What are you getting your SO's for Christmas?

SO- significant other (husband/girlfriend)

...and is there anything you'd love to get?

Just thought we could swap ideas ...if anyone had any good ones. :)

Mine won't help any since my husband asked for a hand saw and a snow blower.

When we went to vegas, he had that oxygen thing done (basically give you pure oxygen/massage) and he loved this battery-operated octopus they put on your head ........so I'm including that in his stocking. ...along with some aveda shampoo he LOVES (because it tingles), a tire pressure thingy that automatically tells you instead of popping out, and if I can fit it in the stocking ...I bought some flashlight that you just shake to use (not battery operated).

I'll also try to order a few sweaters for him since he's wearing the same thing every weekend!

No help here...we are boring....just buying stuff for the house...a KING size bed for us, a full bed for colleens room and the sofa for the living room....the king size bed is going to be a real treat...Brian maybe will stop whacking me in the middle of the night and tell me that Im dreaming. 8O
New beds feel AWESOME!! I know if we got a king size bed, it would mean more animals on the bed... so I guess I can wait.

I'm holding my tongue and trying to behave with this one. I could go so many places with this.
LOL....bite that tounge Leanne :D
I'm not much help either. I start asking my husband in June to start thinking about what he wants for the holidays. So far the only thing I can remember him mentioning is some multi taking tool from Home Depot. Other than that, stuff for the house.

Darcy, you will LOVE your king sized bed! Remember to ask for it whenever you stay at a hotel too. You'll never want to sleep in a queen/double size bed again. When we go to my inlaws, we choose to sleep in separate twin beds so we can get some rest!
You will love the king size bed and so will Panda!! Bunker figures that the more space on the bed, the more she can hog . She loves Brian's Bed. Mommy and Bri can sleep squished together and I can hog 1/2 the bed and sleep with my head on the pillows. Silly Sheepie.
LOL...My mom thinks that its weird that when we go on vacation that we each sleep in our own queen size bed....but really, its the most relaxing and the best sleep we ever get. We both are NOT cuddlers...bed hogs and sheet stealers yes, but cuddlers, no way..
We have a king sized bed and I love it and hate it at the same time. I feel so far away from my husband. He LOVES it. But somehow the cat always ends up sleeping on the outside part of my pillow and so I need to move more to the middle, so he complains that I take up all the room, and the covers, and the pillows, and the cats...
Except for last night. It was cold out and we didn't have the heat on so Kirby kitten instead of sleeping on my pillow came and slept in the covers with me against my stomach. very cute, but I was worried she'd suffocate (she didn't...)

Oh, and I am no help. Since this is our first married Christmas together I told him I wanted a romantic gift. He's usually good about that sort of thing so I'm leaving it up to him.

He wants new slippers...nothing too exciting...
WE do that to. I sometimes think the maids think we're crazy. On holidays and we sleep in seprate beds. I'm like Darcy, Don't touch me when I am sleeping. Especially with your feet!
What do you buy a man who has everything?
In Brians case...if he wanted it....hair plugs 8O
Oops that sounded really bad....Poor Brian...I love you!
LOL! I promise not to tell Brian about that.

My husband wants a new stereo receiver and was kind enough to print the information off the internet so I don't mess up  He also needs a new "work watch" - he's a service technician for printing equipment so he needs something cheap but really durable. And he needs some new pants, so I'll use this as an opportunity to improve his wardrobe. There were some good sales at Dillards...

I'm leaning toward house stuff for me - I've been wanting a grandfather clock so I have to go out and price them this weekend to see if I can find an affordable one. Stuff for us adults is so boring! Thank goodness for the kids. I ordered a bunch of Tinkerbell stuff from Disney.com for my niece - now THAT'S Christmas shopping!
I bought my husband an electric razor (booooorrrrrring) and some cologne. I'm not sure what else I'm getting him but hopefully something a little more exciting. Maybe I'll get him that woven tapestry for our dining room, I've been looking at..... I'm sure he'd love it! :D
HAHAHAHA.
After being married for 30 years, it gets harder every year to think of something that would be really neat rather than just functional and practical. But as Dale has said, if there's anything we want during the year, we usually get it at that time, so what's the big deal? The big deal is that it leaves nothing for Christmas!! Men!

That being said - When we put up our Christmas tree, I'm in charge of the lights first (I can REALLY particular about the lights  ). But since we get an 11' tree, I have to rely on either Dale or Spencer to do the top third of the tree that I can't reach on our ladder - and most of the time I just grin and bear the results. So this year he mentioned something about getting one of those super-duper ladders that contort into all kinds of positions so that I could safely do the top of the tree. And so he has a safer ladder to do stuff around the house, too. SO - that's what I bought.

As for what he's buying me? It's anyone's guess! I'll let you know after Christmas!

Chris
I'm getting Doug a Palm One Treo 650 "smartphone", it's one of those blackberry phones with an mp3 player and the whole nine yards. He loves high tech gadgets. He has NO IDEA and is going ot be sooo surprised. I NEVER ask him what he wants for Christmas but always try to find something he never in a million years would expect. Usually I do pretty well. Last year I got him a satellite radio with car set up and boom box.... come to think of it I'M still paying the monthly fee!!!!!!Hmmmmmm I think it's time for HIM TO PAY IT
Danita wanted an ipod Nano for the gym, but now that she's pregnant she cannot go, so instead we'll be building a baby's room and a new studio for her to work.
We're pretty boring too :( Since we are house shopping I'd rather just not get/give anything until we see what new stuff we'll want. But I would like the Dyson animal vacuum.

Hey Darcy, there's room for 2 adults and three dogs(4 if they lay still) in a king size bed :D

VERY GOOD!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAH. This could go on and on and on AND ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kinda like the SONG THAT NEVER ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!
LMBO, I always know SOMEONE will reply with "I love my dyson!!!" whenever it's mentioned (in real life and on the net). I have to admit that I'm glad I have one. Someone came to my door and tried to sell me a Kirby. Once I said "I have a Dyson" ...they said "okay, thank you... good-bye. We already know where this will go." Not that the Kirby isn't a great one, but they said they already went to a few houses with Dysons and the people spent so much time talking it that they couldn't get a word about their Kirby.
anyways, I can't resist holiday shopping esp. on the net.

I just ordered this cotton/cashmere sweater for mr. joah. It was already on sale and I found a promotional code for an additional 20% off plus free shipping to alaska (hard to find)! So I'm pumped.

(bahh.. the color comes in too dark, but it's really lighter brown/java. i remember it from the store)

HAHAHAHA< well as you all know I'm VACUUME (oh darn I've forgotten how to spell it already, sorry ROn you tired so hard). BUT I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY do love my DYson. People laugh when I get all dreamy eyed when I talk about it!!!!!!!!!

But back to the subject at hand.....SO Christmas gifts. I AM REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY Ticked off. This got me thinking I'g better get my rear in gear and go get that fancy phone I have been planning to buy so at lunch time I ran down to the Verizon store. I had found the phone on line at the Verizon site for $350.00 BUT GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though it doesn't say it on the site, THAT PRICE is on for NEW CUSTOMERS. Us OLD LOYAL customers aren't worth dog doo, we have to pay FULL PRICE $550.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So they don't really care about you once they get you, they just want to "get you". Apparently every 22 months you can get a $100.00 "upgrade credit but I won't be eligible for that until the end of January............. I'm not sure how they figure that since I've had Verizon for about 8 years........ SOmething compoicated about adding Doug to my plan a couple years ago and HE got a new phone. Mean while I've had the same phone FOREVER.

ARGHHHHH, so maybe poor Doug isn't getting a fancy phone for Christmas

Im in on this now!!!
We're actually going through something similar.

We have Cingular and want a new phone WITHOUT the additional commitment (sign up for another 2 yrs). Normally that's not a big deal since I like them, but Cingular does not have any towers in Anchorage, AK or surrounding areas!!! They have a contract to share towers with a few places, but to be on the safe side ...we wanted to look at other service providers after our plan ends. We have yet another year still!

I tried to get out of the contract purely because..
1) we can't even pay full price (and outrageous $200+) for a new cell phone (ours sucks royally) because we have to give them the zipcode of the area code we live in ...........WHICH they don't service. Their solution: We can't provide you with a new phone. I'm still working this out with them because I don't see why it has to be MY zipcode here to get a new phone.

2) they don't service this area yet!

ironically, we are starting to hear that cingular has the best service here. EVERY SINGLE service provider here barely works as it is. The other providers with towers here get dropped or come in "echo'ed" VERY frequently. ...not to mention many people can't use their phone in their homes.
Boring gifts here too...hubby wants a chain saw....I got one...hard to wrap
I want my grandmother's engagement ring/wedding band fixed and resized.
Also on the list are new appliances...we sold our house with the appliances and hubby wants a sectional sofa
for steve this year white water rafting and canoeing day. last year a hunting day with birds of prey, year before microlighting

Darcy you're crackin me up!!!
I can't say what I'm getting hubby because he very occasionallly reads the forum
And on that note....

ROB, I WANT A DIGITAL CAMERA PLEEEEEAAASE!!!
I love those websites that let you send "hints" to people. I think it's so funny! You should try that, Stacey. Find the one you want on a website and e-mail it to Rob.

Ginny - I've always hated that about cell phone companies, too. Once they have you, they really care nothing about keeping you as a customer. All the incentives are geared toward new customers. There is no customer loyalty.
What is a Dyson? I am a clean freak but I've never heard of it.
Dyson is a new type of vacuum cleaner. The inventor is in a commercial in the that is always on TV in the states. He claims that it uses a different type of suction that traditional vacuum cleaners.

Here's the web link

You wouldn't wanna sleep with me I can't sleep unless my feet are touching something. My husband doesn't like feet either. I usually tuck them under the dog at the foot of my bed. I also don't lay still to long either if I'm overtired I'm fidgety and restless. :)
I want a Dyson to but there so expensive. Do they really work better and not clog? One Christmas approx 15 years ago I thought I got my husband the best x-mas gift ever. I couln't wait till Christmas morning till he opened it. I thought he would love it. I bought him a Gibson electric guitar. The look on his face was priceless total amazement. The part I didn't tell you is he's not a musician. I just though since he was always playing the air guitar he would love to learn to play it. Never did learn and every year at Christmas he says Tam no surprises  Everytime I listen to the Red Hot Chili Pepppers I'm inspired to play it in fact I just might take lessons. Don't know what I'm getting him I did buy him one of those cool heat sautering irons ( not very exciting)
Yuck. I hate feet touching me. You would have to have your own bed.

Actually, it is my understanding that lack of service in a new area that you move to is one of the few reasons you can cancel a cell contract. At least that was my experience. When I moved I had AT&T, there were absolutely NO TOWERS in this area and I couldn't make a call within 5 miles of my house. I was able to cancel the contract and switch to Verizon without penalty for that reason. When I contracted with Verizon I verified with them that if I were to ever move that lack of service would be a reason to cancel. I don't know if it is provider specific. I would hope that especially in the case of the military that cell providers would be understanding!!!

YUP, THEY SURE DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Gibson!!! What a wife :D I live in a house that has more guitars than FORKS (I don't play but everyone else does). Take the PLUNGE, learn to play
We're getting a big gift together, a new bedroom set. Can't wait!

Thanks for the laugh! It was a good try.
My husband is easy, books and DVD's. A couple of minutes on Amazon.com and my shopping is finished. Boring, I know. Actually we shouldn't be exchanging gifts as we just put in a new furnace.

As for me I say "diamonds and gold" every year and only once year got a pair of earrings. Oh well, I keep trying.

NOW as for the king size bed........one husband and two sheepdog size? Me, I'm in a queen bed fighting for space with a third sheepdog. I remember sleeping........with my husband and no dog in a king size bed but it's been years...........
Tasker's Mom , mine is into gadgets also and a few month ago he bought himself a Treo, not cheap, but he does love it. I think he bought it through palm website directly though. Every Christmas I break my brain trying to figure out what to get him. He is really into gadgets and preatty much buys them for himself through the year. This Christmas I am getting him a gift ceritificate to drive in a reall race car on a race track. I think it's something that he will remember for a long time , I also looked into a trip on a helicopter around the city, but they don't offer it in out area.

Tanya(Tommy)
http://www.greatamericandays.com/ is the website where they have stuff like that and you can choose it by location also.

Tanya
What do you guys think about people buying their own gifts for themselves, from their spouses?
I know many people who do this now and am seriously thinking I should just go ahead and order the digital camera I want, as well as a new photo printer, and a rapid charger for the camera, and an old english calendar...
My hubby saw me looking at the camera online and he said why not order it? But I didin't. I dunno, I enjoy buying gifts for him, but I know he doesn't enjoy buying gifts for anyone, lol, he just doesn't have time. :?
Yup Stacey thats what I have to do....to get what I want, the right size, and not spend a fortune...lol...we just buy big things together...its not the same but then again you dont have to venture out the day after Christmas to exchange it either.
I guess I'm a brat..... I like to have a gift to open.... no matter how small on Christmas morning. Doesn't even have to be big or expensive, just something that shows he put some "thought" into it. My FAVORITE gift one year was a kite that was made out of nylon and was a butterfly, another year it was a blown glass ball for hanging in the window. My "Ex" used to do the expensive jewlry bit but that was only because he was such a #*@* the rest of the year!!!! So now I'm VERY SUSPICIOUS of gifts that come in small velvet boxes
Every year we say we aren't buying each other gifts. We usually go out and purchase something together or if we bought something big during the year we'll say, "That's our holiday gift". This year we bought ourselves many expensive gifts, big screen tv, bedroom furniture. One of my gifts was to get my teeth whitened which I'm still doing. :D It's a big pain and the stuff tastes awful!

We both like opening gifts so we do purchase something small, i.e. calendar.
I won't mind not having a gift to open xmas morning, I'll be too busy taking pics of everyone else! LOL
This is the camera I want....

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To heck with hints, Merry Christmas to ME! I ordered it  ... it should be here by Friday :D
YOU GOOOOO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called hubby at work, and I said Merry Xmas to me, thanks. He said "Oh, ok, what did we get you?" So I told him and he said "Cool, now how about that xbox360 for me?"
Since he's off the hook for your present, I'd tell him to go out or online to buy the Xbox and a game for himself! :D

Tell him good luck finding one! lol They're going for nearly or over 1k on ebay! Hubby had one pre-ordered and I made him cancel it. I'm kicking myself now...lol I would have resold it quick. ;)
Yeah, I realized that when I started looking for one... they are no where to be found, except, as you mentioned, on ebay for ridiculously high prices. 8O
Bob did the self presenting thing this year. He came home and handed me a reeipt for a new piece of audio gear and said this is what you're getting me for Christmas, go down and pay for it. At least I can't be blamed for getting the 'wrong' thing this year.

In return for his idea of the ideal gift, I handed him a 3 page wish list for me. Get busy!

I'm not usually that into this whole present thing. I usually do something sentimental or something that the person can really use. Last year I made my mom and my mother-in-law quilts. On my mom's the squares were pictures of the family and on my mother-in-laws I did wedding pics from their wedding, my husband's sister's wedding and our wedding. For those of you who know me or those that read the cooking forum, that's a pretty outstanding feet because I am absolutely not domestic or crafty at all!

One year my father-in-law was very proud of a picture he had taken in Europe so I stole it, had it blown up in black and white and framed. He has it hanging over his desk in his office.
Sometimes it's the gifts you put the most thought into and not the really expensive ones that are the best. On that note, I did ask for a hot tub for Christmas and I'll be really disappointed if I don't get it!

As for guitar lessons, Comcast offers video lessons in their On Demand section. It's under music and best of all, they're free with your subscription.
Before i say my wish list I have too add my 2cents in w/ the whole king size bed.Me and my bf have a king size bed and I LOVE it.Im such a werid 8O sleeper.I have insomia(had it since I can remember)so i take Trazadone and it knocks me out,I mean dead out.The funny thing is IF Bob (my bf) even comes near my side of the bed I guess i freak out in my sleep and say loud "GET OFF MY SIDE!!LMAO!!Oh and IF his feet touch me,even tho i wear 2pairs of socks too bed,I kick the hades out of hs legs! Besides my 9yr old daughter I HATE too be touched/cuddled,I feel trapped.(im sure its from my abuse from my "mom")but I just thought it was funny what darcy said!!hehe!!I sooooooooooo relate!!

I hope everyone has fun looking for gifts!!weeeeeeee!!what joy!!LOL!!
I love to visit people and they say "the video games are for the kids" yet it's only the adults ever playing!!! 8)

It always surprises me to meet other women like this. I don't get it! :) My mil and mom are the same way and it kills me because "I just want to cuddle!!!" How can people not love it (from immediate family)? ;) ;)
a radar detector, she speeds.
^^^ Funny. My husband would LOVE one of those. ...but I keep thinking he would be more tempted to speed if he thinks he's got a small security blanket on his dashboard.

I just ordered an infant hat and bib with his fraternity stuff on it. So technically it's something I wanted but won't get in trouble for spending money again on clothes since it's technically for him.

Added a Beavis&Butthead Christmas DVD as a stocking stuffer. I never feel like I have enough for folks.
All this makes me remember the first Christmas my husband and I spent together. My birthday is right before Christmas and one of my gifts was a Hoppe's gun cleaning kit. I thought it was strange since I don't have a gun but it's the thought, right? Christmas day we had tons of gifts and I loved all of mine. Then came the final package.....a rifle 8O Having never expressed an interest in guns I was pretty taken aback but he was so excited about it. I became the owner of a Browning 30.06 A bolt medallion with a Burris scope. Fifteen years later he FINALLY admitted the gun was really for him  Probably a good thing since I'm almost blind in my right eye and couldn't even hit the target during practice
Did you get him sexy lingerie for the same reason?
  Wish I had tought of that then! Too late in the day now :(
Speed radar??Awesome gift,I have 3!!LOL!!One in each vehicle. When i got my Monte Carlo SS I got 3speeding tix in a 5month period. My last one I went too court too see if i could get it lowered.AND I DID!!Talk about being lucky.

Back too the cuddeling,I dont know why I dont like it.I love too cuddle w/ my fur babies, and my 9yr old,but adults I just feel trapped and suffocating.Must be from childhood issues????I do remember when I was 1st was w/ my bf I kind of liked cuddeling, but not any more.Hugging is fine I like tha,but if a hug last for more than 2mins then Im out!!LOL!!SOUNDS LIKE IM THE ONLY ONE W/ cuddle issues  .
