tomorrow is the big day!

we pick our little cooper up tomorrow *maybe not so little she siad he was around 75 lbs*
We are leaving around 4, it takes 9 hours but with both kids may take us closer to 10-10.5, we will spend the night, get some rest, and pick him up bright and early, I am BEYOND nervous and excited!
any tips for the way home? they say he LOVES the car, but 10 hours is LONG. when we stop to eat, what should we do? I thought just drive through so he is not alone in our car, but the kids will NEED to stretch their legs. Also at some point w ewill need to feed him, how should we do that, just pull over let him eat/drink,then 30 minutes alter pull over to elt him potty?
How often should we let him out to potty?
we are really pushing to drive the whole way home in one day,so we can spend sunday at home together get to know each other
I probably sound crazy asking so many questions, but I am SO excited/nervous.
If all goes well and we get home saturday, I'll take pictures sunday and post them!
thanks everyone!

Well, we used to stop every 2 hours or so to let everyone stretch their legs.

Feeding might be an issue and if you don't want a sick sheepie on your hands, I'd suggest (just to be on the safe side) feeding when you get home. A small snack a couple of hours before the trip, perhaps.

What about seating arrangements? Winston was a very car-friendly dog: when you took him anywhere, he just laid down and went to sleep just a minute or two into the trip. However, when he was in back with others, he nipped at one. As Winston also nipped for the first time ever (and the second time ever) The two days before, I don't know if this is a common thing, or was just related to what Winston was going through. Just yet another issue to fret about.

BTW, why is the breeder giving up Cooper at the age of 13 months? Were they hoping to show her, but he's not "show quality"?

Nosy, ain't I?

I'm so excited for you... please keep us closely informed! :)
yes, he wa sgoing to be a show dog. they kepot him, brother and sister. They decided his neck was a little short, and only needed one from the same bloodline so they kept brother.
The breeder said he is crate trained, but loves to ride in a seat while driving. she said he just likes to put his head on your lap and sleep, so we will probably do that. He'll be up front, kids in back, that way their noise won't make him to nervous.
I will deffinitley keep you all informed!
As an OES rescue foster mom, heres a tip -- before you leave the breeder's house -- put his name and your name and phone number on his collar. Cover it well with clear tape. Make sure he can't slip his head out of the new collar...

Heaven forbid he would slip away from you on your way home...

Enjoy your new dog!
