Bought or Rescued

I thought this would be kinda cool to see just how many of our dogs were bought and how many rescued.
I have two rescued Sheepies....
Vote once for each dog you have

Ron is there a way to vote more than once??

Barney was rescued!
I don't think there is a way to vote more than once, currently I have 2 oes that I bought, and one husky that I rescued.
Darn, I thought we could maybe get an accurate count.
I was just curious.... Oh Ron.....
Bought 2 , rescued 2...opps! I mean bought 2, rescued 1, fostering 1.
Well, I bought Benjamin! :D But, I adopted Kiara from PetSmart, adopted Samson from the local shelter and I got Stormie from this little old lady down the road (who has like.... 20 cats  8O )!!!

So I voted as "Bought" as I considered that this is a Sheepie issue right???
i bought jack. at the time i had some preconceived notion that rescue dogs were more trouble than they are worth.

NOW, having been here awhile, and seen the gorgeous babies you have rescued, i know how childish that was, but it took knowing their stories to get to know what a favor you are doing these great dogs and the world by taking them in.

my 2 cats are adopted.
I have had 3 rescues 2 OES and 1 mix.

Fergie was given to me as a puppy.
New pup in spring will be given to us also.
Does that me bought?
We've rescued all 3 of ours. At rescue, they were 11 mos old, 18 mos old, and 28 mos old.

There are pros and cons to rescuing, of course. Pros are - most are already housebroken, teething stage has passed, and most are so grateful for being in a loving forever home that they turn out to be some of the best dogs ever! Cons are - no puppy breath, possible behaviorial problems that need to be attended to (which you could also get with a puppy), possible hidden medical problems (which you can also get with a puppy), and maybe not being able to name the dog. We've left all our dogs with the names they came with, would love to be able to name a dog some day.

But do I ever regret rescuing? Not for an instant!!!

Bought Remy, and rescued Ziva, rescued the cats, and rescued our guniea pig.

You could change the voting to include the option of (both).
I have one of each, too. Can we add "both" to the poll? :D
Well...I voted for "rescued"; however, I don't know if that's really what we did. The breeder turned ownership over to us when Annie's family didn't work out. Annie was never in harms way or in any danger. She was back living with the breeder.
Panda was bought as a Christmas gift for me....The best gift anyone could ask for...and I think better than Chocolate :D
Maizie was bought But I am hoping to get a rescue soon. :D
einy was bought but he was in such a terrible way god only knows what would have happened to him if we had walked away from him

we call him our expensive rescue pup

zoe and einy
I added the option "Both" to the poll.... good idea Tammy, wish I had thought of it sooner! LOL
Also need another option too, bred!!
Bought, bought, bought, bought.
Although Bob does like to think of Norman as a rescue because the only reason he bought him was that he was too big for his cage. :D
I found Daisy at the local animal shelter when she was 3 mos old and although I was looking for an older dog so that I didn't have to go through all the "puppy" nonsense, one look in those beautiful eyes- I was hooked and she knew it.
Both of my OES have been rescues, but we almost bought one before Blue came along unexpectedly. We'd been talking to a breeder for months while her girl was pregnant, then the week the puppies were born, we got a call from the New England OES Rescue saying there was a sheepie in need at a local Humane Society. We rushed over and fell in love at first dirty, stinky sight. LOL

One of each and love them both the same! :hearts:
Of the 7 dogs: 4 bought ,3 rescue
Our 2 horses and pony are rescue too. And one of the sheep!
First sheepie bought - show dog, next 2 sheepies rescued. Our pekignese that we had to put to sleep last year due to age - also bought.
We bought Jasper and rescued Joy
We don’t have rescue dogs in Norway, not of sheepdogs anyway :D
Hi,

I paid 1500 for Merlin. His lineage is impressive and has a background full of champions and I believe his brother is currently the Grand Champion of Canada. I paid show dog price for him.

Panda, whom comes more from humble beginnings so far has also cost 1500 although initially he was free! LOL. It's cost me 500 each time he's been sedated at the vets to get shaved, x-rays, blood work, ear cleaning, ect in other words the "works", while he's been under.

Shaggy whom was a "pound dog" ended up costing me aprox 4,000 (due to her medical condition) which she acquired later in her life.

Ralph, my rather frazzled looking three legged cat was a 1000 dollar cat although he too was a "pound kitty".

Mama Kat, the not so attractive kitty from the Humane Society is aprox a 700 dollar cat..due to her dental and other medical cost.

Overall...no price is too great as short of selling my soul to pay for any medical treatments...their lives are priceless, regardless of how they came to be in my home.

After rescueing a dog, Max, from my neighbor which I later had to put down because he bit someone I thought I'd never get another dog. But somehow I researched OES and now I have Patches. I bought her from a breeder as a puppy because I was afraid to go through the heartache I did with Max. ( I know buyer from a breeder doesn't guarentee you won't have problems but I just felt safer.)She has been a delight and now I'm hoping to win the lottery so I can buy a farm and do animal rescue. ((Anyone have any good idea's on numbers for the lottery!!!)
How do you vote more than once??
