Got the "I want a puppy blues"

Ty is a year old, Tasker going on 10 I DON'T NEED ANOTHER DOG................ but I really want a puppy. Is that how some people wind up with a dozen kids????? I've even been reading the classifieds

Doug would KILL ME if I brought another dog home, but I really want a puppy. What's THAT all about??? Is there such thing as the "Puppy Blues" is it HORMONAL 8O Is there a cure?????????????

I'm having the "I want a baby" blues. I'll probably get a puppy as a substitute, because my husband is sick of me asking him for another baby. That's how we got Jasper, except I had had a miscarriage instead of wanting a baby when we got him. He's not ready for another child yet. I'm about desperate to have another... It's so bad that when one of my friends tells me she's pregnant (which is a lot lately...), I act happy for them, then come home and cry.

Maybe you can try that with Doug. LOL If you two can't have babies, maybe start mentioning adoption. It might get you a puppy! lol Never hurts, right? You don't have to follow through. ;)
I think I want another puppy too....but then again, I like Panda being an ''only" child.....Im at odds.....If Steph gets another one, I might think about it.....

HAHAHAHAHAHA, my youngest is 21, his youngest is 18; 8O 8O 8O A BABY 8O 8O 8O , I think he'd drop dead of fright if I mentioned the word 8O Of course then when I said JUST KIDDING I REALLY WANT A PUPPY it might be such a relief he'd GO FOR IT!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

If Steph jumped off a bridge, would you too?

Ha ha ha! I really want a puppy right now too. I think it must be spring...with all the cute Easter stuff out and little chicks and rabbits...I think getting a puppy would be either REALLY good for Barney or REALLY bad... I think if anything we would rescue my brother's doodle...
I MIGHT jump off of a bridge, if you did...

it would depend on a few things....
1. how deep the water was
2. how far of a fall it was
3. how cold the water was
4. see if you hurt yourself or not...... 8O
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

I'dg go after you but only if the water wa 87 degrees and there was a real cute life guard waiting at the bottem
Well...Steph's not jumping off a bridge unless there's a cute lifeguard and warm water, so...come on in, y'all! The water's fine!

By the way, does everyone like the fact that Steph is now calling herself Steph...
you guys are cracking me up... and just to feed the furor alittle bit.. here you go, my cutest puppy picture so far:

How can ANYONE resist that???? Impossible I say, impossible!
I'm in the same boat - I want another dog. Though a puppy or young adult would do.
My husband keeps asking which dog we would trade in.
My mom said she won't come visit anymore.
My m-i-l wants to come back as one of my dogs.
My co-workers just say NO!
The kids at school say YES!
My three human kids just laugh.
My three 4-foots loved having a guest this past weekend....
I found out over the weekend that..... Ben's Mom & Dad are having another litter........it is all I can think about! 8O How fun would it be to have sibilings!!???

Quinton says NO! (We don't like husbands that tell us "no".)

The baby thing works! I got a kitten that way once  Maybe I go that route again
Okay, now I blame Karen for my I wanna puppy blues.

Seriously, how CUTE is that puppy! Is it yours?
I wanna hold that puppy...sigh...soft licks with the puppy breath ever so sweetly blowing in my face......fact is everyone....

puppies grow up and have dog breath, bigger poop, and a lot more hair....
It is really cruel for people to post such cute puppy pictures  ...can't they find some of the puppies making messes and generally being little devils  That way the urge to get another puppy would be curbed just a little.

Amanda
I don't know which puppy is mine yet, but that is one of the 9 puppies from "my" litter (coming home next sunday ) .

Feel free to blame me for your puppy fever, as this forum is what got me going in the first place... Turn about is ALWAYS fair play when it comes to puppies!

Sounds like what I'd have to put up with. I mentioned wanting a puppy to someone I work with, they just rolled their eyes and said "now I KNOW you're nuts". Everyone here thinks I'm some crazy dog lady.......just cause I have more pictures of my dogs in my office then my kids  And , aren't office doors where you are SUPPOSED to put pictures of your dogs?????????
Barney is the screen background at my husband's hospital...
Panda is my screen saver at work, not to mention the 40 others that are pinned up all over..... 8O
I have friends at work who just come over to say 'hi' to Barney on my walls...
HeeHeeHee....y'all are cracking me up today!!

I was secretly (or maybe not so secretly) hoping I'd get to keep Charlie.

I get the same reactions from my friends & family as you do. "What do you need with another animal??" :x If only they were legitimate tax deductions.
LOL

I have the want-a-puppy-blues too this spring, and I'm getting one in just a few more days! LOL

Most years I get the I-want-another-baby-blues too, but not this year for some reason. Maybe knowing I'll be so busy showing etc is helping me. LOL

Most of my co workers have the same reaction, "ANOTHER dog?! Are you nuts?!"

I haven't told my parents yet, my mother doesn't even like animals, but she understands my love of them so she'll roll her eyes a bit and be happy for me. My dad will just think I'm crazy. LOL
I NEVER EVER EVER had the I want another baby blues......don't get me wrong I love my kids and loved having them. Two, five years apart, one boy, one girl, perfect family thank you very much NO MORE.

That's why this puppy thing is so hard to comprehend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love a puppy, too, but I just can't do that to Drez. She's always been an "only" and is the happiest that way, so as long as we have her, no other dogs will be allowed in our house. I can't be sad, though, because Drez is just the bestest girl around! Her picture is the background on both my home and work computers (different pictures), I have a few other pictures of her hung at work, one of the calendars I bought is hanging up at work, and I have 3 sheepie statues at work and numerous ones at home! I have to get another sheepdog after Drez, or else I'll have to start a whole new collection!!
Chris
I'll be 32 this year and haven't once had the 2 legged baby blues. I keep waiting for the urge to strike, but it never has except for a 4 legged OES. I keep saying that Annie needs to be an only dog, but I NEED another sheepie. Otherwise, I'm just going to fall apart when she's gone and I don't think I'd have the strength to train a pup :( I really hope getting a puppy works out. We'll try really hard. If nothing works, then we'll find him a good home. We just need to try it.

People come look at my sheepie calendar and laugh at Annie's picture. Hubby couldn't wait to get the new ones with Annie in her sunglasses and hat to the office. His coworkers crack up. For goodness sakes, I have an ENTIRE large scrapbook devoted to Annie! My mom has a huge OES statue collection that I think will make it's way over to my house in the near future :D
I have the puppy blues BIG TIME. I keep thinking kels is a few weeks off 11, brie is only 3 and if something happens then brie is on her own. So looking towards the end of the year for another. Sheepie items are everywhere in the house even stuffed ones all over the bedroom as well as live ones LOL. Pictures of kids on the walls etc, but sheepie ones out number them  Going from 3 to 2 in the last 12 months I am missing having 3 soooo working on that and we shall see what eventuates, started nagging and driving all nuts 8)
I want another one, too. But, alas, I have been forbidden. So, I'm thinking next year :D
This will be my arguement: my name on the forum is bestdogsx4, without Beau :( I'm a BIG FAT LIAR :!: I'll be forced to change my name, I won't remember it and then what will happen? To keep my name I am being FORCED to get a puppy because Ron doesn't know how to change it :D Sound convincing?
I could post a picture of the hole Barkley put in the dry wall yesterday. That might quinch, or at least put a slight damper on puppy mania

 Yep sure does LOL, a good argument for a new PUP there, mmmm maybe I should add to my name x3 Ha Ha, that might help me too

I dunno dee, I could tell some stories of washing machines, dry wall, door frames etc etc. Even still have the marks on the door frames. Had the house painted but did not want to fix the frames, I call it my growth chart a permanent reminder of when they started teething and when they stopped. LOL
ROFL Deograine! I haven't had a puppy in 10 years and can remember our shepherd puppy redecorating when we were at work!

My puppy fever took over last week and I am so excited I can hardly stand it! I am getting ready for one of Kaye's puppies - only 6-8 more weeks to go!-and am seriously going to consider crating this time around

Did I miss this somewhere? Which one? Do you know yet? How exciting!
My husband has to go back out to Abilene in a few weeks. He'll be just a mile or so from Kaye........ Maybe I should go with him and we could "visit" the puppies.
After all, it was his OES that I married him to get in the first place...

So Kaye, I may be calling........

OH HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nicole-
We don't know which one yet, just one of the boys. (Although I do love Bueno's black ear!) Kaye is going to check for temperment before we choose. I have 3 little boys and need a pup that can handle the noise in our house!

She said that we can pick our puppy up or have him sent at the end of April :D :D I am reading everything I can get my hands on and trying to stay out of our new Petsmart

its not me with puppy blues it s the hubby he decided he needs a puppy but he wants a burgamasco (dreadlocked dog) i'm trying to convince him to a sheepie but i'm not winning

I WANT A PUPPY TOO.

Ok, there, I've said it. But, alas my head is overriding my heart for the time being. Too much stuff going on right now.

I say if you really want a puppy you should just get one.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem as you, my HEAD knows what my HEART doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stupid logic! Keeps overriding that little devil on your shoulder! Grrrrrr
Mandy, LOVE your new AVATAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! It's an old pic of Carl being calm. I like to call it a miracle!

I want a puppy too! But I want a weenie dog - I miss having one around the house... doing weenie things... and digging up the carpet.

I've even planned it out - "Ooh! Wouldn't it be nice to have a little boy weenie dog Brad? We wouldn't have to worry about him embarassing us with Momo because she is too tall... he would be really cute and weenie-ish while he was digging up our yard and trying to eat himself into a coma! Momo would have a little doggy friend and he wouldn't be as big as Momo so they wouldn't take up as much room as two OES (which I would totally get too)... Plus he would be just as stuborn and untrainable (character if you will) as Momo - so they would get along really well.

 I have this thing for dogs with lots of personality... weenie dogs are pretty smart - we had one MOVE a chair so she could jump up onto the counter! 8O I haven't seen Momo counter-surfing yet but she sure knows how to pull a fast one. I think it would be great to have another baby around the house... but we can't. :?

We already have two cats - three if we bring my old kitty Tigs with us... and we have Momo and three hedgehogs... but it is SOOOOO tempting to get a puppy. Even if we don't need any more pets - I totally want one! *whine*

Plus - I have been softening Brad up to the idea little by little - so if it's ever available... we can get one. Mwa ha ha!

I scan through these so fast, I don't remember ever reading this thread. Ever since Irisk posted that her puppy was coming home soon and my neighbor got a tibetan terrier after IIIIIIII told her about them.... I've been itching like a mug! I've been itching for a baby too though. I HATE that they get bigger. Ever lb makes me cry. I look forward to the future with my 2 legged and all my 4-legged kids...but the present was super schweet..that I don't want it to leave me!

How cool! I love Bergamascos too! I love that their dreadlocks are "flocks" rather than cords, which are harder to maintain. I've done a lot of research on them and have contacted a breeder here in the states a few times just to ask questions, particularly about grooming and temperament. If you have any questions, I could relay what I've been told so feel free to PM me.
