Missed heat?!

My breeder was expecting her girl to go into heat at the end of January/beginning of Feb. As it is now March 3rd, she still hasn't come into heat, so I'm slowly calming myself down. I may not have my early summer pup as I've been planning.

I'm really sad, I've been looking forward to this for years! Still, I'm glad I have the foster girls with me to keep me occupied. The only bad part is that they are getting attached to us, and us to them, and I want them to find their forever home soon so they can get settled!!!

For those more knowledgable, how common is a missed heat?

It's not always exact.... Dancer had her first 2 heats 8 months apart, and this time it was only seven months since the last one. Sky is 9 months apart, Abby was only 5 months. They vary, and although they usually stick to some sort of pattern, it's not always right to the day, or even the month.
Exactly what stacey has posted, most people think every 6 months but some bitches can be only once a year too. Does not mean they have missed a heat, just takes time with a bit of maturity for there heats to become regular. Kelsey ran every 6 months and Brie started at every 6 months now looks like her cycle is going to be around the 8-9 month mark.
