Going football crazy!

The other day during the Superbowl, there in the last quarter, I was screaming this high pitch shrill scream and yelling at the tv. Abbi came running, licked my face (whining) and investigated the tv. Vic comment on the fact that Abbi seemed to be whining.
So I looked down at her, she had laid on my feet and was licking them. I guess she thought I was hurt, so I sat down with her and petted her until that last 4 seconds when I up was yelling and screaming again. Abbi got up and danced with me. Even my very stoic hubby was excited. The girls came running downstairs too. Guess we sort of scared everybody. Once things calmed down Abbi wouldn't leave my side. I really think she's worried about me.
Actually my daughters seemed a bit worried too, because I usually read a book while watching the football games with Vic. But that was a great last quarter! If more football games were like that, I wouldn't be going to the library so much. But Abbi might have to put me outside for a time out.

Well, football is "everything" in Texas....Big Ben goes crazy when we are cheering at the television, too! He kind of does this side to side jump and then finds a rawhide bone and throws it up into the air. Quite the little cheerleader I guess you could say. Because we are a family sports-nuts Ben always has a lot of opportunities to show off!

Thank goodness Big Ben's innocent eyes weren't on the television at halftime Sunday, haha! 8O

Going back to Big Ben's biting episode after a play-off Pats touchdown, he's been doing better. He's made up with dad and he's adapted to a few new rules around the house which is helping keep things under control!
As long as you try dogs will. Sometimes it just takes awhile to figure things out.
Like I said, I am not a big football fan, but if the Texans would play like that, I mean play until the very end of the game ... well, I just might become more of a fan. We root for them, but I always have a book handy. Vic is always trying to educate me about football, so I pick up tibits, but HE's the football fan of our house. We girls have a shorter attention span, so we watch BASKETBALL. But don't talk to us about the Rockets this year. We need some TEAM players. Tired of the individuals.

Give Big Ben a good rub down for me. I hate this rainy weather. I might have to use the car to pick up the girls. Maybe just an umbrella? I hate school traffic.
Guess what? I played hookie today. Scanned in some puppy photos of Abbi. I over-reduced or need t re-size them, but I still think they are adorable. I have to change loads of clothes and get supper planned out, but thought I would brag to somebody. Took 2 hours to scan, upload, and publish the page. I am on dial-up, so that's my record to-date. Actually I did a band page in 30 minutes, but it was mostly text.

I hope the link is correct! What do you think?
Yeah, we don't need to talk about the Rockets - it's just not pretty. We usually take the kids to a game or two every season but we just haven't really been in the mood this year! We are just waiting for baseball season now....

The pictures of Abbi are great, such a beauty! I don't have any pictures of Ben on my computer...well one, but it's not in a format that I can reduce the size to fit here. Ben isn't very photogenic when his hair is short - his blue eyes give him red-eye in pictures. He gets groomed on Monday so I'll have to take some new pictures....he's getting shaggier (is that a word?) so they might turn out better.

I hate the rain, too. Very gloomy day today! We shave Ben late fall because we can't keep up with the grooming during the rainy season. Seems odd that he's longer in the summer than the winter but so far it's worked. The worst part of rainy days is when he needs to go out, he absolutely hates getting his paws wet which drives us nuts. I've literally seen the big goof pee with his front paws in the grass and the back paws on the patio. Lucky for us his aim is pretty good! One of our new rules is he must sit for us before coming in from the backyard. On rainy days he just gives us a look ...."it's bad enough my paws are wet and now you want me to sit on this soaked patio and get my rear wet, too?" Half of me wants to get our big beast inside but then I have to stop myself and be consistent with our "must sit" rule. Yeah, I do hate rainy days!
About 2 years ago it rained for like 2 weeks straight. Abbi didn't want to get wet and refused to go out unless one of us went with her (and even then she had to be sort of pulled out). It would take a great deal of patience to get her to pee or anything else. She wouldn't eat or drink much and I became very worried. (She also had these accidents that she would try to clean up herself, yuck!)
So I put a towel that she had peed on in the bath tub and left her in the bathroom at night. Well it worked for a while, she used the bath tub for relieving herself. But then she just refused to do it any more and started having accidents.
So now I go with an umbrella and stand out there no matter what until she's finished. Then I dry off her paws and we go inside. What a pain. So this morning I walked her for about 40 minutes and I just got finished taking her to pick up my daughter -- so we are all fixed up until later tonight. She's actually getting use to the rain and was fetching for me earlier. I think she's mostly afraid of lightening, and this storm hasn't had any.
If I don't go out, she will pee on the patio and come back in, which is what my husband allows. I say that's just cheating and gross. He says it gets washed off anyways. Guys! What happens if she gets lazy and starts doing that ALL the time I ask. Haven't gotten an answer yet.

Yes, yes take some photos and just get the developer to make a disk or floppy. You just need low resolution photos. If you post them at Yahoo or one of the other internet sites, this program will just go and access it directly from the web. That way you only have to download it to your web site or a photo site. The small signature photo does need to be reduced, but you can SAVE AS JPG in almost all photo editors to reformat a photo. and while you are saving have it reduce it down for e-mail. Even the windows editor will reduce the size to 150 x 150 pixels if you hit RESIZE while viewing the photo. Then save it by a unique name so you remember it is a reduced photo. And you have an avatar photo ready for uploading. I am always astounded at how much time I fritter away when I work with our photos. Still it is fun to go back and look at the photos later.
Good luck. I had better go check on supper.
Okay, was able to reformat a jpg to fit in the margin...here's Big Ben!
Hopefully a more updated picture to come after he gets groomed Monday...with my luck it will rain on Monday.
What a big white-faced hansome guy! Looks like he's not the driving type. Do you think he thinks the car just goes when we hop in? Abbi triesd riding in the front once, but something about it frightens her, which is good. She likes to ride in the very back or lay on the back seats with the girls.
Love your photo!
And seeing how overcast it is today, you are probably right about the rain. I guess we need it, but it does seem a bit too gloomy. Sounds like people to the N. and E. are going to get more snow. That's if our weather guys are accurate. I sometimes wonder. Here's to hoping for a brighter weekend.
Another top Avatar picture! - You two have really set us all a challenge!
Somewhere I have one of Abbi in our canoe. And one of her trying to sit on a tractor's seat. I will have to go find those and see if I can scan them. This scanner actually is quite easy to use. Wish my first scanner was as easy.
Well, Big Ben only likes to be in the front seat which is difficult considering I drive a stick! (Not to mention trying to make a left turn with his big head in the way.) Other than a trip to get groomed we don't go on many road trips. If the kids are in the back he sometimes rides with them. Grandmom took this picture. Ben usually goes with her to pick the kids up from school. He sees her car and jumps right in. She spoils him - even if she isn't planning on driving anywhere he'll jump in and she'll feel obligated to drive him around the block a couple of times.
No wonder he's happier to see grandmom than me! :)
I want my Granmother to be like yours. Neither one will have much to do with Abbi, but they both watch her like hawks. I think they are just waiting for her to do something she shouldn't.
My dog likes two of my 5 brothers though. One of them will actually take her on trips with him. But he spoils her!
We have a car that's manual too. Abbi hates it, because its so small. I love driving it because it accelerates so fast and steers so easily. Maybe that's why Abbi doesn't like riding in it?
You must be on line this AM?
We used to prop up a childs gate behind the driver's and passenger's seat to keep the "little one" in back. This also worked (when we expanded the gate) in the motorhome to keep him off of the driver's feet, which we thought might be important.

We found one from "Gerry" or something like that, that was a white mesh with soft blue padding top and bottom over the crossbars.

He used to LOVE to "go for a ride"...
That reminds me of when we were living in Holland. Everyone there had a pet of some sort. And they take the very best behaved into restraunts with them.
To get back to what the netting reminded me of, any rental car that was larger than a Citroen (like a bug) they had netting in the back. It would be behind the front seats or on the rear deck. I thought it was for groceries, as they do not bag your groceries there. So I use to take a laundry basket, put it in my basket, fill it up, and transfer it to the back of the car. Then I would use the netting to secure it all in place (snapping it onto the deck itself). Well we had our dog over there and we took her to a kennel. She was in a carrier in the front with us, because she was this spaniel mix. The owner of the kennel comes out and is shaking her head. She seemed to think the dog should have been in the back. We came to pick the dog up and the owner of the kennel places her carrier in the back and tacks the netting up to the ceiling. Neatest contraption. Used that netting for our luggage later.
As for pets in restraunts, ask what happens when you trip over this huge St. Bernard type of dog when you are trying to get to the only available table. The answer is not "Fall on your face!" as you might think. Talk about dumb Americans.
