Daisy is DEPRESSED, what can I do?

Daisy is having a really difficult time without Beau. Since last Monday she's been lying in front of the door waiting for him to come back :( They were very close, she was always looking out for him and would lay next to him for hours keeping the boys away so he could rest. She will hardly eat, not even treats, and her eyes are so sad. I feel so bad for her, is there anything I can do to help her?

Awwww poor girl :(
I really don't know what to suggest, but please give her a hug from me :(
I had the same problem with Kelsey when peppa passed away, no eating total lack of interest in anything, fretting big time, I thought I was going to at the time loose her as well. A bit of advice I can give is she will snap out of it, keep her busy by extra walks, sleeping in your room with you, extra attention and fussing over her, take her in the car and virtually be there for her as much as you can and I am sure in a period of time she will return to her happy self. I thought Kelsey would never get over it but she did and it was about a good 2 months later that the spark returned to her.

I feel very sad for you and daisy as I do know what daisy and you are going through and yes I do believe that dogs greive too, especially when daisy and beau have had such a strong bond together.
we are having the same problem with badger since bitza passed away they were really close ive taken him on extra walks and given him more attention trying to keep him busy. Some days this works other days it doesnt he just lays in bitza's bed i feel so sorry for him. so i know what you are going through at the moment.
Bentley says Daisy can come over and play with him, maybe that would help?
Poor Daisy. :( Maybe distraction will be good for her. Perhaps a playdate with Bentley will help - since he's not one of her "brothers" and it'll be something different to do - in a different location.
Work at it. I did loose a dog to mourning. She was old, yes, but she never came back after Shane's passing. She just gave up.
Alot of extra attention! Lots of belly rubs and kisses!

Unfortunatly, my brother had one dog pass (Beauford) and left (Zeke) in deep depression, he too passed a couple months later...not sure if it was due to age, as they were both older dogs but my SIL insists that it was due to depression/broken heart!

I am not one to rush to the vets, but my SIL said that the vet could have perscribed depression "drugs" to get him through.

May be worth a shot if the rubs and kisses don't work! Anything to help!!

Give Daisy extra "lovins" from all of us!! I am sure she will pull through just fine!!!!
Hi Holly-
Call your vet and ask if they would prescribe an anti-depressant for Daisy for short term use. When she starts to respond to the treatment possibly introduce a new activity. She knew her role when she had Beau and now she's lost that purpose. It might help her to get through this difficult time. Once she's adjusted you can wean her off it.
: :) Hi Holly, Have you thought of looking for another puppy? When my cat Tigger died his companion, Edwina actually howled when she couldn't find him. I gave her extra TLC and then after a month or so found Percival, 2 months old who turned out to be a little brat! They are now fast friends and sleep together on my bed at night.Willoughby sends Daisy a big hug and says he's sorry we're so far away.
Oh Holly...my heart is just breaking for both you and Daisy!

I would talk to your vet...can't hurt. Please give a huge hug to both you and Daisy from us.
You guys are so insightful! Jaclin, I do believe you're right about losing her purpose......so we are currently putting out feelers for a couple of puppies. Not right away, but it won't hurt to look :) Maybe a rescue also. We are looking for a new house so in fairness to any new dogs we will wait until after that. We'll have to find a new theme for all the names!
You should name the new puppy Enus or Cooter.
:lol I think there was someone named Cletis, that's my FIL's name so that one's out.
Or General Lee!

That would work for male or female, I think.
I'm talking LOTS of names people, Benny is looking at entire litters 8O When he regains his senses I think it will only be 2.
How about a girls day out for you and Daisy. :D
My heart is breaking for you and Daisy. Can she have extra treats, hugs, walks or rides?
