Hello!

After a lot of research, many phone calls and emails, I picked up Watson this morning:

Now to figure out how to stop him eating the cat food...

Welcome! Please tell us more!
I love Watson!!! He looks so soulful!
welcome and thats is a cute boy you got there, hello Winston!!!!
Welcome Watson! :)

As to the cat food, move it. LOL You'll never get him to stop eating it unless he can't get at it.
Put the cat food on top of the refrigerator. That way the sheepie will get his exercise.

HA! hahahahh
Watson could do with the exercise - His previous owners didn't give him quite as much as he needs, so a good 1.5 mile walk tires him out: http://smharr4.dnsalias.net/dogs/watson/02-08-06_0736.jpg

He really wants to get to know our two cats, but they just want to stay their distance. Whenever he wants to get close to check them out, they hiss and start running away. Of course, Watson follows, and neither cat is happy having a dog 10 times the size of them (Watson is 80 pounds, Hugo and May are both around 8-9 pounds) running after them.
Congratulations on adopting Watson, Steven! How old is he? He's SO cute! Is that one brown and one blue eye I detect??

Also, welcome to the forum! If you haven't been on here for very long, be prepared - it's HIGHLY addictive!!

Can't wait for more pics and stories on Watson!!

Chris
Welcome to the forum Watson!

Give your mommy a wet sheepie kiss to thank her for rescuing you, and tell her to post more stories and pictures!
Welcome to the forum, Steven & Watson! I like his name! Did you name him or did he come with?

He's got a really sweet face and I think I do see a blue eye there -right?
Welcome Steven and Watson, Is he named after Sherlock Holmes "Dr. Watson" cool name :D

Can't wait to hear more about him.
Greetings from Australia. :D
Well, it's been 24 hours with Watson... he's spent a lot of time sleeping, perhaps because he's missing his old owners and feeling a little depressed, and because we've been for three 1.5 mile walks around the neighbourhood since he arrived. I'm trying to get him used to exercise again, but I don't want to overdo it in the first few days. We're going to try him at an off-leash dog park in Poulsbo this weekend to see how he does with balls and frisbees.

He's a 7 (8 in April) year old pure-bred OES originally from Loehr's in Anaconda, MT. His eyes aren't blue, they're both yellow/gold in colour. According to his previous owners, he's AKC registered as "Just Watson", so he's always had that name, but never been shown.

He's very much a velcro dog. His dog bed is in front of the fireplace with his Nylabone and toys on it, and he's lying on the carpet directly behind me (I work from home). Whenever I'm up and around the house, he's right behind me, and I've almost tripped up over him on occasion. We even went for a walk around the house off-leash without him bolting.

I think we've persuaded him to not eat the cat food, although how to stop the kitchen from being flooded with water whenever he drinks will be tricky. If only I could persuade the cats to get along with him instead of bolting, growling or hissing whenever he comes near them.

Great pics!

Love the leather.

Please consider uplaoding them to the oes.org gallery -- you'll be able to display them inline with your posts, and they'll always be available when the forum is available, too!
Congratulations on your new sheepie. Watson is very handsome.
Ahhhhhh, he is a handsome one!!! Welcome! :P
Such a cutie putie.
 Welcome to the forum Watson!
Welcome, Steve & Watson!

I've also got an 8 year old Loehr's dog, but born in January '98. Don't think our pair are related, though.

I don't think they are littermates - both the previous owners and the AKC website gave me a whelp date of April 1998 for Watson. It would be great to find a brother or sister of Watson and get them together though, like a canine family reunion!
No, definitely not littermates!

I've met some of the other Loehr puppers, though, when Janet was on her way to a show in Wisconsin. I think one of them was Loehr's Cookie Cutter, born April 11, 1998.

Mine is Loehr's Good Deal Lucille (aka Lulu)... we got her three years ago when she "retired." We also added a second sheepie a year ago, Chloe, who just turned two.

April 11th, 1998 was the whelping date that Watson has according to the AKC. Sounds like he has a champion sister as well as nephews and nieces!
Hi,

Welcome to you and Watson! Viewed his photos and thought the same as the others...handsome boy!! Can't wait to hear of his upcoming adventures and of his outcome at ball retrieving. It's good to have you join us and please feel free to share stories and post lots of photos!
