I'm in trouble

when I was at Petsmart today (their adoption day), one of the people told me that another rescue service in the area had a dog that looked a lot (just like) my Daisy. They weren't sure of any details about the dog (I don't even know if it is a male or female) but said that group would be there tomorrow. I tried to find out about the dog on their web site but couldn't find a dog that fit that description.
By the description they gave, it might even be a littermate of hers and I wouldn't be able to say no, especially after all your posts about having more than one sheepie. I'll be going back tomorrow to talk with them and hopefully they will bring this dog with them.
However, there is a trainer at Petsmart that has fallen in love with Daisy and is now looking for a dog like her (was looking for a lab before), so she might take it!
AM I TOTALLY NUTS????

You are NOT nuts...this is what happens! I will try not to encourage you either way...BUT...maybe you should ask Daisy what she thinks!?

I'm looking forward to hearing all about your second trip to petsmart!!!
you know what they say.... they're like potato chips... can't just stop at one!
I thought I was completely nuts when I was contemplating getting Maggie, and maybe I am. But she is a doll and I'm so glad to have her as part of my household. Two is suprisingly manageable. . . On the other hand, if the dog will have a good home, there is no reason to complicate your life unneccessarily. . .
They certainly are addictive.
I can't wait to hear all about it.
If the trainer is there and wants the dog, I would definitely let her get it if she wanted to. Need to spread the joy of having one of these beautiful animals. If not, I would have a hard time not bringing it home (assuming DAisy agreed but we haven't met a dog (an very few people) she doesn't like). The cat may be another story but he doesn't like to go for rides and would hate to be taken to the store, so he doesn't get a vote.
Can't wait to hear what happens! Staying tuned... :D
Very interesting! I think you have a good game plan though. If you are comfortable and Daisy is good to go then you might as well go ahead and do it. If your trainer is there, no need to get greedy. Everybody needs a little sheepdog in their lives. You'll also be able to trade her for info; you give her sheepdog advice and she gives you free training tips!
As for the cat, who gave them the power to vote anyway?

So true... I just love watching our two Sheepies :D
Hi,

Funny, how all of us on here that don't breed just started off with one. Due to this forum and hearing about so many sheepies that needed homes the majority of us ended up with two or more.

Good advice regarding asking Daisy as most shelters recommend you bring your existing dog with you if you are thinking of bringing home another. Good luck whatever your and Daisy's decision is. Verve Up is right..Just like Lays Potato Chips..you can't stop at one.

Good luck to you and can't wait to hear what happens.

Welcome to addiction (sheepiemania) you just can't stop at one. 8O
Well, I just got back from PetSmart. The minute the rescue person saw Daisy she came over to me (we had had to stop to look at some puppies) to ask if she was an OES. I said yes and asked if she was the one that had the rescue sheepie. She is but didn't bring her (it is a girl) today as she is waiting to be vet checked/ spayed this week. Both she and her husband (?) both said the dog they had looked exactly like Daisy/ tail and all. They were guessing she was about a yr old but not sure and said it looked like she had had a litter recently. They had taken her in from the Animal Rescue (she was going to be put down) and said she had the sweetest disposition.
I told them I was definitely interested (and that the trainer probably would be as well) and they are going to e-mail me photos of her. She is apprarently in full coat and isn't matted. I can't wait to see the pics and will definitely be talking with them again when they aren't quite so busy - it's a zoo at PetSmart on weekend afternoons when the rescue people come in.
Daisy just fell in love with the puppies - Boston Terrier/ Chow mix about 5 wks old. She would have brought all 8 of them home, especially the one brown one. She just laid down outside the pen with her nose pressed up against it so she could get as close to them as possible. I told her we had to wait to see about her twin.

So cute! Sounds like she might enjoy her twin!
here's a picture of the dog at the rescue and she sure does look like Daisy. I plan to go see her on Sat rather than wait for them to bring her to PetSmart on Sun so that I can see the 2 dogs together and let them spend some time together before I make any commitments.

Wow what a cutie!
How cute! They sure have a lot of similarities. Hope all goes well together
It would be really funny to see those two sheepies looking at eachother wondering where the mirror is.
see the "mopsy" topic for more pictures. I tried to get pictures of the 2 of them but they wouldn't cooperate. She's not a twin and although from the fur on the rear (which is badly matted) there appears to be sheepie, I think she is at the very least a mix with something smaller. She is a very sweet dog but unfortunately (for her) I have to put everything on hold while I go to a job interview in Nashville area next week and will be gone for a couple of days. Daisy will travel with me but couldn't imagine taking a new dog I did not know and am not sure she is housebroken.
