Sammy's first and last weekend away from us.

My husband and I have a trip to a local coastal resort every year as well as a trip to the Victorian border to meet up with friends, we had taken Sammy with us to Victoria and he was beautifully behaved but we decided that he should go to the kennels which is run by friends of ours to avoid the risk of him picking up a tick.
The whole time that we was away the kids kept telling us how much they missed him and having us imagine what Sammy would be doing if he was wish us. On the drive home my husband surprised me when he said "we won't make that mistake again" 8O it seems that Sammy is now going to even be coming with us on the coastal trip each year :D
Seeing as Sammy loves water (if it's raining and he is outside he will go and stand in it, if the sprinkler is on the lawn he will stand under it  ) I can just imagine him surfing and playing on the beach 8O

On the few rare occasions where we went away without Drez, we did the same thing - I wonder what she's doing now, I wonder if she misses us, I hope she's feeling alright, etc. etc. It's always fun taking them along, so I'm glad you'll be doing that from now on with Sammy! And I'm sure he'll be grateful, too!
Chris
That was nice of your husband to say that Jean. You do miss them when you're away and I'm sure our babies miss us too.
That's good that you can take Sammy with you from now on. I always hate leaving the pets.
Harry, the right side dog, found the weak part of the fence with the neighbors. It's a stock fence with barbed wire on the top. Well, since the 3 dogs moved in next door, it's been a frequent run and bark time. Unknown to us, at the end of the "runway" the dogs (probably mine) were pulling down the fence.

Last night I could hear Harry barking madly but ignored him as he tends to bark a lot at night. About 8:30 when it's time for all to come in, we discovered his crazed barking was , "Get me back home!!"

When he fell over and where were the 3 dogs, I don't know. Harry is unhurt (Phew!). When discovered, Paul went next door and the lady came out saying, "We don't know your name so couldn't call. He sure is friendly, he came up to me and licked."

Paul had not taken a leash and Harry wasn't going to walk quietly next to Dad. Like a bullet, he dashed down the road and back into my arms. He remained a velcro dog all night, sleeping snuggled around my tummy.
What a wonderful husband you have, Jean. Sammy probably missed you as much as you missed him; and just think of the great memories you'll have of all your adventures :D
That's great news. It's almost not any fun taking a trip for worry about the babies. Bet you can't wait to go vacation again now.

Sheepie Boss, that's pretty scary. Good thing for the happy ending.
Yay for Sammy, he is going to become a beach babe

I hate leaving them home too, spend my whole time worrying about them when I am away, soooo now they go everywhere with us and makes the whole family happy then :D
Yippeee!!! Sammy will be so happy - and so will all of you!!

I came home yesterday afternoon from a four day trip. My neighbors were taking care of the wigglebums for me (as well as the rest of my darlings). When I drove into the driveway, they were in the yard and started wiggling their bums so fast! It was the best welcome home ever!! I had tears in my eyes I had missed them so much!! I opened the gate and just went in and dropped down to my knees in the yard. You should've seen them kissing me and wiggling all over me - they couldn't get close enough - and neither could I! I was laughing and crying happy tears - I really HATE being away from them.
You are so lucky to have your husband say that!

My hubby is one of those "it is just a dog" type of person....don't get me wrong, he likes our "funny farm", it is just that he grew up with grandparents who actually had a farm and their animals were not pets.......they "served a purpose", so he kinda feels that way.... :(

(My guys serve a purpose too! love, laughs, cuddles, laughs, kisses, laughs...) :D

We went to visit his family in Kansas for Thanksgiving and left the furbabies w/ grandma (my mom) I was so concerned........how are they, what are they doing, I hope they ar okay, and not mad at me, oh, I can't wait to get back to the fuzzies........ "grandma" called me few times a day for an update.......husband, while he doesn't get it, respects how I feel........but, I could never imagine him saying "ok bring 'um!"

LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY Girl!!!!
