First Day of "School"

Today was Lucy and Clyde's first day of doggie day care. Since it's been so wet and nasty around here lately, I thought it would be a fun day for them and they'd get lots of exercise. Well, as soon as they went into the common area with the rest of the dogs, Lucy fit right in. She found a buddy and ran outside. Clyde, on the other hand, as soon as he realized we were leaving, went nuts. He jumped up against the gate that separated us and started howling and crying. It was the saddest thing and now I know how my mom felt on that first day of school for us kids! My heart was breaking and I didn't want to leave him. The day care is going to e-mail me some pictures later so I hope he'll be ok.

Yay Lucy!! :)

Poor Clyde...lol....
Awww....poor Clyde! :( Hopefully, he has made friends and is playing & having lots of fun today! :D

Sweet Lucy - she loves everybody! :D
Poor Clyde. :(

I am sure he will adjust. At least you know he loves you so much that he is very upset when you leave. We started Izzie at doggie day care today also...but I did a trial day earlier this week where I stayed for a bit until she was playing with the other dogs. Then I only left her for a few hours.

Aw...Clyde probably started to play once he realized you left.
Poor Clyde! He loves you so much. But I'm sure he's having a good time once he got used to it.
Poor baby Clyde...just like your average younger sibling...the older one wants to go off and make new friends but the younger one doesnt...I bet by the end of the day, he'll tell you that he had a great time and hopefully made something for you for your fridge...and not out of macaroni. 8O
Aww, wouldn't that be the cutest if they made me little macaroni pictures?

I just got an e-mail from the day care owner telling me what great dogs they are and that they're both doing great. Just ike at home, Lucy just went to hang out outside on the patio and watch the other dogs. Apparently Clyde thinks he's the boss of all the other dogs there, which is pretty funny. I'm glad he found his place. :)
That's so nice! I would love to have a place like that to take my babies. So glad they're both enjoying it now. :D
I can just picture Clyde up against the divider, cup in paw, running it back and forth, yelling "NOOOOOOO".

Attica, Attica, Attica!!!! You'll be lucky if he doesn't lead the other dogs in an uprising. He is the evil genius type!
I've always wanted to try that with Yuki, but with a small dog at home ...I'm afraid she will come back wanting to play a little rough. They are very popular here due to the weather.
aww poor clyde. thats exactly what walter did when i took him with me to work, except he would climb the fences.

we had lots of dogs that would cry and not want to come in the daycare, but as soon as their parents left they would have the time of their lives, so im sure clyde and lucy are having a great time!

That's so funny that you said, Mandy because James and I were just talking about how when Clyde was a puppy, he'd sit on his butt in his crate and run his paw baack and forth on the bars to make noise when he wanted out-- just like a little prisoner!
So did you get your macaroni picture or macaroni necklace?

How did the day end for Clyde and Lucy? Inquiring mind want to know!!!

Poor Clyde I could actually visualize him bawling like a baby at the site of you leaving. Give that boy an two belly rubs from me and two to Lucy for being a "big girl".

They both did great! It was really funny when we went to pick them up. There were about 10 dogs left and they came racing towards the front with Clyde leading the pack, all excited. It's a really big warehouse and they have couches set up all over the place and the owner said, look at that couch all the way in the back corner. There's Lucy curled up on the couch, fast asleep-- she didn't even notice us!

I've never seen Clyde so tired. The owner said that he didn't stop playing the whole day. He fell asleep in the back of the jeep with his head on James's backpack like a pillow. As soon as we got home, he made a beeline for the couch and picked up his nap right where he left off. He fell asleep like a little person on his side, using a pillow. Lucy fell asleep after she came in from outside but instead of heading to her usual spot, she made it about 4 steps from the door and crashed! It was the quietest night we've had in over a year!
I love it! :D
Awesome! It's good to know they had a good time so you can take them back.

We LOVE doggy day care days. Barney is so worn out that we don't hear a peep from him all night either. He'll come home, eat, go out, then lie down and sleep hard.
Awe, see nothing to worry about. Just really tired pups.
So glad it worked out so well, Jill! :clappurple: I can just picture Clyde leading everyone around - what a clown!
Chris
It was funny because when we first brought him in the owner looked at him then the other dogs and said "Um, is he really that big? He makes the other ones look like puppies" I assured her most of it was fur but Clyde probably took that as a cue that he was a big tough guy.
 Sounds like fun! Glad they both ended up having a great time! They should do paw prints on paper for the parents!
