An intro.

Lisa and I have just registered hence a brief note in introduction. After many years of waiting for the right circumstances for ownership we took the plunge in Nov '03 and brought home Phoebe at eight weeks old. She is sister to our two daughters aged 5 & 3. Lisa took the lead in breed choice as she grew up with an OES and managed to convince me that the grooming was worth the effort! I'm not disappointed. I stumbled across this site whilst perusing OES on the net and liked the content. I would have registered a few days ago but Phoebe kindly pulled the phone wires from a junction box that some fool (read Simon) fitted at dog height. We didn't realise the breed was so popular in the U.S.A. She has taken to training very quickly and is much loved and admired by all who meet her despite her habit of drooling over guests. I see from the site she should in fact be Phoebe II, funny how names seem to fit. Now I just need to work out how to post a puppy photo with this...Back to FAQ's.....S & L.

Welcome Simon, Lisa Dee, and Phoebe,

It is nice to have you here. I am mom to a whole crew. We have 2 kids and our sheepies Jack and Annabelle and our 4 cats. We are having a blast with them all. How old is Phoebe now? Do you have any other pets? I have looked at a lot of sheepdog sites and have seen a Jack and an Annabelle before as well. I really didn't think that there were so many OES lovers out there, yesterday a neighbor just stopped me and told me they went to Missouri and picked up an OES pup, I believe he said that he was 8 weeks old. I can't wait until Jack and Annabelle can play with him. ( 8O WOW THAT DOG LOOKS LIKE US! 8O ) I look forward to hearing more about Phoebe and the great stories about her. :P

HI! Welcome to the site. It IS great to read about all the sheepie owners in the states, as well as in the UK, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Singapore, China, and Australia. If I forgot anybody in New Zealand or elsewhere, well you guys need to write up a post and remind me  .
As for posting pictures, there's two ways of doing it. One is the avatar, which wil show up with your name(s). You do that under PROFILE which will show up in the header after you login. Go to the bottom of the profile page and you will see where you can upload a greatly reduced photo. To reduce the photo, open your favorite photo editor and reduce the photo by 75% and then go to RESIZE in the same editor and reduce it to the closest size that looks right and is under 150 x 150 pixels. Save this reduced photo with a new name in an easy to assess place like the desktop or My Documents. Then come back to the forum, login, and go to your PROFILE. Go to the bottom, browse with the arrow and find where you saved the photo and upload it.
As far as posting pictures, go to our picture topic. There you can post links to your favorite online photos of your dog. Due to space and moderating issues, we can only link to already posted photos. So if you don't have any posted to any other site, now would be a good time to find your favorite site and post some photos of that gorgeous pup of yours! dogster.com seems to open as quickly as any and I like its format.
Welcome and good luck! If you need any help just ask! Someone will find the answer for you. Ron's the administrator and knows more than most of us.

Thanks for the advice on posting pic's it came in very handy. All being well a photo of Phoebe should be posted with this (aged 9 weeks at time). Phoebe was born 26/09/03 up in Nottinghamshire, about 200 miles away from our home. We had intended to start looking for a puppy in 04 but we heard through a regional breed club that a reputable breeder may have one pup without a home. We went along and fell in love with her straight away. Arriving home we introduced the children who were very matter of fact about having a baby sister in the house and promptly disappeared off to watch a video! Since then they have all become firm friends and I look forward to watching them all grow up together. I will always remember one evening when my older daughter sat drying her tearful eyes on Phoebe's puppy coat while Phoebe sat patiently for her. We also have a cat called Jess but never the twain meet. Jess was a rescue cat and is now aged about 14 years. She has always been very intolerant of other animals but is very affectionate towards humans. I've been looking through the site and it's great. I hadn't realised OES was so global. I've already picked up a lot of hints and tips. Hopefully I'll have the odd bit to add. Phoebe is just reaching that tricky 6 months spot where I expect her to start testing us out. Let me know what I can expect and I'll be prepared! We had snow on the ground this morning and Phoebe delighted in rolling around, pity she didn't realise it was mud just below.. bathtime. Thanks again for the welcome S & L, P & girls.
Welcome!

My puppy girl is also named Phoebe, you have great taste in names! Phoebe is now 2 years old and helps keep "her boys" ages 10, 8, 5 &5 (twins) in line. She has taught them not to run in the house, never allows them to rough play, serves as their pillow on many occasions, and will lick a hand, foot, face, whaterver they serve in front of her, for as long as they want. She has truly been a wonderful addition to our family. I know your Phoebe will be too! Welcome to the forum!
