blue eyes

when can you tell what color eyes the baby will have? i picked up our first oes saturday. his eyes are still bluish like all babies. the breeder feels like one eye will be blue. both eyes show red with a camera flash.joby is 6 weeks today. also - if we show what is china wall blue? is that dark or light blue?
just to brag on my baby - i think he is the smartest because he already responds to his name and tinkles on the puppy pad!! how about that :)

The pink on their noses changes by the time they are 1 year old. Their hair color starts changing in splotches at about 5 months (but can take another 5 months to complete the change.) My puppy was born with two brown eyes. All of her sibling had at least 1 blue eye (there were 9 pups and 4 had two blue eyes).
I was told the ones with two light blue eyes were called china walled blue, but I may be mistaken. Seems if they have 2 blue eyes it is referred to as "walled" (sort of like back-to-back). There was something about a blue merle gene association which I did not understand either. When I looked up the bit about a deafness association the vet pages had mixed findings, but breeders believe that it exists. So check out his hearing regularly. If he's answering to his name, I think you have nothing to worry about, but keep deafness in mind as it could be deaf in only one ear or lose its hearing later (quite rare I think). Since yours is learning so quickly you don' t have much to worry about.
Their eyes are all so beautiful and expressive.
Love to see the photos, or did you already post them? I'll go look.

Sounds like an intelligent pup to me. How old is he? Congrats!
thanx!! aging right for the response. some people say china wall blue is the light blue and i have read they can have one blue and one brown eye. both eyes still seem blue but not light blue as his mom. he was 6 weeks old on monday. i'm sure he can hear as he already responds to his name and comes running when my kids are laughing - he's always ready to bounce and play. we have other pets and there has been no problem with him fitting in. i don't know how to post pictures.
To post photos go to the photo topic and follow Ron's directions. They are in the top post of that section. Also it has been discussed, so you could just search, by using the seach icon up there at the top of this page and entersearch post for and put photos or posting photos. Something like that. Basically it helps if you have photos posted somewhere on the web in jpeg format. Then you just direct people to that site, as outlined in the directions.
If you want to put a avatar or
small photo with your name you will need to sign in and go to your PROFILE. Under PROFILE go to the bottom of the page. There's an upload area there.
Before you can upload a photo it has to be reduced. Use any photo editor (including the basic one you that came with your browser ... it's the one that automatically opens your photos) and hit the RESIZE option. Change the format to pixels and then resize your photo to the closest combination to 150x 150 pixels. Save it undr a new name where you can find it easy .. like on your DESKTOP or My documents. It has to be in JPEG format too.
Then just follow the upload directions.
You can search for better explanations elsewhere or just ask any specific question. Photos really add something to the experience.
Blue eyed OES do seem to get more attention, but being an OES gets plenty anyways.
