Hello! I am new here and I am from Victoria BC, Canada. My husband and I would love to adopt an adult or an OES puppy. We have wanted one of these "family members" for quite some time and are now yard proofed and ready!!! ANY information you have would be wonderful and we have seen a lot of already helpful tips on your boards. If there are any OES needing homes, we would love to participate.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!

Melanie
Ok! Maybe someone could help me find a breeder in British Columbia Canada?? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Melanie
Just wanted to hop in and say "Welcome to the forum!" and give my 2 cents worth.

Adoption of an OES that needs a new home, or purchase of a puppy from a reputable breeder usually requires some amount of patience. Smile

Finding the right dog for the right home is the most important part of re-homing a dog, and finding a reputable breeder with an available litter can take time as there are frequently (but not always!) waiting lists.

Welcome to the forum! Very Happy

Have you contacted any rescue groups yet? There is a link to a list of contacts on our main page, www.oes.org
To look for a breeder I would recommend checking with the national breed club, as well as Dogs In Canada Annual.
Hi Melanie-

You could try the rescue links on the front page of the forum, they may have some info for rescue groups in Canada. Also ty petfinder with a search for OES in your area. For puppies... I'd try looking online for the Canadian OES breed club- Stacey- do you know who this is? Otherwise Tarja Peters is the breeder refferal person for the US club (Old English Sheepdog club of America) she may know some people in Canada... her e-mail is oescrazy2@yahoo.com

good luck in your search!!!

Hi Melanie,

I'm Marianne from Vancouver, welcome to the forum!

While our shelters rarely have sheepies (although I said that last time and 2 sheepies and a mix turned up almost as soon as I posted that previously.)

There are two sheepie rescues here..one on the mainland and one on the Island. I've misplaced my phone book at the moment but if you look up OES rescue, Canada you'll find the two I'm speaking of.

I'm aware that the one on the Island currently has a girl sheepie that is currently being brought back to a healthy status by them, as she was in rough shape when found.

Good Luck!
