Week 3 has been very tough

The old saying is the hardest times are Day 3, Week 3 and Month 3. I'm in the middle of week 3 which I'll call Hell Week. I have been jonesing since Thursday. Last night I actually GOT IN THE CAR TO GET CIGARETTES. Fortunately I kept making turns that took me away from any place I could buy cigs. Saturday I drove home through a blizzard the long way so I wouldn't go past any place that sold cigs.

I swear if I make it through this week (which ends for me FRIDAY) without smoking it will be all downhill.

'Atta girl, Paula! It shows you truly want to quit by the steps you're taking to avoid places that sell cigs. Keep up the great work! Friday's only 4 days away!

Just think about how cold it is and how much nicer it is inside. Why leave that comfort to go out anywhere?!
This is what I did when it got bad for me - it may or may not help you
at all.

When the craving got really bad I would take in as much air as my lungs
could possibly hold, and when I thought I couldn't take in any more I
did three sharp intakes, which only amounted to a tiny volume, but it
really did help. I then held that air as long as I could, exhaled slowly
and as completely as possible. In the beginning I would start really
hacking at that point. After just a few weeks I realized that the air I was
able to take in was a much larger volume than before, and I wasn't
hacking and gagging afterward. Sort of like losing weight and seeing the
numbers on the scale drop, gaining more lung capacity and eventually
less coughing was a real incentive for me.

Look at it this way- are you really ready to throw away all the progress
you have made so far? Starting all over again? I know for some of us
there really is no "just one smoke won't hurt". For me at least, I would
easily be back to 2 packs a day in 24 hours.

You have come this far! You can do it.

I just passed the 3 month mark. Boy it seems like a lifetime ago! Hard
to believe!.
