My bossy OES in Anchorage Alaska

I have a 7 month old OES, she is my first of the breed. She seems to think that she runs the house. I have a 14yr old chow mix and a new puppy that is OES/Golden Ret. She is great with the new puppy but is always pushing the older dog away from getting any attention. Any suggestions?

I'm sure that others that have more experience with multiple dogs in the home will answer you, I'll be of little help.

But I wanted to jump right in and welcome you to the forum! We have another member with a puppy in your neck of the woods, I'm hoping she'll chime in here too!!!

Welcome!
Thank You,
I have had multiple dogs at onetime before, but like I said this is my first OES. She is a wonderful dog but very pushy for all the attention.
LOL...sounds like you have got a true sheepie, thru and thru!

She is probably just trying to establish herself as leader of the pack...you just have to make sure YOU are!

Of course I say this...but I'm totally OWNED by my Muppets...so listen to what I SAY...not what I DO!
Welcome to the forum! :)

I would suggest totally ignoring her when she acts bossy or pushy trying to get attention. Then when she is behaving as you want her to, reward her with lots of attention and praise then.
WELCOME! I have a bossy female, Annie, over here. We don't have other dogs so I can't help you out. Sorry.
Welcome! I too have a pushy puppy, aka a sheepie! I thought in the beginning "he is out of control" but after being a part of the family here I have come to realize that is a sheepie for you! Ben cannot stand it when Kiara gets any attention! He isn't aggressive just likes to walk all over her.

I have learned to not get in the middle and let Kiara tell him what to do...that doesn't happen often but, when it does he gets the point.....

Good Luck!
Thanks for all of the input. I thought it was just me. I have had many dogs. All of them mutts. Pally is just a nut!!!! Good to know it is part of the breed. I will post a pic of her soon. Thanks Again :) [/b]
just checkin to see if the pic I put on is showing
yes, they are a stubborn/pushy breed, they have to be center of attention, you grow to love it! I would also like to see pictures of your sheepie mix, I've never seen one mixed with a golden before!! My Daphne girl (almost 8 months) is mixed with an Aussie!
I wanted to add to that! Merlin, my very spoiled little baby ( 14 1/2 mo.) is very pushy when it comes to me and my fiance. If I'm sitting in bed, Merlin is usually on the floor - unless Nick comes in - then Merlin is right up in bed with me and on Nick's side! Or when we hug or try to cuddle, Merlin always tries to get in middle, he's never aggressive but he just really does not want to share me! NIck gets pretty frustrated, but it makes me feel so loved! I kind of appreciate his stubborness at times, he loves his mommy so!! :D
