Panda is sad :O(
The vet technicians and assistants said when he awoke, they patted him and he was the sweetest boy , lifting his paw up in the air as if saying "umm excuse me....I need some attention". His behavior was unlike the previous times when he's been sedated. He appears unsure of himself and almost insecure. The good news was the nasty ear infection he had previously is defiantely gone ( I had lab test done on both ears just to make sure as the infection kept reoccuring several times), his teeth are excellent, his health good, the texture of his coat has greatly improved too and unbelievably he's a bit on the hefty side and can lose a few pounds. I'm glad I had him shaved down as with his bad hips he needs to stay on the lean side and I hadn't noticed with his shaggy coat. Still last night I was up until 4 am with him as he couldn't settle but would whine...race around the house....as if searching for something..settle back down for a few mins..then start all over again. I ended up sitting with his head on my lap and that finally did the trick as he fell asleep but I was stuck in the sitting postion all night. Ahhh as I was writing this post ..the phone rang and it was my vet so I had a chance to discuss his behavior. She agreed with me it's probably more emotionally for him. I just give my boy lots of extra TLC. Marianne and the boys I stayed home from work today to make sure my boy was okay as unlike the other times he also vomited once. I'm staying home tomorrow too as I think what he's experiencing isn't medical but emotional. Perhaps he's feeling insecure and the loss of his hair makes him appear so much smaller and more vulnerable? Not sure but I suspect that's why he's behaving the way he is. |

Poor little guy!  Maybe he just had a different reaction to the sedation this time. How caring of you to stay home and comfort him for a few days! I'm sure he'll be back to his old self in no time.

I think he's faking it! It's like Ferris Bueller's Day Off only it backfired and you stayed home. Watch him closely he might have some wild plans up his sleeve.

| Thanks everyone for Panda's well wishes. Maybe he's peeved at me and is milking the sympathy angle? Whatever it is, he's really vying for my constant attention with his sad puppy dog eyes. I'm give him lots of belly rubs and pats.

| Chris is probably right.. maybe he is just reacting differently to the sedative this time. Hopefully, he will be back to he "self" in no time.

Thanks for asking. Panda still seemed the same the following day but not as whiny. I definately think he's feeling vulnerable due to the loss of his hair..he's curled up like he did when he first arrived. Tight ball instead up on his back and belly up as he eventually slept when he felt more secure. Today (Friday) three days after he seems like his ole self again but a bit subdued. He wants Panda girl to know he'd feel better if she was his nurse. :O) Does she have a nurse's outfit? Marianne and the boys |
