Anyone have good plans for Valentine's Day?

Does anyone have any good plans? Or any good ideas? As of now, I think we have nothing planned

i'm aparently touring the nation.....
It will be like any other day. Except there will be chocolate.
I want to go out for dinner somewhere nice... but haven't made any reservations yet. Last time we tried doing that for valentines day w/ no reservations, we waited for 2 hours before we were seated... There is a little local italian place I've been dying to try out downtown. I'm also getting Mike a UMD movie for his PSP. Since it is a weekday, we're both working, So I can't really do any day-long things.
what's a UMD movie?
Nothing planned here either :( I'll be out of town for work.
There's a place here called Bear's Tooth that we may go to. You watch a new release at a nice table while some awesome tasting pizza is served to you. Yummy. I'm so hungry now. Then we have to get ready for my mom to visit. ...that won't be the exciting part, but cleaning it part of our plans. ;)
We celebrate on Monday so we don't have to worry about reservations and all that junk. I asked for a puppy but I don't think it's gonna happen. :(

The movies you play on the PSP thingie, they come on specially sized CD's.

I have no plans yet, We'd love to go and stuff ourselves to red lobster, but with Danita's pregnancy we're planning our going out on a day to day basis.
how's danita doing, saul?
Great minds think alike, Jill. We're celebrating on Monday too. I hate it when restaurants have "special" (read as "more expensive") menus for holidays. So we're going Monday when there will be less of a crowd and the regular menu!
She's doing great now!

We had a few scares all over the first trimester, she kept on bleeding and she was ordered almost a month of absolute bedrest. She was in bed most of the time and was unable to paint or go to work. It kept us really worried and stressed, until suddenly one day everything stopped and she was declared out of trouble. The doctor said her placenta was implanted on a very low position and that caused the bleeding, her belly was stretching and kept pulling the placenta up, it deattached and reattached to cope with the movement and was causing the bleeding. We didn't really say anything because we were afraid we could loose the baby.

Things stopped and now she's has happy as she can be. On the last sonogram baby was as happy as baby could be. Moves a lot and refused to let the doc see if it's a boy or a girl, every time the doc tried to see, baby turned around :? I guess is a shy baby. Due date is supposed to be around June 12th, almost on Danita's birthday. Two weeks ago the baby kicked for the first time and has been non stop since, she suddenly bursts out laughing when the baby does it, Danita thinks it's funny, i've only had a chance to feel the kicking twice :( but I talk to her belly and read books and play music, and Danita says she responds to those things... It's fun!

If she ever lets me catch a picture of her belly, I'll post one... :?

that's great to hear!

you sound like you're going to make a great father. :)

Why not eat chocolate every day?! :D I do!
That's so awesome Saul! I'm glad everything has straightened itself out, and Danita AND baby are feeling good!!!

Yes a UMD is a small disc that is specially formatted to play on the PSP (I think there may be other players out there too for the movies). the PSOP (along with a few games and one movie) was Mike's Christmas present, and he's always whining about how he only has the one movie to watch so... Luckily a local video game store sells them for about 15$ so it's not a big cut into the budget :) I'm hoping for some Godiva chocolate covered raspberries... I LOVE those!

Hope everyone has a good valentines day!

Karen :)
I'm so backwards sometimes when it comes to electronics! I thought that it was an abbreviation for a series of movies (like LOTR--lord of the rings) kind of thing. I was trying to think what it stood for!

The choco rasps sounds great!

I'm hoping that my husband will make reservations at a nice restaurant for sometime in the week surrounding V-Day--although the other day he made fun of me for something I said on this site--I didn't know he even went to this site--so I had better watch what I say from now on! I guess I can't mention if/what I am getting him. I keep telling him that this is our first married V-Day--we can't let the romance die yet!
it actually stands for universal media disk, supposedly that name ("universal") is justified by a few other products available in japan that use the disks, but in america, the name makes no sense, since they are UNIVERSAL media that only plays in one product.....

Do you have a PSP too Ed? I'm trying to decide which movie to get my hubby... so far he only has Starship troopers... Most of the UMD movies that are out we already have on DVD... We love our entertainment center... (maybe too much sometimes).

no i don't, i cut myself off from expensive toys when i left my job.... before then i purchased a gamecube, ps2, xbox, and a new computer, now i have lots of fun stuff but can hardly afford the electricity to run them...
No plans here :( I did however let the Hubby know that I like Chocolate too!!! For the past few years I have been buying him chocolate. I told him there is nothing wrong with tradition.... I want Chocolates!!!
Last year he got me a little girl charm for my necklace with Hayley's Birthstone on it. It matches the one I have for Ryan. 8)
I am sure I will get nothing more than chocolates this year... That's fine with me.
I plan on making a special dinner with my own recipe for Red Clam Sauce & Linguine :P Yummys!!!
Nothing at all...we don't celebrate the Hallmark holidays. :)
Why not eat chocolate every day?! I do!

Yeah, but on Valentine's Day you get to upgrade the quality.
Gail... Are you my husbands long lost sister?????? That is a comment that he would make...lol... :D So after saying that....guess what we will be doing??? (I will get a dozen Gladiolias)....

LMAO.... Well of course there is everyday Chocolate, like Reeses Peanut Butter Cups or Peanut Butter Twix... My Favorites :D
OK...story time, everybody pull up your chairs
When I was in Middle School my nickname was Reeses, because I always bought one at lunch....everyday without fail. I also weighed a wee 89 lbs.
Now is another story.... I probably should lay off the Chocolate a little....
I am starting to finally lose some weight 8)

Oh, it better be good chocolate.... That will be around the time of the month when I NEED chocolate
im a chocoholic as well, which is why im making a chocolate eclair cake "for my boyfriend."
My father was in the candy business. I can remember visiting my grandmother in Chicago and being taken to a candy convention. I must have been about 4 years old....going from booth to booth, sampling the wares and commenting on quality of the candy. Yes, even at 4 one knows "snap, tongue, taste." Imagine, a 4 year old chocolate snob.

(does it snap when broken, how does it sit on the tongue--creamy, smooth, melts properly, etc; and of course taste and other secondary flavorings or is it waxy?)

Too bad I'm not as discriminating today, LOL

Bwhahahahahah!!!!!!

you guys are killing me over here!

I'm definitely hoping for the high quality chocolate- I love those godiva chocolate covered raspberries... It's like heaven in a magenta colored wrapper! If I don't get any, I think I'm gonna have to go and buy some myself!

Sounds like someone is having a chocolate craving
I don't really care if V-Day is a Hallmark holiday. I think it's nice to have a day specifically set aside so that one can take the time to remember how much they love someone. I know it can get totally out of control with the commercialization, but I like the day, and always have! so there! But I never have liked getting chocolates because I am always conscious of what I eat and I don't need to be given more temptation!

yeah, why bother with anniversaries..... :-)
see...I said REMEMBER!! If commercials advertised when my anniversary was coming up I'd be in better shape...at least with V-Day there's a heads up for my husband that something special is coming up...he has trouble remembering days...

lol, I'm just not a big holiday person. Christmas and my kiddos birthdays are just about the only ones I really get into...mostly because it's the ones they enjoy most. I used to love Easter, but my daughter passed away on Easter weekend, so it brings up some painful memories now. If it weren't for the boys, I'd skip over that one completely - church and all.

I'm not a chocolate fan, if my husband bought me flowers, I'd fuss at him for wasting money, lol, so it's just not that big of a deal to me/us. He shows me in little ways that he loves me every day, so that's enough for me. Another reason is that I feel really guilty whenever he spends money on me (for things other than necessities anyway) since I'm not working. I don't like the fact that I'm not helping out financially, but I also don't want to give up staying home with the boys. That right there is my gift - we scrape pennies, cut back a lot, but it's something he's giving me that I'll treasure forever. My mom says I sound like a 90 year old instead of a 26 year old, because I just had this conversation with her the other night and she fussed on me! :)
I wanted to buy a fortune cookie (advertised as the size of a football), but I just couldn't think of a personalized fortune to put inside.

Hopefully Mr. J gets me some chocolate. We both probably eat about a handful of it every day (Bad us!!), but it seems like we can never get enough. We keep a stash in the middle of the living room and go through several bags ever 2 weeks.
Who's having the choclate craving? Compared with Jo, I'm practically abstaining!!!! that is a ton of chocolate. Don't feel bad though Jo- my mom CRAVED oranges when she was pregnant and nursing- she probably funded SEVERAL citurs farms for the year with her orange consumption!!!

I love Valentine's day! I'm a hopeless romantic, and the more sappy the happier I am! Give me the roses and chocolate and candelight dinner with pink champagne, and I'm in seventh heaven! :clappurple:

Karen :)
Hmmmmm, I forgot all about Valentines day til I saw this!!!! Maybe I'll just stay home and show Doug my gall bladder scar
EVIL!

that's just wrong.....
ahh, ginny, glad to see the romance is still alive after all these years...

It's all about the ROMANCE!!!!!!!!
Yep and I am not Telling, he he he 8)
I would like to have chocolate, and candles, and music, and well, I'd
like to have it all. But I have the love of my life, and to be in love
and have my children and to all be healthy, Thats really having it all.
And we'll celebrate V-day too! I am so lucky.
