Licking the floor

Do any of you have sheepies that enjoy licking the floor? My parents have this sheepie that likes to do this.

The floor, the couch, the coffee table, me-- whatever!
Not the sheepies, but Glacier Pyr does help keep the kitchen floor clean......in her own way. I just wish she'd lick up the water the sheepies spread with their wet beards.
Ha! Licks the floor, the couch, the tables, our pants, our hands......whatever tastes or smells good!
Pepsi licks clothing. Seems to have a fetish for cotton :cow:
Hi,

Dogs have a sense of smell a thousand times better than humans> Makes me think they are licking up all those wonderful things that were once dropped onto the kitchen floor. Sure the "things"aren't there any longer but the smell may remain, even if the floor has been washed. Merlin loves to lick the floor just under the stove and next to the fridge. Makes me think I should pull out the fridge and stove sometime to see what lies beneath! :D

Barkley licks the floor whenever I'm giving him a real good belly scratch. He'll open his mouth wide and try and nibble it and then just ends up licking it.
Yes, The Gooch licks the floor and licks and licks it...almost in a trance! 8O

His sense of smell is incredible...better than Murphy's...I guess when one of your senses is gone...the rest step up a notch! :D
yep, Barney licks the floor...wish there was some sort of cleaner you could put on their tongue so he could actually be cleaning it--not just spreading doggie saliva!
Barney!!!! That was hilarious! If I wasn't so ethical I'd steal that line and use it sometime!!

Marianne and the boys
Ha ha ha. Go ahead, Marianne, I give you my express written consent to use it! 8)
both my previous OES and my current one had a facination with licking the carpet for no apparent reason to me. I guess it could be one of those sheepie traits

Maybe it's a mystical exprerience they're after.... Sofa will lick something for hours if we let her.

lmao
My OES will also lick in one spot whether it be floor or blanket or carpet forever. She also does not appreciate it if I try to stop the behaviour. If I place my hand over the wet spot she will either lick around my hand or lick my hand.

I did some research online and found that the general concensus was that dogs do this as a result of bordom. This makes sense as Sheepdogs are super active dogs and like a lot of attention and activity. I find that if I catch her licking incessantly, I'll distract her attention with an activity she stops. Our new game, which I read in last year's Dog's Annual, is "Find It!" I'll toss a treat out of her eyesite and when she hears it hit the ground I say "Find It!" and she's after it like a bolt! It helps her cognitive thinking and her sense of smell.
Hee hee...

I just get bothered when it's my pants or something when we are watching TV... 8O I have discovered that I (without realizing) wipe my hands on my pants when I'm eating chips!

The Gooch is trying to teach me manners....that is a scary thought! 8O
oh yes, mine enjoy licking many a things. Daphne especially likes the coffee table and walls :? ! Floors included !
