Weight loss check-in

Today I weighed in after my first week on Weight Watchers (I've lost and gained lots of weight on WW but this time I'm serious). Lost 2.2 pounds! I'm very proud of myself. 2.2 down, a lot more to go.

And I celebrated by eating a chocolate heart. Which I counted towards my daily allotment of food.

Congratulations, Paula!!

Way to go!! I like their plan too and although I don't go to the meetings, I do follow the plan. It works when you work it! :D
That's exactly what I said at class today. It works if you write everything down and follow the plan. My friend lost 5.8 pounds--I'm very proud of her.
Good work Paula! If you're interested in where your lbs went I got them :D
Excellent!! :clappurple:
Holly, if you don't want my pounds, feel free to pass them to someone else.

Is that Beau in your avatar?
Congratulations Paula!!!! 2.2 is great, in fact it is fantastic!!! WW works.

I started at WW in 2000, and have lost a total of 78lbs following their plan. It is one of the easiest weight loss programs. You do not deprive yourself of anything, you are just accountable for it.

My goal when I first started was to loose 1lb per week.. I figured if I did that, that would be 52lbs in a year. That was doable...I was not going to give up anything I truly loved, ie. coffee cream, butter or cheese. I did not focus on exercise in the first year.. my goal was to loose weight. After I achived my goal weight, then I committed myself to exercise.

I am not an expert on WW but I truly believe that if you following these 3 simple rules you will come out a winner.

1. ALWAYS write your points in your journal.. not matter if its 15pts or 5. You are only fooling yourself. I have had many 40pt days in the last 5 years, but I don't beat myself up about it.. there is always tomorrow.

2. ALWAYS drink your water.. I hate it, but I do it.. my goal is to get my water into me before noon.. it's done and over with for the day then..

3. ALWAYS attend your weekly meetings. I have consistantly gotten weighed the same day, at the same time, wearing the exact same clothes for 5 years.. some might think thats strange, but its consistant.

I discovered a website a few years ago that is nothing but WW receipes, free, you don't have to pay to use the website.. and also the creator of the website will also design you a chat/graph that maps your progress on a weekly basis, he creats it for you, but you imput the information yourself after that. If it's okay with Ron, I will post the link to the website, so everyone has the benifit of using it.

Keep up the good work.

Brenda
Good job! :)

I've had a rather disappointing couple of weeks in the weight department. As of last Monday I started dieting, watching calories, eliminated sugar and junk food, etc....
Between Monday and Friday I lost 3 lbs so I was happy with that. Between Friday and Sunday I gained back 2 lbs and today I am right back to where I started :(
What I need to do is exercise, I have such a slow metabolism.... to lose weight I was keeping my calories under 1000 a day. To gain it back I might have taken in about 1500 calories a day. :(
I'm such a sugar junkie, that is the hardest part for me.... and the fact that I don't exercise.
I'd like to find a routine I can follow that doesn't have some over-enthusiastic moron and horrible music in the video. LOL

How about some Richard Simmons tapes?

Actually, there's this series by a guy named "Gilead" I think.... shot in Israel maybe? I used to watch him from the sofa, while sipping on a milkshake (Hey! Just to wash down the Oreos. Don't judge!) back when I had cable...
Congrats Paula, time for me to join you on the weight loss bandwagon... :D
Hey, I love Richard Simmons! He's a great motivator for me. Willow, there are tons of non-annoying exercise videos. www.videofitness.com has reviews of just about every tape. Gilead is of the boot camp style. I think he used to be an Israeli commando. Kari Anderson is very no nonsense and is a former dancer. The Firm is tough--aerobics with weights. I also like Leslie Sansone (Walk Away the Pounds) but she is slightly perky. Avoid Denise Austin--OTT perky with schmaltzy music. But a lot of ladies love her.
Stacey, that's not enough calories. You really shouldn't go below 1200 per day...the fewer calories you eat, the slower your metabolism gets. So, the thing to kick start your metabolism, so you can eat more and lose weight is to start eating more (good, healthy foods) and exercising and then your metabolism automatically speeds up...

I know, I am one of those 1200 calories a day person otherwise I will gain weight too, but it is true, it just seems counterintuitive to eat more to lose weight...
That is great! :clappurple:

You are brave to get on a scale! I haven't been on one since I was preganant w/ Josh! 8O

I am trying to loose too, I just am going to go by how I feel and how my clothes fit!

I bought a Nordic Track Treadmill over the weekend.....and have been running 2x's a day for a total of 3 miles! Also trying to cut out the carbs, but it is hard! I LOVE CARBS!!!!!!!!!
Paula, that is Beau. I've been trying hard to give those 2 lbs away but they appear to like me
Woo Hoo Way to go Paula, keep up the good work. I am following your progress like a hawk hoping to pick up some good tips

Me too Stacey :( Sugar seems to be my main food group. I don't eat meat but chocolate.......
Are chocolate bunnies a source of protein? They're shaped like an animal so that means meat, right? But by that logic I guess marshmallow peeps would be protein too. Hmmmmm
:clappurple: Congratulations, Paula! :clappurple:
Way to go!! :P

Someone already suggested videofitness.com for reviews. But I wanted to suggest www.CollageVideo.com . On Collage you can view a 60 second preview of all the videos to see if you like them. I've been doing a lot of step aerobics lately and Christi Taylor is a lot of fun. Very cool music.
My new years resolution was to lose some weight. I've still got to lost baby weight, and my youngest is 3! lol It came off easy, without dieting or exercising, with my first two kids, but the weight just stuck with the third one. It's funny, because with him, I was more active and gained less weight than with the first two. So...I've been trying to lose 30-40 pounds. I've been following the Bill Phillips plan, and I don't own a scale, but my jeans are starting to slide down me. I can pull them on and off without unbuttoning them. I think it's time to go shopping! I still don't want to get a scale - if I haven't lost much weight, just inches, I'll still get discouraged. :)

I'm also lucky enough to be able to use the gym on base for free. I try and sneak there whenever my husband will watch the kids. They also have classes and personal trainers available for free, but I haven't used those yet. The classes don't work well timewise for my kids, and they don't have babysitters at the gym there. That's one reason I'm considering to start using the YMCA. It'll cost money, but they're like 2 minutes away and they have a child "exercise" room that is supervised and the boys could play in while I work out.
Way to go Paula!!!!! Keep us posted!!!!!!
