue for them as i was an international buyer.

everytime hubby looks they are always sold out he gets really stressed
