Is there a dental school anywhere nearby?
Hi OES Mommy,

Ron may possibly have the right answer. Many years ago when I was a university student and single mom of a young child whom desperately needed braces I searched for alternatives as to what to do. I was turned down by numerous places but never gave up. I realize I'm in Canada and it may be different, but I started a letter writing campaign - explained my situation and finally my son got free braces which I think was through a dental school. Search the phone book, call everyone that may be able to help and you'll perhaps be led in the right direction.

I'm praying something will turn up for you as there is no pain greater than that of dental pain. I'll be thinking about you.

Another thought. The County Health Department has dental clinics down here for adults and kids. I don't know what kids of wait there would be..... See what's up there.
Sorry to hear about your teeth oes mommy, just wanted to say hope it is not too painful and hope you can find somewhere to help you.

We have dental schools here that give a service for minimal amount of money, but that is here, so I hope you can find somewhere there that has a similar service.

Hugs
I hope you can get something worked out. :( I like Ron's idea of a dental school.

I'm not sure dental insurance would of helped anyway, lol Jakob, our oldest son, doesn't have any enamel on his teeth so he gets cavaties REALLY easy. He had to be put to sleep to get all of the last ones taken care of, and with two dental insurances, that was $1500 upfront. Not including the hospital, sedation, etc.. It's crazy how much dental care costs. I'll be glad when his baby teeth fall out, so we can get sealant on his adult teeth. :)

I know a lot of dentists offer payment plans now with approved credit. Maybe that would work?
Deana, I know you and your husband have been out of work for awhile. Can you apply for some sort of government assistance?
Yes Deana...do you have Access or something like that? Or Cobra, since Richard was working? The dental school idea is a good one...although, I think I would contact your regular dentist and ask him about an alternative....he would have contacts and they might be a more reputable referal...

kisses..

Dental schools are actually very good. The one here in Richmond is great--you don't have 'new' students working on you...it is basically the ready to go new dentists...and there are professors right there assisting. My friend got braces and a lot of other stuff there and it is a fraction of the cost of going to a regular dentist.
So sorry that has happened. My aunt was in a similar situation, and it wasn an emergency dental situation...she has false teeth, and the ones holding were rotten too....ROTTING smell was atrocious.

Anyways, I believe they got coverage througha special gov't program, for people on low income. Is there something like that for you.

For myself I went to the dentist today, we have coverage...anyways my teeth have many fracture lines, and between the two back molars, I have exposed gums...causing sensitivity to chewing. So the only way to fix it is with caps...$700/tooth I think. I may not be covered for something like that.

Good luck, hope you find something.
call 1-800-dentist and ask them too find a dentist who can make payment arrangements, that way it will be fixed ASAP,and you can make payments.

Good luck,I hate having mouth issues!! 8O

Sounds like good advice. Or maybe you have a regular dentist who would defer payments.

You said you were at church. Does your church have a fund to help? Sometimes the Salvation Army will provide funds for emergency situations.

Hope you get the help you need quickly. I know you've had more than your share.
