Robot - A Puppy Name?

Thought I'd run this by all of you. A few years ago we realized that the word "robot" meant something to Annie. I have no idea if she once lived with another animal named Robot or what. I said the word again yesterday afternoon. Annie immediately looked at me with a very attentive face, shook her entire body, hopped around a bit, and started to wimper. Once she settled down, I ran it by her again. This time I mixed it up with a few other words/names like Herbert, Ebert, Robert thinking that maybe they all sounded like "treat" (a word she knows well). None of the other names conjured up a reaction but "Robot" did again. Do you think this means she has named my new puppy? I don't think I like the name, but Annie gets so excited when we say it. :D

Maybe she hears "Rabbit"?
Robot is an ADORABLE name! :go: So does this mean you're definitely getting one of Kaye's pups? And a male? How exciting!! :high5:
Chris
Maybe in her last house she watched a lot of the Jetsons cartoons and Rosie the Robot?
Maybe she's warning you against allowing robots to take over the world...
stacy for the heck of it say rabbit and see what she does.

LMAO :P
Maybe her last house had a ROOMBA VACUMING ROBOT and she liked to chase it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which means the poor puppy would start off at a disadvantage, can you hear it now "LEAVE POOR ROBOT ALONE"

LOL I'll try that tonight. Last thing I need is for her to attack the poor pup ever time I call it's name! I can just picture it now!
Maybe she's hearing "go pot" as in "go potty"?

Hmmm...that might be it too. Okay, so I can choose another name. Phew!
Robots are dangerous:

"Cause of Death in Persons Over 50 Years of Age": Heart Disease, 42% - Robots, 58%

From a SNL skit a couple years back with Sam Waterson:

See!
Pooh Bear goes nuts when we say "Chris" (the cat's name) and will go off running to find her. I can say "Where's Chris?" to him and nothing, but if I say only "Chris!" he will go and chase after her.

Maybe she had a friend named Robot.
I hope you choose another name for your pup! Maybe get Annie a stuffie that you name Robot.
Robert?
i think robot is actually a really cute name for a puppy
And when the puppy wiggles its butt, you can say it's 'doin' the robot'...

:D Anyone remember the song "Mr Roboto" by Styx? I have no idea what that song was talking about.
Thank you very mucha Meester Roboto...
domo arigato mr roboto!
when i visited japan 2 years ago we did that song at a karaoke bar with some japanese kids, it was hilarious
What about "Robbie" from the old movie Forbidden Planet, Robbie the Robot
 Robot is a great name!
One of my beardeds name was Robbin (as Robbin Hood)
He was born in Nothingham, near the wood Robbin Hood lived
That was the reason I give him that name
Hey Tove...Panda was orginally named Robin and had that name for three years! With his arrival in North America and the start of a new life I chose the name (actually let members here vote on a name) Panda, which honored his Asian roots as well. I really wanted to call him Dragon but was talked out of it by people here as the name might invoke images of a fierce dog. Although I read that white Dragons are meant to be good luck.

Annie's mom,I like the name Robot...now perhaps it was someone that had an accent and meant for it to be Robert? It's cute anyhow. You could consider allowing the members here to vote on possible names you like?

Marianne and the boys
We like the name Rupert, like Stewie's teddy bear from Family Guy.
Maybe Annie's just into a weird 80's thing, Mr. Roboto, doing the Robot....
Although I am a big fan of Styx so I shouldn't say weird, hmmmmm
Rupert's a cute name too.

Darcy, I tried "Rabbit" last night and didn't get a response from Annie; however, I did get another hippety sheepie hop from "Robot". :D
maybe she hears "go out"

jack jumped on me yesterday when i was talking about the gout.
Hmmmm.

Try saying "wiggle-butt" or "go-butt" or "where's your butt?"...after all, she is a sheepie!
Ed, do you and Jack discuss gout often?

You're lucky. My sheepdog only thinks he knows medical terms. I can't count the times it has caused problems for my husband, who's in his 3rd year of med school...

Thanks Ed! That's what Annie is hearing when we say "robot". I'm kind of glad because the name Robot for a puppy wasn't doing it for me. I have my heart kind of set on "Teddy". I used to collect miniature teddy bears and have a ton of them at my mom's and the nicer ones in my grandma's antique curio cabinet in our living room. I've always dreamed of having my own live miniature bear and a sheepie comes close. I love watching Annie in her longer coat climb up the stairs. She looks like a sweet polar bear :D
for some reason, the name oliver is sticking....its funny, because if I had enough guts to get another sheepie, oliver sounds cool....
do it Darcy! do it!
You do it first!
Now wait a minute...let's not be rash...
We had a sheepdog named Oliver when I was little. My sister and I called him Ollie for short because we couldn't pronounce Oliver. I think it is a great Sheepie name. :D :D

Amanda
Darcy, I think both you & Steph should get another sheepie! Panda and Barney need companions!

I second that. Just think of how wonderful it would be to have another Sheepie around.... They wear each other out..which is GREAT!
Also stops boredom issues while you are out 8)
I completely agree. In fact, I think it is rather selfish to lavish all your attention on just one sheepie.

Just kidding. But I do love having two and even though mine don't exactly play together, they have tons of cute interactions and I feel better leaving them home knowing they are there to keep each other company.

Elissa, I don't get bored when I go out...so how would having a second sheepie at home fix it anyway?!

Hey, you don't need to convince me (well, maybe a little)...it's my husband who's vetoed all new animals.
Mine too....mean mean Brian :?
