Winter Olympics

Hey!

Is everypne excited for the olympics? It seems like there is not as much of a focus on it this year, at least in the US. i prefer the summer olympics more, as I love watchong the equestrian events. I enjoy the winter olympics too though- I love to watch the bobsledding and luge. My insurance agent actually WAS an olympic bobsledder in the 80s! It was really interesting- he brought in photo album so we could look at it... There's even a picture of him with the Prince of Monaco! Who I guess is now King of Monaco... I didn't even know he bobsledded!

Anyhow...

Is anyone else looking forward to watching the olympics?

only hockey, the rest of the winter olympics are for weinies.

seriously,

figure skating: snore.
skiing: BEHOLD! THE MIGHTY POWER OF GRAVITY!
luge(SP?): almost cool.
bobsled: would be sweet if they didn't know the course.
Winter Olympics rock. There is always the possibility of injury and drama. I love the Olympics--one of my fondest memories is having a nasty viral illness in 1984 and watching the Sarajevo Olympics from my couch. I don't want to be that sick now, but if I could, I'd stay home for 2.5 weeks and do nothing but watch the Olympics. And eat.

Summer Olympics are cool, but there are too many events.

Anyone remember Eddie the Eagle, the ski jumper from Great Britian who was so bad he became a cult hero?
Love the winter olympics.Just been watching the opening of them on tv.

Hoping to watch the snowboarding this year. Not into the figure skating much find it a bit boring.

Luge and bobsled are a must see.

Eddie the Eagle Edwards made loads of money Being a cult figure after the olympics. Then he lost the lot.
The last i heard of him he was at uni training to be a lawyer.
Sorry Ed, but i completley disagree with you

I love love love the figure skating. Michael Kwan is great, she's contributed a lot to the skating world as a whole, but i am obsessed with Sasha Cohen :clappurple: She is just so unpredictable, she can be better than everybody or just stink it up, i HAVE to root for her

Plus i know a few guys on the olympic hockey team from high school so it's always fun to watch.

Come on Ed, you should take time to relly enjoy the winter olympics, who knows you may actaully see something there you might like, like Sasha Cohen in scanndly(sp?) clad ice skating outfits

I'll probably watch hockey and figure skating. I was going to watch Bode Miller but I'm a little put off by what he's done.

What'd he do?
Well talked it up big time. He was on 60 minutes and I lost all respect for him after what he said. Basically that he does what he wants (he's even competed while drunk- :? ) and doesn't listen to coaches. Which I think is part of being a good athelete is respect for others on your 'team' and your coach. I don't know-He's still cute though!

I just looove the winter Olympic, no wonder, since the Norwegian is taking home a hole lot of medallions  You guys have to watch the cross country, and the ski jump, and skating we take it all

:D :clappurple:
You'd have to push me off the top of a mountain, hold me up on the ice, and I'd never intentionally jump in a faster than light sled, soooooo yes, I enjoy watching. Only gold medal I'll ever have is the ring on my left hand. Getting ready to watch opening ceremony shortly.
Go USA!!! Good luck to everyone. Mouthypf

:clappurple: Yoohoo!!!!! We are the CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!
We are gone to bring home between 8 or 10 gold medals!!!
The first one will come to morrow!
Go for it NORWAY!
Alas, the nordic events don't get much coverage here. Pity, I prefer events where the clock is the judge, not humans.

There is so much figure skating on television these days, I find it booooooring. That said, I've only seen the quad done once, that might be worth waiting for.
Oh I love all the sports, really look forward to watching all the events, especially ice -skating!

My son's second cousin (ex's cousin) is the Mayor of Vancouver and will be recieving the torch on behalf of Vancouver (my city) at the end of the games in Turino, as we'll be hosting the next Olympics in 2010. You guys can stay at my house!!!

Marianne and the boys
I watch whatever event happens to be on at the time. Definitely hockey! WooHoo Mike Modano!!!! Although the year the olympic hockey team tour up their hotel rooms kind of sucked.
I also have to watch figure skating because my niece and nephew have been in training for a few years (read all their lives) and we'll have to have a family discussion about the goings on. If you don't watch it you're so in the doghouse.

I like that they added the extreme sports to the winter olympics. Makes it new and fun still.

Oh and we have to watch curling because my husband used to be on a curling team and he gets all excited and yells at the screen like it's football. Now that's weird!
I have awoke this morning to the Olimpics that will be constantly on in our house. My boyfriend is a sports junkie. His entire wardrobe is made of team Canada and Vancouver canucks wear.
I am only interested in watching team Canada hockey....If we want to watch it live it starts at 5am here.
It's nice to see the Olimpics on the front page rather than the Rick Tocchet scandal.
:( I take back again the big word from yesterday. We just got 3 silver
and 2 bronze medals!

:clappurple:  But CONGRATULATIONS to Willowsprite and Canada with the gold medal, and of course USA for the gold to!
LOL
I don't usually remember to watch it, I am not really interested in any of it, except the hockey.... olympic hockey still doesn't seem to have the same air of excitement that playoff hockey does... maybe that's just me?
I used to be very involved with figure skating, I competed quite a lot when I was younger. Now though, to watch them, just reminds me of what I can't do anymore.
