1st visit to the Dogpark for Rags

Well, I figured bringing Pepsi & Rags would be fun.
It took 15 minutes to just get in the park. First I took Hayley out of the car and put her in her stroller closer to the gate entrance. Then I went to retrieve one of the dogs. Both jumped out of the car. So that's 70 lbs of Pepsi and 60 lbs of Rags. 8O They almost ripped my arms from the sockets. I got then into the first entrance, a gated off section and left the dogs in there and went to get Hayley.
Ahh... Finally we all made it into the park.
Pepsi takes off and body slams the first dog he sees. Oops. 8O
Rags takes off running like a gazelle. Pepsi still runs doing the puppy bounce. Rags is so much more graceful.
They ran with the pack and had a blast. Played ball with other dogs.
All was well. :D They these two black dogs run up to Pepsi and the one bite his butt. Pepsi starting running and the black dogs gave chase, both were running with Pepsi in the middle of them. Both nipping at him. I heard his yelp. Next thing I know Rags is charging these two black dogs. She stands close to 3 inches taller than Peps.
They immediately stopped chasing Pepsi. Pepsi came back and sat against my leg. Rags sat directly in front of Pepsi. His sweet protector
:D

LOL what a story!

Way to go, Rags!
Awww....what a good girl! :D

Personally, I think you should get a medal for taking two dogs and Hayley to the dog park by yourself! :D
Thanks :D

Sorry for the typing errors. Hayley was sitting on my lap while I was writing.

Rags was a very good girl and I am very proud of her.

Tammy, getting out of the dog park was just as crazy.
I got us all in the enclosed entryway, First took Pepsi out, then Rags, then back for Hayley. Then folder the stroller and finally away we went. Another ordeal but at least I only had one dog pulling me at a time.
When I was 8 month preggers I took Harley, Pepsi, Peanut & Ryan to the dog park :cow: That was pretty crazy too.
Crazy!!! Rags is such a sweetie for Pepsi.
Ahhh! That is so sweet!
Isn't that how it works with sibilings......."I can pick on my brother, but nobody else can......" Cute story!!!
Wow that is so awesome. I hope that Barkley and Sheba eventually reach that kind of relationship. I admire you taking on the challenge of having them both in the dogpark at once. I won't even take mine for a walk together!
lol.....great story!!......sweet Rags!!
That just goes to show you never mess with a "big" sister. :D

Amanda
Yay Rags! Elissa, your ability to manage complex situations never fails to impress me :D
What a great story, on so many levels! First, that she was so protective of Pepsi. Second, that she feels close enough to Pepsi in such a short time with you to WANT to protect him. Way cool!

What breed were the two black dogs? Labs? Did they draw blood on Pepsi? Where were the owners? How scary that must have been for you!

Chris
Wasn't Rags just spayed last week? I guess I am an over-protective mom. I am not even letting my girl walk up and down stairs, yet.

Chris one looked like a Lab/German Shepherd and the other looked like an Australian Shepherd Mix. I am not sure where the owner's or owner was. Probably at the other end of the park. They were playing nice with Pepsi prior to this. Then after the incident they didn't bother him at all.

Yes, she was just spayed last Wednesday. She's been running around like a lunatic with Pepsi since last weekend. That is why I figured running around at the dog park was no biggy. Her stitches look great, so I have no concerns.
So nice they've bonded like that....I too love the off leash park...but Remy wants to herd other dogs and generally p's them all off.
Awww great story, love the ordeal of just getting hayley, and doggies into the dog park, can relate to that, but years ago for me LOL

Yay Rags and Pepsi, you know you should train them to pull a cart, 2 dog power engine, then they can drive you and hayley around the dog park in style 8)
That Rags is my kinda girl. That makes me mad when people allow their dogs to hurt our sheepies. I can barely get Hannah and Copper in the dog park, I can't imagine adding a baby to the equation. When we go to the dog park Copper is the energizer bunny and friendly with everyone. Hannah on the other hand thinks she is a person and wants to stay with me the whole time. I have to walk away from her but she just shadows me. Give Rags an extra kiss for being such a hero and protecting her brother. Give Pepsi a kiss for the abuse he took. Bad other dogs

I wouldn't trust them...lol They'd flip over a cart the way they run.
They are always slamming into each other.

Las Vegas Sheepie Lover, It makes me mad too when people aren't paying attention to their dogs and their dogs are ganging up on another. I would never let my dogs do that.

Hayley was being virtually attacked by a Yellow Lab. This dog was licking her so hard that it pushed her stroller back. The owner was nowhere to be found. I had to literally pick up this FAT Lab and push him away and stand in front of the stroller. I walked finally had had enough and walked the dog park to find the owner and ask him to please stop his dog. I finally passed a guy who said "Boy, my John had so much fun with your daughter I should forget about toys and get him a baby" He left....thankfully and we stayed a while after that. Rags tried to push the Lab away but he was a BIG dog.
So true, Elissa. You have to watch your own and everybody else's. Poor Hayley. You must have been so frustrated!
I always wonder if people aren't watching their dogs play, how will they know if they stop and go potty? Nice excuse not to pick it up, I guess.
