Melbournes Animal Expo

Well we are off on saturday to Melbournes Animal Expo, manning a breed stand for the afternoon from 1.30 till 5.30. Wasn't going to do it this year as have put the hand up every other year so thought a few others would do it. But alas, no takers, got a call late last night to ask Please Please so said OK. Thank goodness the dogs are up to date with grooming and bathing. 8O

I usually take Kelsey but this year thought brie this time as she has not been before. Big crowds with lots of people all over the dogs on the breed exhibition stand. Soooooo we will see how she goes, WISH US LUCK!!!! I am hoping those paws that strike out to tap people with a "EH IT's ME!!!! "will be under control and that she does not decapitate any kiddies heads while sitting on her table at the expo LOL

Really annoys me that people involved in a breed club rarely put their hands up for anything, yet they expect the club to do for them. It is an important part of helping to promote and educate the public on the breed, a chance for one on one chats to people interested in the breed and to also let people know the responsibilities of owning a large hairy dog and what is required and involved with owning an OES, I do enjoy it enormously but thought that others might get involved this year but the usual answer was, too busy or no, so hence I am there again this year.

Will post some pictures of the day when we get home, and again wish us luck that brie can keep those big wacking paws under control LOL. :D

Sounds like fun actually! I hope all went well today and Brie didn't scratch too many people! :D They are so silly with their big loppies (paws). If I didn't wear glasses all the time, I'd probably have my eye balls scratched by now from Annie !
I wish I could go. Sounds like fun and Brie will behave herself.

In any group or club, there are a few members who do all the work. The others sit back and reap the benefits. It's not fair but if you don't do it, nobody will!
Wish you and furbaby lots of luck!! Can't wait to see the pictures. Definitely wish we could all be there.
Hi Lisa,

You know long ago I once heard someone saying: You don't ask the people that never do anything as they always say no...you ask the busy ones as they're the ones always willing to step up.

Sounds as if you're a good hearted person and it's a shame others wouldn't follow suit. I hope you have a good time at the Pet Fair and that Brie is especially good on that day. Best Wishes to you!

Marianne and the boys
Sounds exciting!!! Best of luck for a well behaved pupper!!!!!
Have fun today Lisa :D

I know what you mean about people volunteering, I have the same problem with the soccer association, it's the same people doing the work every year

Looking forward to the pics

This is me and my best friend Bridie, we both look so cute today & busy with our fans.

It's been a long hard day just being patted by lots and lots of people, notice the big stuffed sheepie in the background, he is a dulux dog, I wiggled my bottom, nibbled his ear and licked his face, I am in love as he is the "big, strong & silent type".
Am asleep as it is just so hard being a glamour girl & having all this attention ZZZZ.

All in all a busy but fun day, lot's of hugs and pats from all these people I don't know and I was a good girl, no headless kiddies walking around, I think I did a pretty good job keeping my paws under control & my mommy is very proud of me.
Wow Lisa your dog is beautiful. It looks like you spend hours grooming her. She is very very pretty and so well trained to be sitting there for hours without beheading a few kids. I wish I could say my guys could do that.
Alright Brie! Good job bringing in the crowds. Toby said to tell you that it's okay to whack people with your paw, it gets their attention and they pet you more. He did this all day at the Philly show. I think that he thought as long as we're benched and have to be here... Everytime someone was standing close and not paying attention or not actually petting him he swiped or pawed at them. We'll send Brie and Toby out as the welcome wagon for newbies!
OMG Lisa, you really really must come to Phx to show me how to groom. Dont let Panda hear this, but, your girls are just stunning...and the paw whacking...hahaha...they know how to get your attention, every time!
Way to go Brie! Tough job being a glamour girl, but you do it so well! You made Mommy proud today! :D
Lisa,
Sounds like Brie enjoyed her day of endless attention. She looks absolutely gorgeous.
Yes brie did enjoy the day for her first time in such a different enviroment.
When we arrived she was sooo over excited with the crowds and talking and hollowing to me as I wheeled her & the gear to the stand. Tooks us forever to make our way up as everyone wanted to pat and fuss over her.
It really is a daunting day for them as all these strangers hanging all over them. Always amazes me the people that let toddlers and young kids just run up to the dogs without asking is it alright to pat etc. Bad luck if a dog is a bit nervey and decides to bite. Made sure to tell parents to be responsible with their children and ask the owner if it is OK to approach the dog. Even had some nut keep asking me "How much for the Dog" you meet all types don't you, like I would sell her!!! 8O
Every breed was represented at the expo and only got those four photos when things quietened down a bit, the stand was packed with people wanting to pat the dogs. She was so good and settled well into all the attention. When she tried to have a snooze people kept coming and walking past and patting her on the head so had to put my chair in front of her and sit there so she could have a rest. At least she passed with flying colours for her first time, so different from a dog show to something like this. She spent yesterday snoozing all day which is most different usually she is full of energy ready for a walk in the morning and a busy bee all day, but a quiet lil girl she was for a change.
Glad I did it as it really was a good experience for her :D
:clappurple:  Yea, Brie!!! You look beautiful!
oh my gosh can't add to every ones posts , just great, loved all the pics. you must be so proud!!!!!
