Anybody got a roomba?

I was looking at them and the reviews from people with pets say they work great, take away a lot of housework so you can do more stuff. They say you still have to vaccum from time to time, but that's better than twice a day.

Anybody got any experiences (or advise) you'd like to share? It would be cool to have one at home!

have you seen the scooba? i want that!
That thing is awesome!

I want one too! (Isn't it amazing how you just can't live without things you didn't even know they existed?)
I want a scooba too, we don't have much carpet, so the roomba wouldn't make as much sense for me. Those things look amazing!
That Scooba looks very cool, a bit pricey, when I think how it only takes me like 10 minutes to mop. As for vacuums, I just ordered a Dyson on e-bay. I can't wait to get it!
James belongs to another online forum where the same question came up and someone described the effectiveness of it in the most hilarious way that I wish I could recount exactly here. In a nutshell, they said that all it really did was wind up smashing most of the dirt down and pushing clumps of dog hair in corners. Also, the dirt cup is really small. Considering I go through a vacuum bag about evry 5th time I vacuum since there's so much hair around, I imagine the Roomba would get filled up after running over about 10 feet!
I think Josh has a Roomba....
I had a Roomba, but a little antibiotic cream got rid of it
my mom's friend has one. she hates it and feels it doesn't do a good job at all. misses a lot.

i imagine if you had a dog that had a lot of dust bunnies (her dog is a small poodle that doesn't obviously shed more than a few hairs) ...it could "help out." :) my mom's friend is also korean and very anal about her cleaning.

Yes, we have a Roomba. It's great except for when it gets stuck when no one is home, or knocks over a picture (which should not have been on the floor in the first place...user error)

It really does work great. You just have to make sure there is nothing on the floor for it to eat, push or get stuck on. Mine likes to vaccum the area rug in our living room, then back into a leg of the coffee table and get stuck.

Pics of it in action are coming.....
I never heard of the roomba. I have a question though. I thought of getting and Oreck.I currently have a bagless hoover windtunnel which works fine but I have to empty it everytime I use it. I take it outside and take the filter out and use an old dogbrush to loosen the dust of the filter or its clogged. Not very good when you have dust allergy. I saw on t.v. the oreck is supposed to clean the air and the dust is contained in the bags but I'm afraid I'd be using a bag a day. I really want a Dyson but I can't afford it right now.I'd probably still have the same problem with emptying that though as I do my bagless. If anyone has an Oreck what do you think of it?
I know nothing of the Oreck, but I did get my refurbished Dyson, with a 6 month manufacturer's warranty for $250 on ebay. No way I could afford a new one and this was less than half the asking price as a new one.
The model I got has a 1 gallon capacity for the dirt, fur etc...
I can't wait to get it and use it :D :D
Wow I didn't know they had a gallon capacity. You did get a good deal on it. Refubished is good as new as far as I'm concerned if it comes with a six month warranty. I love your Garfield quote. I can never get up right away in the morning. I always set the snooze and I'm a grumpy morning person till I have my coffee alone.Don't like to talk until I've had my quota of coffee. :)

I have never been a morning person.... I am like Garfield, I hate mornings  Before I had kids I would sleep in on the weekends until 11:30 - 12:00om  Ah the good life... Only 17 more years to go until the kids are gone... and I can sleep again
I'm afraid all my dust bunnies would gang up and destroy a roomba. Anyway each room is a different type flooring, roomba would get confused.
Well I have a friend who is in a wheelchair and he had a Roomba,he didnt really like it due too it would get stuck under the bed,on furniture, and it really didnt have the power he'd like it too have, but maybe IF you run it alot its better??I know he had too put stuff like laundry baskets around so the Roomba would bounce off it too keep it in use.
I have an Oreck the 2speed one and I love mine.

THE ORECK IS TERRIBLE!!!! I hate mine, the belt breaks everytime I use it, the bags are $20 for 3, and it barely picks up dog hair
WOW!!I havent had any issues w/ my Oreck,it goes atleast 2times a day and between the collie hair, the 2long hair cats, and the BF's drywall tracking in the house I havent broken any belts,I have had it for about 1.5yrs now.I take it in every yr for a tune up,and change the bag reguarly. As far as bags you can find fake oreck bags alot cheaper.Guess like anything else some have good luck w/ it and some dont.
