Chummie is down to 72 pounds!

Since I last posted on Chummie's diet at the end of November, she has lost another 5 pounds, bringing her total weight loss since July to 18 pounds!! The rate of loss has slowed down, which was my intent because I think she is pretty close to ideal weight at this point. But I am glad she was able to shed a few more pounds without trying too hard. She looks great!

Great job!!! :)
I bet she feels better all over....
OOOOOHHHH a skinny Chummie.....dont let her get too thin like mick jaggar 8O
Definitely not! She still looks pretty substantial. Maggie is more like Mick. She's so bony. I am not sure if I should be feeding her more. She gets 3 cups per day but she's very active.
Yea, Chummie!   She looks great!
Val....Post pics of the new and lean Chummie!!
gtrat job Chum!!!
Good news! Now a little more exercise to firm up the flab??
That's great news val, it will help her enormously with getting up etc. How old is chummie now?

You have done so well with the wieght loss on her
I've lost 32 lbs since the end of November, maybe Chummie and I should do a TV Ad like Kirstie Allie      CAN YOU SEE IT NOW????????????
Wow, Val, that's great!! Now she's down in Drez territory - Drez is 70 lbs. Bet she seems more active, huh? Not as much girth to carry around. Kudos!

If you cannot feel your dogs ribs without pressing down, then they are over the ideal weight. But if the dog is boney, and you can easily feel the vertebrae, and the hip bones, then they are underweight. Perhaps you can feed her a bit more, like 1/2 cup or so to start, and then see how she does.

Bosley has always eaten 5 to 6 cups of Nutro Puppy a day, and he is very fit and thin. He is between 65 and 70 pounds.

Now that he is more active, with Dixie and him playing so much, he is polishing off his bowl, and looking for more. I am adding another cup or so, because he is thin and obviously needs it. I cannot believe the food he goes through.

Dixie, on the other hand, is smaller but eats less than half of what he eats. And she is so boney, that I want her to eat more, but she is not a big eater.

I was at the dog park tonite, and I cannot get over all the overweight dogs there are. I am so afraid that one of those heavy dogs running around with have a heart attack and fall over right then and there!
Obesity in dogs is a big health problem, so I am glad that Chummie is going in the right direction.

The thing is, Chum is so fluffy that only a few people have even noticed that she lost weight. Looking down from above, you can see a cute hourglass shape. I'll try to get some good pictures. I still can't feel her ribs easily so I suppose she has more to lose. Sounds like I need to feed Maggie a bit more. . . I can feel her ribs and spine very easily. People at the park are always commenting on how fast and agile she is.

Speaking of overweight, I was talking to a woman at the park today with an adorable but very heft chocolate lab. He was young, but he could barely keep up with the other dogs. He is so cute and I was worried that he would just keel over. His owner seemed to think that it was just the stocky shape of a lab. Poor fatty.

What is it with lab owners? That is always what is said...they are stocky or that is their build. Please...... They are FAT!
Yay Chumley!!!
Now it's Pepsi's turn. He needs to give his extra weight to Rags.
His coat is not very long and he looks like a sausage 8O
That's great new, Val! Way to go Chumley!! :D

And, Ginny - wow!! A loss of 32 lbs - amazing! You're way ahead of me! :D
Yay Chumley!!!! :D
Thanks everyone! CHummie appreciates the support.
