How do you adulterate your french fries?

There was a place around in one or two of the malls called "Boardwalk Fries", and they sold handmade-to-order fries in peanut oil in a thick paper cup, and served them with Malt Vinegar ( You can skip the vinegar for me, though ).

There was one restaurant that use to serve big and wide but flattish steak fries and I used to smother them in... (don't get mad) butter. Butter! Oh man.... those were THE BEST, HANDS DOWN. For me, anyway. sigh.

Joan likes fries with chili, and Johnny Rocket's makes an ok version. The chili is better than the fries. She also likes getting Wendy's fries with a side order of chili. In that case, the fries are better than the chili, in my opinion.

EEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW Butter on fries. !!!!!! :?

chili and fries are good, I love malt vinegar on fries.
chili cheese fries at coney island in Detroit...yummers...I also love malt vinegar!
oh I forgot lots of ketvhup!!!
I love chili on fries.... or, although most of their items make me gag, taco bell's supreme fries are awesome. LOL
Stacey I like them too.
Ever wonder why taco bell does not have chili???
I mix ketchup and mustard together and dip my fries in it.
My very favorite is Fudrucker's mustard - sort of a smokey table mustard.
But at home I use mayo - or ketchup/mayo.
I do like vinegar on fries too, but not the cheap stuff they tend to
serve. I like my vinegars better.

Shellie
My favorite is still gravy and cheese...POUTINE =D

Then the classic ketchup, if nothings else. I use to have vinegar as a kid, but haven't had that for years.
Mmmmm butter and salt. . .

My favorite fries are "spanish fries" -- with grilled onions, jalapenos and cheese. Kinda like nachos but with fries. Yum! :D
Ketchup and Sour Cream!! YUM :D

I also like chili cheese fries.

Another butterer? Cool! I thought I was alone!
Vinegar when they come as Fish and Chips or on the Boardwalk!

Now don't get grossed out

Mayo if they are steak fries and I am not watching my girlish figure
I still want to try that putaine stuff...sounds gross, but im willing....i think its the name 8O

I'm reminded of this -so I'm unsure that I want to even try it..
Malt vinegar with steak fries or Ranch dressing - YUM!

that putaine stuff...

Be careful on the pronounciation. Poutine is pronounced "poo-tin", as in doggy doo and the metal. If you pronounce it "poo-taine" it means, well, er, umm...a lady of the night, but not a nice one.

You can make them easily enough.
French fries must be very hot, fresh cheese curds (but shredded cheese will also do), and beef gravey (must be a good thck gravey).

Put the fries in a bowl, cover them with the cheese and add the gravey. VERY addictive.

I eat my poutine with ketshup, and lots of salt and pepper. MMMMMMMMMi
okay, see Im confused...is cheese curd like cottage cheese? if so, i dont think it would melt very good....can someone take a picture of this stuff? Ive been hearing about it now for about a year and I am no where nearing a conclusion...if you guys say it tastes good, I believe you...just cant quite picture it......
McChicken Sauce from McDonalds.
I love Steak Fries with Mozzarella Cheese and Brown Gravy.
Just like they make it at the Diners in NJ :D
But also I love my fries "All the Way"!
Fries covered in Chili Sauce with fresh chopped onions and mustard....Mmmmm
I LOVE the BBQ sauce at McDonalds to dip them in...or regular BBq sauce elsewhere...also ranch dressing...and ketchup with tabasco...
Mayo. And salt.
With French Fries, it is just ketchup with me. Now if you want to talk about hash browns, well that is a completely different subject.

Hashbrowns!.... We might need to start a new subject because my grandfather makes these hashbrowns oh YUM! I might need to make a trip to Georgia now... :D

Hubby loves this too.

Poutine...pronouce Poo...Teen...at least this is how I learned it.

A&W makes it with authentic cheese curds...NOT cottage cheese, but it is a soft cheese, similar in texture to cream cheese cubes, but tastes like mozz...why we now make it with shredded cheese. Less expensive too.

Okay...thanks...it looks kinda like I thought it would...interesting..Id be willing to try it!
Thanks for those links! I loved the 10 minute tongue-in-cheek-under-gravy report.
Where I'm from, they're not boardwalk unless they've got vinegar ...and they're definitely my FAVORITE!!

Since I can't find that here, I settle for just crispy fries and restaurant ranch. It's got to be the right ranch or slide over the ketchup. If the restaurant honey mustard is worth talking about then I love that too. You just can go SO WRONG with ranch (some are runny, some just taste like vomit, etc, etc).

I'm not a HUGE fan of hashbrowns. Most are served soggy, and I can't do that. It's super crispy or I just give them to Mr. J
Tartar sauce!

Or Cedar Point fries straight up.
I've never heard of fries with vinegar before. Sounds like it's something to try. :)
My husband hadn't either until we stumbled by a Boardwalk Fries. TOTALLY shocked me. I thought it was something everyone has tried before as kids.
I like malt vinegar or A-1 sauce. Catsup looks like blood to me :)
OMG, HOW DID I miss this??????????

FRENCH FRIES with KETCHUP AND MAYO AND LOTS OF SALT

or

REALLY HOT GREASY CRISPY FRIES loaded with salt and vinegar

MMMM MMMMM MMMMMMMMMMMMM I can feel those arteries clogging!!!!
Hey don't forget my French Fries in Butter!
Would that be REAL BUTTER 8O or diet margarine
do you dip them in melted butter or do you pour the melted butter over them or do you do whipped butter and dunk like you would ketchup?
Fries with honey-mustard or ranch dressing are good...plain ketchup is my usual condiment. The best is ketchup mixed with ranch dressing...mmmmhhhhh. 8)

Amanda
MMMMMMM, I still have tater tots from the LAST thread about food in my freezer............might have to get them out tonight.

Ketchup mixed with ranch?????? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMHHHHHHHHHHHH just might have to try that!!!!!!!
The Steakhouse where I "invented" this concoction as a yung'un used to serve full sticks of butter on the table along with their hot rolls. They would just take a knife and slice 6 or 7 times right through the foil wrapper of the butter and put it on a plate.

So I'd put a couple of the "pats" on the fries (always very hot right out of the fryer) and let it melt. mmmmmmmm

Later they changed to leaving a bowl FULL of individually wrapped large size pats.

I should start a post about that restaurant, I haven't been there in a few years. What a place.
i guess when you think about it...its not much different than putting butter on a baked potato....i love sour cream on potato skins.....
Ugh! That just sounds horrible to me, but I am the girl who, if she eats fried food at all, which really doesn't happen, I pat off the extra grease with a napkin...
Boring Steph.......dare you to sop up the extra grease with your fry and eat it....weird california health nuts...... :D
I know. I AM boring. What can I say...land of the fruits and nuts...
okay here is a bigger bet...next time you and cam go out...you have to order and eat....chili cheese fries with onions and mustard on top.....pizza with sausage (no patting), and a icecream drink with alcohol and chocolate syrup.........
oh dont forget the tums because after that meal, youll need one (or 2)

Okay, here's why I can't (and why all waitresses hate me)...
chili cheese fries...can't eat cheese...don't eat red meat...SO non-cheese, non meat chili with mustard and onions sounds great!
Pizza with sausage...don't eat pork (or cheese) so it'd have to be a cheeseless turkey sausage pizza
ice cream drink...can't have the dairy part, but I'll just take a shot of the alcohol and chocolate syrup!

See, I suck.
8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O
Shall I reserve a spot for her in my Cardiac Rheab program NOW or after the massive MI brought on by all that greese and cholesterol?????
Steph, Im sorry that is sooo sad...boo hoo to you.....Ill do the next best thing and eat it all for you...btw....ginny save me a spot!
Naw, she's still young. Her vessels aren't as clogged as us older folks. Let her enjoy life for awhile..........the dues come later. Maybe she's the type that will wait until she's in her late 80's to develop a problem.
Knock wood Susan that that is true....I actually got the okay to eat salt...lots of it....super low blood presssure...I actually faint....Soooo those salty fries are IN!
How did I miss this? I love fries with mayo - learned about that in Europe. But here in the States people look at you funny when you dunk your fries in mayo. Mmmm...
By the way RON............isn't there something in the BIBLE about adulteration????? Thou shalt not adulterate french fries???????? 8O
