I cannot find my Momoko

I've been going through so many emotions these past 24 hours. I cannot find my dog anywhere.

Yesterday I put Momo up for her nap around 12-12:30 PM, and went to go see my mother and father for lunch. I then had to clear up a graduation matter at my school after that. Then I went to go get some coffee. I was incredibly happy that it was finally cleared up that I AM going to graduate after all instead of being a victim of poor clerical work yet again. I only had one more test this Saturday - and I needed to study for it still.

I got home around 3:30 and Momo was not in her pen where I left her for her nap. My dad was home - thinking she was sleeping. I of course thought my dad had let her out in the house. So I went looking for her... she usually ALWAYS comes to me... and I looked... EVERYWHERE! I asked him if he had let her out - he said "no." I went outside and called for her... and I wondered if my brother had woken up and taken her somewhere (he's never done that!) I asked dad if my brother had her, he told me to call.

I called him - and then I hear this dawning awareness in his voice: Aimee, I'm sorry! I let her out... then I didn't let her back in.

I asked him when he let her out... and he said 1 PM... about half an hour after I left.

That leaves me with 2 1/2 hours of she-could-be-anywhere! I ran outside, calling for her... looking under the house... looking through the woods... I walked through wetlands, ditches with month old BLACK water... drove around calling her name... walking up and down the streets until it was too dark to see anymore. We talked to people who were walking around and showed her picture off. I even looked in the ditches because I thought I would see her there.

AND I AM SO MAD AT HIM AND SO SCARED FOR MY DOG!

I cannot believe that my brother just so completely forgot my Momoko! He let her out... OUTSIDE WITHOUT A LEASH where we have no gates and forgot about her for 2 1/2 hours... he spent his time forgetting about her when a girl he liked came over... forgot about her when he went out to fish... when he came back into the house past the empty DOG CAGE and then left again to go get our brother and something to EAT! I had to REMIND HIM EVEN REMEMBER HER TO BEGIN WITH!

There are so many horrible things that could happen to her... we live in one of the scummiest places in our town... I am just LIVID thinking about the horrible things that could have happened... and the FACT that it took him 2 1/2 HOURS TO REMEMBER!

On top of that - our neighbors are angry at us - they thought our dog's name was JoeJoe or something... and they STOPPED in front of our house and screamed it for a while today in our direction. I felt so ANGRY at them for making fun of us.

There are people who shoot at dogs around here... roads where people race down (really)... wetlands WITH GATORS... and lakes that she can drown in (I don't know if she can swim). I also believe there is a dog fight thing going on around here due to all the "dog fighting noises" and then the guns firing off and the multiple HUMAN voices that seem to be screaming happily afterwards. I am also not above thinking people might sell her...

I keep trying to kid myself and think that she is such a pain that no one would want to keep her... and pay me to take her back... but I know it isn't true. I know she is such a sweetie and house trained. I know that if anyone finds her... that they might want to keep her instead because she is so pretty.

I want to SCREAM! I'm just sick of crying and I want my doggy back. I keep thinking that if she just comes back I'll make her a chicken breast with apples on the side. I'll give her all the stupid yogurt drops she loves for desert and some real bacon strips.

I just want my baby to come home...

I can't believe how stupid this is... I can't believe he forgot about her for 2 1/2 hours. I wish I never left yesterday.

I've been thinking up a flyer (still need to find a suitable picture) and am planning on sticking it to every single one of my neighbors doors. I've been to the pound and gave them a little description.

How long do you wait for a dog to come home without seeing or knowing anything? When do you give up? I know it's only been 24 hours... but the day is dragging by so slowly I can't stand it. I don't know what to tell Momo's breeder if I don't find her... I don't know what to do.

I am so sorry about your dog. I have few things to say about your brother but we can't put it this site,. did you call your local shellter, or the pound, any place that could have picked your dog up. Did he have a collor on with tags. If you live in a small town call or visit the police and ask them to look out for him. Get those posters out fast. The longer you wait is not good. And MAKE your brother help search for him.Good luck , please let us know if you find him
Hi,

My heart is just breaking for you and how awful you must be feeling. Just keep faith and she may be returned to you. There is currently a thread in Dogs in Trouble regarding a sheepie boy named Summit whom is in the process of first being found and then returned 3 months after his dissapearance. Don't give up!

What a terrible set of emotions you must be feeling like a parent who's worried about their child not returning home. Momo is your baby and I hope will all my might that she finds her way home. Keep up posted and hugs to you.

Marianne and the boys
OH INTEGRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How terrible!!!!!!!!!! I am so sorry!!!!!!! Don't wait, get the flyers up right away, Someone might have MOMO now and not realize that you are looking for her. My heart just breaks for you. PLEASE keep us posted.
GInny
I am SO sad for you right now. Believe me when I say I totally 100% understand all the emotions you are going through.
I was in the same place you are with my first Old English Sheepdog, Trouble, other then she was 7 yrs old when she disappeared. I'd had her since she was an 11 week old pup, she was my baby.
She had a cable run that went from the end of our house, at the back door, to almost at the edge of the woods that bordered our house. I put her out about 11 PM and when I went back to bring her in 15 minutes later she was gone. I was heart broken and to this day still am and that was almost 17 years ago.
We put up fliers everywhere, we contacted the police dept because we felt as if she had to be stolen as Trouble was a velcro dog and where I went she went. If I walked over to a friends house, Trouble was with me and she would lay at the door until I was ready to leave no matter how many hours I was there, she just wouldn't leave me.
We contacted the radio stations and they graciously made announcements about her being lost. I drove to pounds all over, veterinary clinics, grooming shops and kennels in the hopes someone would bring her in to one of them.
I looked for years for my girl. Sadly we were never reunited.
And that's one of the reasons I waited so long to get another sheepie.
I truly hope this will not be the case for you. And that your girl will either return home on her own or some KIND person will take her in and help to reunite you guys.
I know your heart is breaking and I send big hugs and prayers for your girls safe return. Don't give up.
I will send your information on to friends I have in SC who work with the Humane Society out there and they can pass it around. That's if it's OK with you? You can PM me here with any pertinent info you want passed on and I will gladly forward it.

GOOD LUCK
Integra,

I'm sure you have already, but go over the places that you guys go for walks-- some dogs gravitate to familiar spots with their smell on them. Lucy used to be a terrible runner and the couple of times that she got loose, I found her (after going completely frntic) on our walking path in the back of the subdivision that we lived in.

Also, like someone else said, call the local pound or shelter. Even if she isn't there, someone may have found her and asked if someone was looking for her. Once, many years ago, we found a dog that was such a sweetheart, we just kept it and left our number at the shelter for the owner to call if he or she called inquiring (after a week, they did and she went home to her owners!).

Don't give up hope. She might come back on her own and be waiting on your doorstep-- you just never know. Good luck, I know what you must be going through right now.

Jill

P.S. Your brother should have his butt out there looking the hardest right now too. I couldn't live with myself if I were him knowing it was me that let her out!
I am SO sorry Momo is missing! Poor her and poor you!
It's terrifying to even think about, I can't imagine what you must be going through.
Keep searching!!
Let us know how it goes....
Can you PM me with your area, neighborhood etc? Perhaps we can get some help in searching for her by sending the info to the right people. Lots of rescue groups out there to contact, most of whom likely have contacts at least in your state.
My heart just aches for you.
Have faith, somebody is bound to have seen her.
I would also get a lost add inyour local paper too.
We are praying for you.
I'm so sorry! I can't imagine what you are going through. Contact anyone and everyone right away...don't wait. The sooner you get her picture and word out that she's missing, the better. Keep us posted.
Oh that is so awful, so sad for you, I hope all turns out well and get those flyers up and hopefully someone will spot her and return her.
Sending special prayers for her safe return :(
Intergra,

So sorry to hear the news that Momo is missing.
Please know that you are in our prayers that
Momo will return home to you soon.

What a heartbreak this is for you, please take
care of yourself during this stressful time.
We are here for you...

Please keep us updated...
Integra,
I am so sorry about Momo. I do know EXACTLY how you are feeling. We lost our Merlin almost 2 years ago in February. The groomer took him out to potty and she had shaved him (after I repeatedly told her NOT to shave him) and he slipped the collar. We posted flyers, we called all the dog pounds in the area, we even took out a full page newspaper ad. Also there was a vet's supply that for free...sent out flyers to every vet office in our province. To this day I still get calls from vet offices wanting to update their files and they want to know if Merlin is still missing.

Merlin was found by some kids 4 days later. Someone recognized him from the flyers we posted (how they knew that a shaved sheepdog looked like the full coated pic we had posted...we will never know)He had suffered severe frostbite and he also was probably hit by a car (not badly...just bruised)
Keep looking for Momo and dont give up. Post as many flyers as you can. If you can afford it...post a big ad in your local paper. Call all the vets nearby and then send them your flyer. We are all sending you white light that you find your Momo safe and sound.
Hugs
Oh, Aimee - what a heartbreaking thing to happen! As everyone has said, please get those fliers out there ASAP - even if they don't have a picture on it yet. Just say Old English Sheepdog, then you can make better fliers with a picture later. Call all the local vet offices, call the police, tell the police of the dog fighting sites you have seen/heard, maybe they can look there specifically for you.

Above all - don't give up hope! We're all praying that Momo is returned safely to you soon.

Chris
I'm so sorry your baby is missing. I noticed the quote at the bottom of your post: "Not all who wander are lost" Tolkien

I know there isn't much comfort in that at the time, but try to think of the good places she could be rather than the bad. Perhaps you could even call the local tv news stations and ask them if they could possibly show her picture, mention that she is lost and tell everyone how desperate you are to have her back. Its worth a phone call.

Try not to be too hard on your brother. I'm sure he's feeling enough guilt over his carelessness, and the pain he's caused you. We've all done some pretty stupid things in our lives that we regret, and would love to change.

I pray that she finds her way back home to you soon, and that you can find some comfort knowing that God is looking out for her. God bless.
Any luck yet?
Thank you for all your support. I feel like I'm about to die...

I thought I saw her this morning... when I needed to go to take my last test... I threw myself out of a moving car in the middle of the road (almost stopped). >_< Not one of my most brilliant moments. It was a black and white cat or something. We were in someone's yard who I know owns a riffle... I hear shots go off in his yard all the time. But just to make sure we doubled back to the house since his house is directly behind us (we couldn't follow whatever it was because of the vines). Of course, the next stop was my test 1 hour away... so I had to sit there.

The horrible part about this place I live... is that it's built up to hide things... for things to be unoticable. That way it's all prestine and all that. I just want to chop down all the trees and mow down all the tall grass. Or burn this friggin hole to the ground. I hate this place so much.

Even so - she is just so... noticable. I can't believe not more people haven't seen her. It's just so hard to find anyone who's wondering around who ISN'T HIGH or DRUNK! >_< I'm getting so sick of people.

We went to talk to our pound - I had to give them a description and I had to tell her why she was lost... and I nearly lost it myself. I was just so upset the whole time driving up to my test... Brad kept thinking up the best case sceneros and I just can't let myself think that way right now. I just don't want to think the best and never find her... and be crushed all at once.

I want to print up a lot of posters and plaster them on everyone's door - but I just want to lie down and be sad. I'm going to do it anyway... but I am just so upset.

I just can't believe he forgot about her.

I don't know what I'll do if I never see her again. I just kept thinking she would burst through the forrest and I would see her. All I want is to hear her bark or something... so I can yell for her.

The worst part... is I don't know where she would be... since I never walked her around the neighborhood. Our land has always been large enough to walk her around in... and as I meantioned before... people walk around here drunk or high (not everyone - but enough to be alarming)... not something I really want to deal with.

Oh yes - I left a post on the doggies in danger with all of her info and what she looks like. I hope it's enough.
My heart is absolutely breaking for you, still sending prayers that she will be found and returned, don't give up hope she will be spotted by someone as they are such a unique and noticeable breed. I can't even begin to imagine the stress and pain you are going through at the moment and still sending a white light that you will have her back  Keep strong XX
That is so awful my heart goes out to you to. I'll be saying a prayer for you and Momo also. Calling all the local veterinarians is a very good idea. I lost a dog once and that is how I found him. I'm so sorry your neighbors are so rotten.
I am so sorry. I lost my best buddy, My Toy Poodle Scooter when my Dad let him out and he squeezed through the gate. I did everything I possible could. I put posters on every telephone pole in my neighborhood and surrounding. (The ones in my neighborhood kept getting taken down so I think someone found him and didn't want to give him back. ) I walked the streets and drove. That was in 1995 :( Scooter did get out a time before that when friends of mine had been watching him. From the route he had taken he was trying to get home. He attempted to cross a very busy NJ highway. A wonderful man stopped his car and brought the dog to his daughter's house a couple of towns away. She called my town and gave them his license #. I had just gotten home and I got a call from the local police that someone had my dog. I didn't know he was gone. Nobody called me to let me know he was missing. They gave me the woman's phone # and I was over there as soon as I could get there. There are some really good caring people out there. I hope someone like that finds Momo
Hopefully you will get lucky like I did when my cat Sammy got out. He was running from Scooter and took a leap out of my second story window.
He was declawed and had never been outside. I put up posters at all the local businesses, Pet Stores, Restaurants..etc
I got a call that someone thought they saw him down the street. Sammy was gone for 10 days.... I found him but he wouldn't let me come near him. I lured him back to our property with treats. My ex-husband and I sat in a lot with him trying to get him for 2 hrs. I finally got him.
He had been eating with the strays at the cat lady's house down the street.
He was covered in fleas and a bit scratched up. I brought him inside and immediately gave him a flea bath. The flea shampoo got in his eye and he bit me in my hand causing nerve damage in my hand and thousands in medical bills and surgery for me. It was all worth it to have my cat back safe and sound.
I am praying for you that everything will turn out ok.

Hugs,
Elissa
My heart is breaking for you!

I just know, with enough positive thoughts sent your way, Momo will turn up!

Good luck today, you are in my thoughts!
Be careful with people who reply to the posters. There are some sick individuals out there. Meet ups should be done in public and with more than one person with you.

Don't pay any rewards unless you have your dog in hand.

Also be sure to try to put up some flyers at the local donut shops, or wherever the cops hang out. I assume you called the cops and begged them to make a quick broadcast and/or have a quick announcement at roll call. Begging and tears can't hurt here...
OH MY 8O I am so sorry this is happening to you & Momo your sweet sheepie girl...
I have sent out a plea for help to the rescue groups & contacts I have in SC/NC...
Keep the faith girl ...
Your Momo will be found soon!
Crossing fingers & paws here in Atlanta, GA
Diane...feeling your panic
We still haven't found her and it's starting to go on the third day. We think someone might have picked her up already. I'm a little worried about giving out a reward - because people around here might just try to steal it from me without my dog. I just wish she would walk home - or someone would find her and take her to the pound or something.

We're still looking - hopefully a door to door or flyers will work.
That's easy Integra, no dog no reward!! I checked early this morning to see if there was any word from you, I just can't believe MOMO is gone. Have you called the radio stations? Sometimes they will announce missing dogs. Did Momo have a license or rabies tag on? Anyone finding her should be able to trace her through that.
Integra, I'm so sorry to hear about Momo! I hope you find her really soon.

Sue
Oh Aimee!! I'm sooooo very sorry!! I can only imagine the heartbreak. I am praying that she will be returned to you soon. Please don't give up hope!
Integra,

I'm sorry to read about this loss. For what it might be worth, I think there was a thread posted some time ago about a member that lost her dog. Someone suggested to her that dogs generally travel south; she took the suggestion and sure enough - found the dog. I hope someone can remember that thread - it might be worth a try. I say a prayer to St. Anthony for you that you find MOMO.
Interga, Any news yet. Did you post flyers. Call the TV station, radio, police. Please keep us updated.
I hope Momo comes home soon...we are thinking of you.
I hope you find momo soon too. I can only imagine how you are feeling right now. I freaked out when my boys disappeared for a half hour a couple weeks ago, called up my hubby demanding to know where the farmer's field was that they go to. Ended up they were playing in the creek ignoring my calls. Good Luck!
I'm saying prayers right now that Momo and you are reunited soon. There's been quite a few Christmas miracles lately so please don't give up hope. I know you will find her.
Hope momo comes home soon...
Still nothing. There are a few flyers up at the school and at one of the Marine bases (since some marines do live out here). We've talked to the police in animal control and they know a sheepdog is missing around here. Brad and I are going to start sticking flyers on people's mail boxes as soon as he gets off of work.

I am sick with worry - it's going on 4 days now. It's so hard to sleep when I expect that she might scratch on the door at night while I sleep - and I don't hear her.
Be careful putting stuff on mailboxes. You're not really supposed to and sometimes cranky people will make complaints. When I managed the pizzeria, we did a lot of business through handbilling and we were required to rubber band them to doorknobs. Maybe try that method for known complainers! Good luck, I hope she turns up soon!
I am so sympathetic! Don't give up. My cat Miles was missing over a week before I found him. Flyers were the key because neighbors reported that they saw a woman with my cat. It was only when I put the flyers right in front of her building (randomly) that someone contacted me. I have a friend whose dog was missing a year before she was returned. The "adopter" happened to take her to her original vet and he recognized her. . .

I hope you find MoMo soon. And I hope your brother is spending all of his free time on this. I am thinking of you and hoping for good news. . .
Every time I get an email about a post on this topic I hope it's you saying MOMO is home  .
Intengra, I am so sorry and really at a loss for words..It is my worst nightmare to have something like this happen...My prayers and thoughts are with you
We're sorry to hear about Momo, but keep your heart and your eyes open, hopefully she will appear soon. In the meantime, you and Momo are in our prayers.
This is so heartbreaking for you :( Don't give up hope, Summit was returned to his family after several months. She'll be home before you know it, waiting for her bacon. Have you contacted every vet in your area? We are all praying for you both.
you know thats not a bad idea on the last post. Take your flyers to each Vet and I am sure they will be glad to post it for everyone to see. Also any Pet stores. You never know who will call. God Bless You And Summit. She will be home soon.
I was at the ver last week and a woman had brought in a beagle found with no tags to be scanned for a chip. Leaving flyers with the local vets is a great idea.
what I ment was bless you and Momo and Summit. you all will all be together God Bless all of you !
I was hoping for good news when I got home today :(
Have you heard anything, any leads at all? Did you contact all the vets in your state and ask them to scan any oes for a microchip if one is brought in, even if it is with someone who claims to be it's owner?
my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time i really hope that momo is found and returned to you soon.
(((HUGS))) I'm so sorry. I hope she comes home soon. I had a mini. schnauzer that ran off once, and someone found him over a hour away! They called our vet, gave them his rabies tag number, and they gave them our info. That was two weeks after he had run away (or had been taken). I thought I'd never see him again, so don't give up hope!
Sorry to hear about Momo, I hope you find her soon!

Please don't worry about where you are leaving the flyers, the important thing is to get the word out!!
Still thinking of you and praying you find Momo. This is just a thought I don't know if they would do it because they have so much other stuff to worry about but what about the police . If they are out patroling maybe they would keep and eye out. Its worth a try maybe contacting them.
Integra- Im so, so sorry to hear about Momo!!! I'm hoping and praying she comes home soon. Have you contacted all of the local vet offices in your town and the surrounding towns? Very, very often people will bring a lost dog into the vet if they cannot find the owner. Also, have you tried contacting all of the local rescue centers for your county? The more eyes you have looking for your pet, the better. Slso try putting up flyers at all of the local pet supply stores. Almost every one I've ever gone into has a bulletin board for this purpose. What about local gas stations, churches, and other places that have bill boards- even local schools... What about your college??? If it is anything like mine was, they have a billboard in the student center or cafeteria! I'm just trying to brain storm what places might have a spot that you can put Mom's flyer on... Good luck, I'm pulling for you!!! COME HOME MOMO!!!!

Funny you should say that. :) We called all the vets in our area - and they promised to scan any OES that came in even if they claimed it as theirs since there are so few (I've only seen one other OES around here).
Nothing today either - we plastered flyers up over half the neiborhood. If they call to complain - it doesn't matter much to me. We are going to get the rest of the mail boxes today - and probably call all of the groomers since we called all the vets yesterday.

So far we have three contacts in our neighborhood who have told us they would talk to their friends that lived out there if they found her or not.

Tomorrow - I'm going to be knocking on every door and making lists of people who haven't answered.

It's times like these I feel bad for teaching Momo not to bark so much - because right now I wish she would bark her brains out (OES have that special two-pans-cracking-together bark).

At least if she hears us at the door of someone's house we should be able to tell if it is her if she barks (if they don't want to give her up).

I'm starting to feel a bit more optimistic - I keep trying to envision me finding her in different ways - fantasizing has helped me sleep a bit better at night instead of thinking about the terrible things that could have happened.

Brad and I have made a promise to ourselves that we aren't letting Paul touch our dog... ever again. We're also going to get all of our animals tags and collars (the cats do not have one since they are in-door cats... mistake)! And we are going to get Momo a GPS collar and stick it on her if we get her back... we might even get the cats collars too.

I just wish my puppy would burst through the woods around our house and just come home already.

I'll keep putting up flyers, calling and knocking on doors until then...

Heh... that little (whichever word you think best describes him at this point) hasn't done much. In fact he has been much more of a hinderance than a help. He keeps getting online (we have dial up right now) when we are trying to make phone calls... and when I need to get online to post her on another forum or missing pet page. I could strangle him!

Yesterday I asked if he would just get some of the flyers out IN TOWN where the resturants and gas stations were - and all he did was post them on mail boxes... where we already went. I could kill him!

He is 20 years old... and I can't believe everyone is babying him so much in my house right now. I can't wait until my dad gets back and straitens his (bleep) out! I could hyperventalate just thinking about what he did and what he is getting away with. I don't want people to beat him to death or scream at him... but I wish my family would just AGREE with me - about how stupid and irrisponsible he was... and how he needs to FRIGGIN' HELP OUT A BIT! GRRRRR!
Oh Integra...........
My heart goes out to Brad and you especially. I know how terrifing it can be when a pet is missing. Just try to have hope, you never knwo what can happen, which i guess is also the problem. I just wantd to let you know that i am praying for you and Momo. in my experience it really helped out a lot to actuallly talk to people, that way you can read their expressions. But in your neighbor i would recommend taking Brad.

I'll be praying for you
