good news

well good and bad news. while the fracture is pretty bad, it turns out that i can start using my elbow pretty much normally now. basically, the doc said to do as much as i feel comfortable with. I can ditch the sling--yay!however, he grounded me from snowboarding or any other activity that could involve falling on it for 4 weeks until i go back to see him again.

i tried to convince him that it wasn't broken at all so he took another x ray to show me a better view. picture a dog bone with the knots on either end. make a line right below where the knot starts across the bone and that's where I'm broken. he said if i would've fallen harder, with the placement of the break, it would've popped the head of my elbow right off, requiring surgery, rehab and all that crap. crazy, huh?

so, since i can type again, i can go back to my long, drawn out posts. sorry to disappoint all of you who hoped i'd be out of commission for much longer!

YEAH Jill!!! When you start moving it dont forget to rotate it...best way to do it is place your elbow on the arm of your sofa...bend slowly up and down and while down rotate your wrist left and right as far as possible..even if it hurts...if you dont do the side to side you might lose radius turning...and elbows wont match....you know how i am about symmetry......lol
yeah, that's what he said too. the rotating is the worst part right now!
Good to see you ! Glad you can ditch the sling.
Type away, kid we enjoy your posts!
Very lucky you do not need surgery etc.

Just be careful walking outside on snow or ice.
Ice storms equal turf to ER for orthopedics-when I was
on ER rotation, smashed elbows and broken arms were the
popular injury on stormy days.

So,no ice skating and triple jumps..........for now.

We need to make note to get you a seatbelt halter for
that snowboard
ironically, i took a serious spill on the ice in front of my building 2 days before. no activity is safe!
Jill,
Glad to hear you can use your arm :D :D
Just don't over do it!
Jill,

So glad to hear you can ditch the sling~! Hope the healing process goes quickly for you... but with no sling, how are you going to steal puppies from now on???
Good news... but don't overdo it! :)

Winter just does not agree with you, maybe a one way ticket to
Hawaii is indicated. You won't have to worry about snow and ice 8)
Glad to hear you're better than you thought. But don't let that lull you into complacency. It still has to heal. Don't overdo!!
Chris
Great news for you, and as everyone has said "Don't over do it"!!
Hi!

Well glad you'll be back at your long post ..ha! I for one will be looking forward to it! Take care of yourself!

Marianne and the boys
Good news!

You should be back to elbowing out the other shoppers at Filene's Basement in no time!
Glad to hear you're on the mend, Jill! :D
Glad to hear you are doing better!!!! :D
Glad it's not so bad! Maybe you should consider something a little more sedentary like ummm...the Iditarod :D
Jill, Glad to hear you can use you arm, sorry to hear the Olympics will have to wait til next time around  BUT look on the bright side, if if Kristie "Ice Skater Girl What's Her Name Can't spell It" can wait four years for the Olympics SO CAN YOU!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA But seriously, I hope you aren't in too much pain and DOOOOOOO be careful on the ice, it can be NASTY.
Well, Clyde and I were playing a little too rough yesterday and he came down full force on the crook of my arm. I think that set me back about a week in healing! I'm in a lot of pain today and the sling's back on. To make matters worse, I caught James's flu/cold.

I think from here on out, I'm going to take the entire month of January off. It seems to be my bad luck month! Last year I had pneumonia. :(
Poor Jill!! :(

Bless your heart! You need a keeper! :D (That's what my mom would say if it were me...LOL) :D
