Hi Kristen,

Thanks for the reply. I already know Theresa and her pups Lucy and Jasper (I think) from the laryngeal paralysis listserve. I'm just trying to find out how many of us there are out there. Best wishes.

Would you be so kind as to post here the web address or other instructions to join the laryngeal paralysis listserve?

This is so if someone finds this thread in the future, they will be able to find the listserve easily.

Thanks!
Hi Ron,
Here is the address for the LP (laryngeal paralysis) listserv.

Ron,
I notice that you are the site administrator. How do I get those little smileys in my e-mail? I have tried clicking and clicking and dragging and I can't seem to get them in my post. I get the keyboard equivalent, but I want the smiley!! Thanks.
Sandy
The keyboard equivalent is inserted into the text box... when you preview or submit the post, it should change them into the smileys.

Make sure that the box to "Disable Smilies in this post" is NOT checked!

That should do it. Let me know.
I work for a vet but I have never herd of this can you tell me what it is.
thanks toot
Hey Ron...remember the problem with smileys I`ve been having?...It`s the same as MomPoorman is having (clicking and dragging) ...I can put them in the keyboard fashion.
Laryngeal paralysis is a degenerative, congenital disease which results in a paralized larynx (sp?). It can also be acquired through trauma. Symptoms are exercise, heat, stress intolerance resulting in a loud, wheeze when the dog breathes (strydor). In most extreme cases, death can result from airway blockage (paralyzed larynx blocking trachea). It can be corrected with surgery only, which is very successful. Mostly seen in older dogs and lab, golden breeds particularly. Rare in OES but my 2 year old baby Oliver almost died last July from this disease. We suspected he had it but diagnostics did not show the condition. It is also rare in this breed and in a young dog. Most local vets are not familiar with it because it is the ER room vets and surgeons who see these dogs.
My personal vet suspected it from symptoms described but in 30 years of practice has never had another dog with it.

The box that needs to be checked with Emoticons Enabled is located under your PROFILE.
What I just noticed is that even though I have HTML checked as enabled in my PROFILE, it reads as OFF down at the bottom of this posting box.
I see Smilies and BBCode as On in this window, before I hit submit.

I take it Vero and Mompoorman do not see a set of Emoticons on the left side of this (as in the editing or posting page. Not the page you are actually viewing at this moment, but the one I am typing on---) page under Message Body? Or if you do see them, they don't just appear in the message when you select them :?: with your cursor and right click :?:
