new job/ moving again

Well, I finally found a job (claims adjuster) but will have to move from eastern TN to Nashville area. Have spent the last couple of weeks traveling back and forth since being offered the job and finally found a place to live. Am back in eastern TN again, now have to pack up and move AGAIN. I moved from my home in 4/04 to my mothers house (only 20 mi) to take care of her til her death in 7/04 then had to move again after we sold her house. Knowing that I was not planning to stay in VT helped in that I did not unpack everything.

I moved to eastern TN in 5/05 and while I like it here, could not find work in the area. While I have enjoyed the time off, especially after finding Daisy in 7/05, it is time to get back to the real world and working once again. So, Daisy and I have made 3 trips to Nashville area (approx 5 hrs each way with stops) and finally found a place to live. Now we are back home and have to pack and find someone to move it next week if at all possible. If not, we'll be camping out in our new home until I can make arrangements to have everything moved.

It's exciting and nerve wracking at the same time but I know that somehow it will all work out/ it always does. I just hope it doesn't end up costing me a fortune. The only quote I have gotten so far is over 2k, which is more than it cost me to move from VT to TN less than a year ago.

Hi LJB,

Sound like a lot of moves and upheavals you've experienced. I'm sure it helped to have Daisy for comfort, she's probably been a good listening ear for you many times. We're here for you too - don't forget that!

Hoping all works out well for you and best wishes with your new job!

Best wishes for your new job and the move.

Hopefully you will be there for awhile now and unpack those boxes you never got to unpacking.

Every success to you in your new job, very exciting
I hope the new job works out well for ya!

Good luck with the move, too.
How did the move go Ljb. Hope you and your pooch have settled into your new home and your job has panned out ok.
congrats! I've heard Nashville is a fun town. I'm sure you'll settle in nicely and hopefully you won't have to move for a long time!
Congrats! Sounds like a lot of moves, but hopefully this will be the last one!
Nashville is just georgeous! My sis lived in Franklin...that area is just awesome...and downtown Nashville is a hoppin' spot! Too bad that she just moved to Savannah.......Id have you meet her...
Moving is such a mess, ut it's always worth it when you're all unpacked in your new place. Good luck with the move and the job!
Good Luck with your move. I hope everything goes well.
I hate MOVING!!! I refuse to ever pack up an entire house again.
Good luck, lbj! Hopefully this will be your last move!
Chris
Moving AND a new job, pretty stressful :( Good luck, hopefully you'll love your new job and won't have to move again.
Congrats on the new job. Nashville is a pretty nice place, but the traffic can be murder especially towards Hermitage and Murfreesboro.
It's always exciting to start a new phase of life. All of the possibilities of new friends and new experiences. I'm sure it will go well for you. Hopefully your new place is one you really like. Do you have a yard? Good luck with the move.
Yes moving is stressful, and so is a new job. But remember, stress is not what happens to you, it's what YOU DO WITH WHAT HAPPENS!!! Try to view this as a exciting new challenge full of new opportunity. The unknown is scarey and packing and packing is HARD WORK but think of the new firends and the new experiences.

I grew up the child of an IBM Dad back in the days when IBM REALLY ment I've BEEN MOVED. He was a contract manager for Government Contracts so we went where the contracts were. I moved 16 times in 18 years and went to a new school almost every year. As an adult I've had a bit more stability but have moved enough to consider myself a "pro" at it.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gosh Ginny I might be asking you for advice soon, we are just putting our home on the market and moving after being here for 23 years, I am stressing about it 8O I keep thinking of all the junk I have hoarded in the place for that period of time, the thought of it all is scary!!!

HAHAHAHAHA, one big lesson I learned with all that moving is to "travel light" I am the opposite of a pack rat, if I haven't used something, worn something or thought of it in the past year it gets THROWN OUT!!!! When you move alot you learn to clean closets, get rid of stuff and not keep what isnt absolutely necessary (and you'd be surprised at what you DON'T REALLY NEED).

My best advice is START NOW. Take one closet at a time and start to sort and pitch.

After 30 years of moving my parents finally settled into a home where they stayed for about 25 years. They went south "for the winter" where my Mom died. My Dad was unable to come back north to empty and sell the house so I was assigned the task. I think in response to all the moving they had done they had turned into pack rats in their later years and empyting a house of their 25 years acucmulation was a mountainous task and it took me weeks and weeks. I could not believe the things my Mom had saved!!! DON'T DO THAT TO YOUR KIDS!!!!!!!!!! Clean your closets now

Have fun
