A Shot in the Dark - Need present ideas for my fiance

Okay, I've been on the computer all morning and I'm not having much luck... My fiance's birthday is coming up, March 9th, and I have no idea what to get him?! My birthday present wa my engagment ring, so I feel like I have to somewhat live up to that. He's into gaming (computer, playstation, etc.), skateboarding, movies, basically he's kind of a geek. It seems like he's got everything already. Like the subject says, it's pretty much a shot in the dark, but anyone have ideas??

Hmm..does he have a 360? My husband says that was his best gift ever. :)
Maybe a romantic weekend away (you don't even have to go anywhere  )

does he have a psp?

you could put together a gift basket of different games and movies. maybe include a membership to something like netflix or isn't there a game one, too?

just some ideas... :D
he doesn't have one of those actually, but for some reason he is prejudice against those - that and the few stories he's heard about them starting on fire, or some crazy thing like that! It would be such an easy option too - the system and a few games, but he's weird like that! thanks though!!
oh yeah, and he's the store owner for a Movie Gallery... we get free movies anyway

the game one is called gamefly, they have a website, just add .com

anyway, that's a pretty good idea...if he's seriously into games.

Fire? Eek! I know some of the harddrives are buggy and have crashed. Jason's first one did, but they sent him a new one and he got it the next day. They were really quick about it.

Jason sounds a lot like your fiancee, and I think just about any new electronic gizmo or gaming system would work for him. The PSP is a good idea. Jason has one of those, and it's come in handy for him with deployments or long trips.

Maybe a new computer game, like a MMO, with a paid subscription to it?

Sattellite radio for his car with a subscription? Ipod?
he has a psp, maybe I'll get him a new game for that. I just had an idea, perhaps Dungeons and Dragons Online with subscription - but I'm torn... then he'll be on that all the time and I'll never see him

I have friends that play it (beta), and they all say it's a very good game. WoW is another one everyone loves. I haven't tried either of them. :) I know how you feel. With my husband, he got hooked on Star Wars Galaxies, and I hardly saw him. Now, he spends all his free time on 360 live playing with other people. *sigh* lol Sometimes, I feel like he's always deployed.
oh yes... WoW... I despise that game  He played on a friends for awhile and I saw what happened to his friend - he would stay up for 3 days in a row playing WoW non-stop and then sleeping for a day and going back at it... I know Nick would never end up like that but just the thought of it! This 'friend' of his was a huge loser anyway, no job, no school, mooched off of his girlfriend. I wouldn't put it up with it. Maybe I can give him D&D online and then set time restricttions  yeah right, what kind of a gift would it be then!!
I don't know anything about computer games, but...how about giving him a nice engraved money clip. My husband really liked it and I think I gave it to him as a wedding gift.
My husband loves all those technical gadgets and games and stuff, but I would NEVER buy him anything technical. He is too picky about what he wants. If I say, I want a camera (or whatever), I'm pretty easy about it, but my husband would be like I want the X5J type 2 model with the extenda bridge detail in the chrome/silver color, not the silver/chrome with the 3 part lense enhancer, but do NOT get the x5j type 1model, etc....
Maybe a new skateboard? Or a skate video?
What about a nice watch with a message engraved on the back?
My husband loves games etc too, not fanatically or anything. His job is computers....so it is what I avoid.

Instead I am the romantic in our relationship...I do sneaky romantic stuff. Play treasure hunts..send him clues to follow. Reservations and candle dinner at home, bubble bath for two, coupon for a massage.

His fav gift was a watch, and I only spent $15.

 that is hilarious, Nick would be the exact same way!
What a significant other without a wish list? Can you work it into a conversation of things he might want. My husband is a techie too and everything has to be the latest technology and the most complicated thing on the market. I usually just ask him what he wants. He always likes a G/C to Fry's and could probably spend hours there. Of course a vacation is always great even just a day or two away. Then there's always s__. I think that's always at the top of the list. (Can we mention that here?)
How about getting him a sheepie? Just like Lays potato chips...you can't just have one!!

Okay I'm not quite serious but I couldn't think of anything to suggest. Sorry I couldn't be more help, although I think a romantic getaway where you planned everything would be a nice thing to do.

Marianne and the boys
The way I look at it is, if he loves computer toys, gadgets, computers, games etc...these things may not be something he'd want you to buy. Kinda like buying a carpentar the wrong tool brand....=D

Another idea is go back to his childhood. My husband for example loved to make model airplanes...so for fun I bought him a model kit. He loved that. I also got him a telescope since he has always loved the planets, stars, meteors, and finding satillites. Next gift might be a microscope....just for fun to place things under and look at them...he can share with the kids.

He is also a fan of chess, and I never played...so I spent weeks trying to learn with the computer, bought him a chess set and suprised him. We went out for a nice dinner, I set up a bubble bath for him...when he came out I had choc dipped strawberries, wine, candles and the game of chess all set up to play....=D it was a total suprise to him, another favorite anniversary to him.

My husband also loves to down hill ski...and I haven't done this for 20 years...so this year for our anniversary as a gift to him, I am willing to give it a try when we go to Banff, AB. In the mountains. We may not have time, but the idea thrills him that I am willing to try for him.

Let us know how it goes. P.S my cousin is giving birth on March 8, our anniversary is March 7...
So far I've gotten him 2 zombie books and a GWAR cd (heavy metal/rock band) and I think I'm going to get Dungeons and Dragons online with a few months subscription.

Oh, and the list idea... yeah, I've tried. Every christmas or special occasion I try to get him to write me a list but he says he wants all surprises and refuses to give ANYONE a list, ever. He thinks I should know him well enough, etc and try to really understand what he likes and such.. blah blah blah, I just want a list  I am so not good at coming up with unique gift ideas!

By the way, you guys have been a lot of help! Thanks a bunch!

One more thing: Las Vegas Sheepie - you wouldn't offend me if you mentioned that here:P
What type of movie? If he's into oldies, maybe some Hollywood memerobilia (spelling? I'm sleepy).

GPS? TomTom or one of the others?

Give him a large box, beautifully wrapped, filled with decorative tissue paper and an envelope.

When he opens the envelope there should just be a single piece of paper, which reads:
Quote:
You didn't want to give me any ideas about what you'd like, you said you wanted to be surprised.

SURPRISE!
Of course, you can still give him the GWAR and the other stuff (after making him sweat it out for a few minutes), but just maybe this will encourage him to be more helpful next time. :D
