sheepie survey

i thought this would be a good way for us to share/brag about our pups

name: walter
age: 10 months
weight: 67 pounds (i hope he gets bigger)
eye color: brown

behavior problems: haha this category was made specially for walter.. he is food aggressive and has dominant behavior.
medical problems: nothing serious, just an ear infection right now
personality type: laid back most of the time, sometimes insanely energetic and playful, and unfortunately sometimes aggressive (were working on it..)

cutest thing ever done: when my parents were on vacation we slept in their bed and he would sleep with his head resting on my feet.
most mischievious thing ever done: the first month we had him home he stole a pen off my dads dresser and ate it on their carpet, leaving me to clean up ink stains on the carpet and walter.
cute habit: sleeping on his back with his paws on his chest and his feet just hangin there
bad habit: jumping to greet people, stealing gum (he loves gum), becoming dead weight when its time to go in his room for bed so i have to drag him across the floor

favorite food: cheese, eggs, dirt, snow
least favorite food: the only thing he doesnt eat is the food i put in his bowl
favorite game: soccer and chase (he chases me and knocks me over)
favorite place to sleep: by the back door where theres a nice cool breeze

anything else: walter loves treats so much that when he had medicine for his surgery (herniated umbilical cord and he got neutered) he would take it right out of my hand thinking it was a treat, chew it up and look to see if i had more.

Name Jack and Annabelle
Birthday April 18 (9 mo) June 20 (7 mo)
Weight 90 lbs and 55 lbs.
Eyes brown on both

Behavior problems: Jack and Annabelle have the same problem they both get TOO excited when visitors come over and they don't really jump up, but they bump up and unsuspecting visitors can get knocked down easily. All training goes out the window for about 10 minutes until the newness of our visitors wears off.

Medical Problems: Jack had kennel cough once nothing serious and Jack and Annabelle once climbed on the dryer and got Ajax cleaning stuff and ate it. Our vet told us over the phone to give them a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide every 10 minutes to induce vommiting and they were fine. We had a heart attack from it, but they were fine.

Personality JACK is mostly obedient. He pretends to not hear me every once in awhile. Learns new thing very quickly and enjoys learning and pleasing the family. He loves sitting in everyone's lap, but the kids are 6 and 3 and he just doesn't fit, he has no idea how big he really is. He is usually very laid back, but he can run circles around us in spurts. He has only been slightly aggressive when my dad was playing chase in the yard with my 3 year old, Joey started screaming and laughing and Jack started barking and pushing my dad away from him. I thought he was going to bite him, but he didn't. ANNABELLE is very obedient. You only say it once and she does it. She is happy chewing on any type of bone. She also loves fetch. She likes to lay beside you for tummy rubbins. :) She gets very hyper at times and will run and jump for a little bit it is very funny. She loves everyone and doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body.

Cutest things Jack and Annabelle get in some really cute positions to sleep together. Jack giving the cats a bath is very cute. Oh and when they chew on toys together it is cute, because if one of them wants to get up the other one has to follow the other, because they are both too stubborn to let it go. Whenever Jack hears the word bath he runs and jumps in our tub. We have to coax him out if it is for us and it isn't easy. He loves a bath.

Most mischievious They both like climbing on top of things to open up cabinets. Chewing our wall up in the laundry room...Yes I mean eating a huge hole in the wall where a small cat can now get into. Taking off and running in circles as we call them inside and having to go get your shoes and drag him back in.

Bad habits Jack likes to roll over and pee when he thinks he is in trouble. It is kind of funny until he shoots pee all over him, and you, and the walls, and the carpet, and once he starts he just lets it loose. Bumping when he wants to move you where he wants you to be. I don't know if this is a bad habit, becuse he can't help being scared, but he doesn't like rain and thunderstorms so if you don't take him out before it starts then he will go to the bathroom in the house. He is getting better though, we had a light rain the other day and he went out. Annabelle's bad habits include stealing our food and stealing Jack's bone so he will chase her. Oh, and for both of them eating poo is a very bad habit. :( EWWW!

Favorite foodJacks is Bil-Jac, eggs, and all doggie type treats Annabelle is the same only peanut butter added to that. Jack doesn't like it. They both get upset tummies if they eat different things. Immodium AD has become a good friend to us and them at times. They will eat anything at all. No matter if it is edible or not. Oh and Playdoh is something that could be renamed Playdog and marketed as a doggie treat. Not that I give it to them, but they have taken it whenever the kids are playing with it and I am not supervising well enough.

Favorite game Hide-n-go-seek, fetch, chase, and car rides and going to the park count too. Jack loves going swimming and Annabelle likes wading pools.

Favorite sleeping spot Everywhere. They are always together to sleep. The favorite is probably the back door. We have a sliding glass door and they look out for awhile and then sleep.

Favorite toy Jacks is a ball and anything that squeaks. Annabelle loves her bone or a rope that she can throw around herself. Oh and our 4 Ragdoll cats, O'Malley, Toulouse, Berlioz', and Marie (We are big Aristocat fans)

We just couldn't imagine life without them. They are fun and hard work on a daily basis. I enjoyed the survey it was fun thinking of how alike and different they both are. Plus maybe I just got the record of longest post on this forum. I feel like it anyway. Thanks for the suggestion Lil Walty, I enjoyed reading about Walter and can't wait to hear about the other sheepies.

Stormi
Names: Shaggy, Blue, Merlin
Ages: 15, 13, 5 months old today!
Breed: OES, Blue Heeler/Lab (OES wannabee) and OES
Sex: Shaggy - never, Blue - never, Merlin- humps everything in sight  (okay enough of my lame humor)
Shaggy is female, and Blue and Merlin are boys
Weight: Shaggy- diminutive and petite a mere 45 pounds, Blue - 55 pounds and Merlin 60 pounds.
Eyes: Shaggy - wall eyes, Blue and Merlin - brown

Medical Problems: Shaggy- age 15 In the past suffered from Immune Deficiancy Thombocytopenia - very few dogs survive she is one of the lucky ones. It required chemo, blood transfusions and meds. Eventually taken off as quality of life was suffering - placed on betacarotene diet of lots of veggies and chicken stew. Made a miraculous recovery (still on the same diet) Plalate count went from 10 (near death to dogs normal count of 185. Now suffers from old age related illnesses - arthritic, fading eyesight and hearing. When adopted orginally from the pound was told she was four months old..turned out after vet exam she was a full grown adult!!! Gasp when I adopted her she then only weighed 25 pounds as an adult!! Very tiny for an OES and resembled a puppy all her life even retaining the mainly dark hair. Previously beaten and starved in her first home - stunted her growth for life I was told by the vet. She didn't have a good start in life but letters of hundreds of school children whom have met here in our "Pet Talks" can attribute to her success story. She is a trooper!

Blue- age 13
- Vet is amazed the appearance of his teeth and coat . She said he resembles a 2 year old. Noticed however a slight incline in his ability the last 6 months...now slowing down and showing more of his age.

Merlin- age 5 months- Yucky! As an afterthought to a vet visit brought a fecal sample. Glad I did, as tho he had been dewormed in the past - probably picked this up from stepping on other dog poop at the offleash dog park and licking his paws (so vet said). One dose of liquid med's zapped them all out...to be repeated by another dose next month.

Behavior problems: None from Shaggy and Blue - well behaved can be taken anywhere and will not try to grab food even if left at their height level. Will "hold it" and never soil in the house. This was not the case in their younger days however but they are now seniors ages 15 and 13 and very docile.

Merlin - counter surfs, terrorizing cats by chasing them (game is spoiled if they don't run) Been caught peeing on the back of the couch! Grrrrr
Barks at vacuum cleaner, opens cupboard with garbage with his big paw. Actually stands on hind legs and retrieves items in the sink especially tupperware, tries to push doors open to the cats room to eat their food, herds Shaggy in the corner.

Personality: Shaggy- Very strong Maternal instinct regardless of what animal was brought home she would protect it at all cost from Blue whom she dominated. Rabbits cuddled with her for their 10 year life span out in the back yard, she would sit beside injured birds, and even as short as 6 months ago cuddled with 2 day old motherless kittens I was given to foster by the Humane Society. She was foster mom to these kittens as much as I was. Later, she allowed the kittens to eat off her plate without a fuss but would growl at Blue if he dared come close. The last 6 months she has been declining in health - spends most of her days sleeping but does a bum wiggle if I take her for her walk. Still has an appetite and no accidents in the house although limited eyesight and hearing.

Blue - Not an OES but a wannabee (felt bad leaving him out) However is also a herder. Gentle soul whom only lives for his ball and food. Very passive dog. Will allow tiny kittens to cuddle with him but has no quilt about bowling them over to steal their food.

Merlin - thinks he's a cute tiny puppy who thinks nothing of jumping on my prone body when relaxing on the couch after a hard days work. Lays across the full lenght of my body like a fur blanket and rest his head against mine. (He looks deflated when I remove him off couch as he hasn't earned this privlidge yet) Plays everyday for 1-2 hours with dog friends of all shapes and sizes at the off leash dog park. Everyone loves Merlin and are patient with his antics. This is a good thing as the offleash dog park is currently very muddy and Merlin loves the mud! Merlin is one of the friendliest dogs at the park and gets along with people and other dogs. The other dog owners like their dogs playing with Merlin - they tell me their dogs sleep after that activity..Merlin does sometimes too.

Behavior problems: Most concerning - counter surfing and emerging Alpha personality - challenging.

Cutest thing: Finding Shaggy and Blue cuddling with small kittens, Shaggy and her volleyball skills and Blue and his ability to retieve balls.

Merlin:
His head tilting and guiltless looks. Most humorous event - Son bragged "Hey mom I just vaccumed the whole house for you, I even emptied the vaccum bag". Walk into house.....Merlin has ripped open the bag....face is black, floor is covered...not a pretty picture. Merlin tilts his head , face dust covered - gives "what's wrong look".
Sometimes I have found Merlin sleeping close to Shaggy..making me race for the camera...never quick enough.

Favorite food:
Shaggy- Spaghetti, Chicken, Pizza and Salmon
Blue - All Food
Merlin- His Kibbles and loves to stick his face in mud and take the occationally nibble .

Favorite Place to sleep:

Shaggy - Wherever I am ( Sleeps most of the day as she's a senior)
Blue- Wherever my son Todd is
Merlin- Living room floor as he can no longer fit on fireplace hearth which was his favorite spot.

Other: Shaggy, Blue and Merlin live with Daisy, Paris, Asia and Lil Girl the four cats. Cats are not impressed with Merlin and give me "that look" ever since I brought him home. They are not entirely quiltless, however, as I swear they have made a secret pact to get him to chase them and jump as high as possible or jump over the baby gates to the off limits rooms for him. (He hasn't figured out he's probably able to jump over the gates.) This is a source of frustration to him...as the off limits rooms are the bedrooms and he sees the cats stretched out comfortably on beds that he has not yet been allowed to go on.

All three dogs are affectionate, goofy and lovable.

Medical problems: epilepsy
Personality: still very energetic, always a clown, non aggressive

Cutest thing ever done: always used to sleep on my coffee table, finally broke him by putting the table away for about 4 months
most mischevious thing ever done: stole a whole pizza from the counter and ate it all (my daughter thought I ate it)

Cute habit: the different noises he makes, he's a talker
Bad habit: jumping to greet visitors (almost under control, he's trying)

Favorite food: Pizza!
Least favorite food: Doesn't have one
Favorite game: Chase the laser pointer, loves to swim, play in snow
Favorite place to sleep: Next to mom's bed

Anything else: Shaggy loves yellow toys - especially big bird. He also thinks hes a lap dog, likes to climb across my lap and go to sleep.
Name: Abbi
Age: 5 years as of Feb. 2004
Weight: 73 pounds (She's at her perfect wt.)
Eye color: both light brown
Dog food use presently: Nutro Max for Large Dogs

Behavior problems: Loves to chase cats. And birds. And rabbits, deer, and squirrels. Will try to pounce on new dogs to get their attention. Isn't afraid of anything, including dogs growling and roughing up their "hackles". Loves to lunge at the storm door and try to get out front to play witht he rest of the kids.
Illnesses: Went lame at 6 months, changed diet(went to adult, low calcium) and she returned to normal. Lost hair on back leg at 1 year, after 22 hour trip from Argentina, it grew back black and is now dark gray. Had horrible reaction to REVOLUTION--which was promptly returned and exchanged for old heartworm preventative. Had auto-immune type response to a set of full vaccinations, including kennel cough. Now never receives more than one vaccination a year (trying to get it where she receives just blood titer confirmation and vaccinations alternating every year). Almost lost her this last Fall to that. She still breaks her nails and wears her back nails down to the pads if she doesn't wear baby booties on our longer neighborhood walks. We have to walk a mile or two a day due to personal illnesses.
Cutest thing ever done: Learned how to beg by bowing (a long stretch in front of you).
Cute habit:Will go get her leash and bow, until she gets a walk or trips you.
Bad habit: Sticking her nose under your hand to get you to pet her -- even while you are eating! Taking grooming equipment and hiding it under couch, carpet, or her paw.

Favorite food: Any meat, cooked or uncooked. Canned or fresh.
Least favorite food: Proin tablets or that hyperallergenic dog food that cost $$$$. :P

Favorite game: Chase with anyone or Find-the-cat-and-run-it-as far-as-possible.
Favorite place to sleep: At my feet or on her carpet by the back door. This is her favorite place to eat her treats and hide things too.

Anything else: Don't try to get Abbi to "show-off" any of her tricks to anyone else if there is: another dog present, a cat in the vicinity, or a young boy or girl around (she's always wanted her own boy. All of my children are girls.) She will not do her tricks even for fresh meat if any of the above distractions are within sight or hearing distance, except maybe the young kids. I have been able to get her to go through her paces with children, but it takes a bit of time and some very yummy treats.
List of tricks to-date: Fetch leash,Find leash, Sit, Stay, Stay for 2 minutes with me 100' away, Fetch from Stay, Speak, Quiet, Come, Come Back, Jump up, Down, Climb up steps and slide down slide, Dance on hind legs, Lay (we use Lie, because she confused with Stay), and Go away (Goes to kennel or mat). Still working on a consistent PAW and Heel. It is very hard to Heel when you are hunting cats! Also working on stay, then go get your food. She does it about half the time now. Rolling over seems to be hard for her to get too. Not one to go to that position very much (on her back).

Just one tip....to Abbi and Shaggy.... I don`t know if you heard about Graviola it `s a natural product that makes your defenses climb very much ...it`s use in most cancer with real good outcomes....maybe you can try it....or Cat`s Claw the hearb...you can find tablets in the drugstores..it really does wonders....(a friend of mine cured his dog that way....if you want more info please send me a PM.
Vero.
Vero,
Thanks for the suggestions. A suggestion for Pisco..... see if there is milk or any spices in his food. Abbi has very loose bowel movements whenever she eats anything with too much milk products in it, raw eggs, onions, or strong herbs like oregeno, basil, or garlic. We eliminated these things from her diet and have never had a problem again. Except when someone comes over and gives her cheese or pizza, or icecream. Once the girls were making pancakes and dropped an egg. They let Abbi clean it up. That's when we found out the effects of raw eggs on her BM's. It was a mess.
Couldn't find Graviola or Cat's Claw at my WalMart Super Center. Guess I will have to look on the web.
Thanks I will check Pisco`s food for all that....
Cat`s claws you can find at the drugstores ...Walgreens or Eckers....When I lived in Miami I found it there.
Graviola you can find thru the web: www.graviola.com
the graviola is a compound of a fruit that is called Guanabana or chirimoya, it grows mainly here in Peru....(also the cat`s claws is from here)...I so wish I could send you guys all the natural stuff that they make here...and has outstanding outcomes on low defenses and Cancer.
Thanks very much for the info! I checked with my pharmacy and while they don't carry cat's claw they told me health food stores do. I really appreciate you telling me about this as the pharmacist highly recommended it too. I'll try to get some this week.

Marianne
You are welcome ....glad I could be of some help.....please I do know about natural hearbs and what they can do...nop not a witch ;) feel free to ask for any that may be good for your family...including these lovely furballs :)

anything else: General pain in the butt, but sooooo damn adoreable and funny. Puppy behaviour is fun to see again but such a large dog, it is easy to forget she is only 4 1/2 months old (its me who forgets)
Hi,

Greetings from Singapore. I recently bought an OES puppy. He is approaching 4 months old. The vet said he is underweight (he is around 11kg now, which is about 24 pounds) but due to how few OES there are in this country, we do not know how much an OES should weigh at different stages of his growing up. I read a few books and searched the web but could only find info on the weight and size of a full grown dog.

Hope that you could offer some advice. Thanks.
Merlin, i would suggest a 4 month old OES should weigh about 40Lb or even more, i need ot check ours, as she is about the same age and is considered to be spot on with size and weight. I will check back later with the data.
Growth charts for puppies is tricky. Even the ones for humans can be very misleading.
Different dogs and genders of dogs mature at different rates.
Male Oes usually grow for longer time spans and get bigger than females.
But females grow larger quicker and stop growth sooner.
Hopefully Bullshot will come back with his data.
In the mean time look over your puppy. Can you see his ribs (you may have to part his hair to look). Can you feel them poking out. Then maybe he needs more weight.
In many studies large dogs who are raised on the light side had less trouble with joint diseases. Also some OES just are not as big as others.
If the dog seems healthy otherwise I would not worry. Enjoy your new pup.
I would along with Carol ...
according to my vet it`s alright.....some large breed dogs are slower to put on weight.
Pisco was 20 lbs(9 kgs) at 2 1/2 months; 14 lbs (30kgs) at 4 months and now at 9 months he is 60 lbs (27 kgs) ...and my vet says he is still growing and putting on weight....he`ll do that until he is 1 1/2 yrs. old.
Vero.
Thanks for all your replies. It seems Merlin is really small compared to all your dogs...I've increased his food intake and am taking him for a couple of regular walks a day. Hopefully the exercise and diet would help him gain some weight. Guess he's small cos he spent over a month at a pet shop and I feel they underfeed them. Plus the small cage he is put into doesn't help much. He has two other littermates still there...too bad I can't take them all home.

The good thing is he seems healthy (the vet confirmed that he looks like he is in good shape) and is active. Spends most of his afternoons irritating my 4-yr old mini Schnauzer.

Do any of you remember how old your dogs were when they had control of their bladders? Merlin seems to go every 1-2 hours...and big puddles too! The only long stretch he doesn't is when he is asleep at night, till about 6am.
Hi,

Here's a picture of Merlin taken last week.[/img]
Are you talking about your avatar? How gorgeous is that? Thanks!
Yup, I was referring to my avatar. Is there any other way I can attach pictures besides using an URL? I intend to put up a website but have not found the time to do so yet...still cleaning after the puddles Merlin leaves behind!
Hi guys ..... talking about avatars..... new picture of Pisco :)
Vero.
Wow, Vero! Is Pisco that leggy, or is the picture a little scrunched?? Holy smokes!
LOL....he is leggy but the picture is scrunched as well.
OK :) ...fixed the picture (avatar)....more like him now.
Phew! I thought you had an 8 foot tall sheepie!

Great shot! Thanks.
Vero, I love your new avatar! I guess you ended up having him trimmed because of the summer heat down there? He is adorable. I love his muzzle.
Merlin is sooo cute with the patched eye!

I am going to have to post some more photos!
he is cute...
but no I never trimmed him ....that`s how his hair always was....just trimmed him around his mouth....my vet says his hair is like that because he is changing it...but will start to grow longer when he gets older....
But for me it`s ok... other sheepie owner here asked me that too...since Ruffus and Paco have both longer hair so I asked my vet and he told me not to worry...anyway he is not a show dog so it doesn`t matter to me...love him just the same.
name: felix
age: 5 months
weight: 52 pounds
eye color: one brown, one light blue

behavior problems: jumping, jumping, and more jumping; normal pup stuff
medical problems: none
personality type: felix loves *everybody*
cutest thing ever done: he's figured out how to jump straight up into the air (all four feet leave the ground at the same time!), and the other day he sprang over the *back* of the sofa and landed right next to me with his head on my shoulder!
most mischievious thing ever done: see above!
cute habit: everything he does. he's unbearably cute.
bad habit: turning important papers into confetti and showering it around the room

favorite food: dirt. and his wellness puppy, especially the apple & yogurt treats. but mainly dirt.
favorite game: chasing or being chased
favorite place to sleep: upside down on his back on the tile floor in the kitchen

anything else: i can't believe this dog is 5 months old, he is enormous! he is the most happy-go-lucky dog i have ever met. he's my first sheepie, and i don't think i'll ever be without a sheepie again!

you can see felix at: http://www.dogster.com/dog_page.php?i=9002
Name: Merlin
Age: 4 months
Weight: 13 kgs
Eye Color: both brown

Favorite sleep spot: under beds

Funniest thing done: He usually sleeps under my bed but there was one afternoon, he decided to hang out with my son in his room. My son's bed is lower than mine, but Merlin, of course, didn't know better. He managed to roll under and took a nap there, but when he decided he had enough, he found he was too big to crawl out! We had to lift the bed to get him out! Now, when he goes there, he only sticks his head under.

Favorite game: share a bone with my mini schnauzer. Bones lie all over the house but Merlin would only be interested in whatever bone Oliver picks up. He likes chasing Oliver and trying to gnaw on the same bone Ol is at. I've some pictures of them sharing a bone.

Sweetest thing: He loves Oliver. Think he looks up to him as a leader so he does whatever he does. After tiring themselves out running around, he would lie beside him and lick him all over. They would even drink together out of the same bowl, two heads side by side. They sleep on the same cushion, though I have to stick half the cushion under the bed for Merlin cos he likes being under the bed. The funny thing is that Oliver is much smaller than Merlin even though he is four years old while Merlin is only four months old!

Personality: Merlin is a cool dude. He is unraved by strangers, new dogs coming up to sniff him, or even squirrels running across his path. He would be lying or sitting down even when people come up to pet him at the playground/park. The only person that gets him excited (besides us when we come home) is Oliver. You should see him perk up when Oliver comes into sight.

Bad habit: likes to eat dirt! Pretends to be sniffing the ground and before you know it, he would be munching on a piece!
Finally getting around to this!

Name: Big Ben
Age: 5 years (in April)
Weight: 65 pounds
Eye color: light blue

Behavior problems: He had nipped Dad recently and growls while eating every once in a while - but all in all he's been a pretty good dog.

Medical problems: None right now! Big Ben had a horrible staph infection resulting from mange when he came to us. It was a long five months of recovery but ever since he's done great. He did break a tooth....who knows what he was chewing on for that to happen. Knowing him and his love for digging it was a rock!

Personality type: Big Ben wants to be the Alpha, sometimes we need to remind him of his place. Otherwise he's very loveable to everyone he meets.

Cutest thing ever done: We've never been prouder of Ben at "Pet Day" - the first graders all bring their pets for a giant outdoor show & tell every spring. Big Ben was the cutest, calmest dog of the day, greeted everyone, smiled and stayed in line for what seemed like an eternity for mom! I'm sure I could think of tons of funny or cute antics but I really think Pet Day was when we really discovered how good of a dog he could be!

Most mischievious thing ever done: At Halloween I had baked two trays of cookies for my daughter to bring to a party. They weren't quite cool enough so I had left them on top of the counter. I came home to about five cookies total between the two trays. I had forgotten about them so they were really stuck on the trays, can't imagine how he managed to get them off the trays without even slightly moving them off the counter! (He also had eaten two witch cupcakes which had the most icing I had ever seen on a cupcake - really bright colors. Needless to say he had a bright green and orange beard for weeks from all the food coloring.) Maybe there was a full moon last Halloween?

Cute habit: If the kids are crying he always has to join in - by howling at the top of his lungs. I'm not sure why he does it but at a time when most parents would be tearing their hair out he makes us laugh hysterically! (It would also make a great Calgon commercial :) )

Bad habits: Picking on the cat, shredding napkins and any other paper he can find, standing right in front of the television when he wants attention and after he is done eating he stands right next to us and licks he chops in our faces - that breath!!

Favorite food: Cat food...very annoying! And if he had his pick of anything in the pantry it would be cheese curls. I wish I could say his dog food or treats, no such luck!

Least favorite food: This doesn't exist!

Favorite game: Tennis ball, the further it is thrown the better.

Favorite place to sleep: In the summer he loves the tile floor in the bathroom, the room is the coldest in the house from the a/c and the tile must feel great. In the winter he has a corner of the dining room where he sleeps on his back.

Anything else: Ben certainly isn't the brightest dog - training was sometimes rough but we've all survived! We are sure he was a result of a puppy mill which makes us sad but we consider him (in a round about way) a rescued dog and he's brought a lot of laughs to our family.

I could just pictur this in my mind ... it made my day!
My little Abbi goes and licks the girls if they are crying, then she comes over to me, like "Mom, go make it better!".
Grizzy howels when my 8 month old cry's

Anyone in favor of moving this SURVEY to the top of this topic, like a sticky, so that anyone who comes here will see it first, say YES!!!!

Name: Admiral Drake
Age: 14 weeks
Weight: 28 lbs
Eye color: Brown

Behavior problems: potty training, jumping on people, begging at the dinner table(thanks to my son), not knowing when to stop at play time, chewing on the ps2 game cords(if it was up to me he could chew up the whole thing and I would give the games to him as snacks),

Medical Problems: none to date

Personality type: big baby that thinks he is the cutest thing in the world(of course he is) never has meet a stranger or dog he does not like. always has to be the center of attention.

Cutest thing he has done: thats hard but if I have to pick one it has to be the way he climbs up on the couch or maybe the way he is afraid of the dark and has to run the last 1/4 of the way home when it is dark. Sorry that was two of course I could have added the way he likes to kick the soccor ball.

Most Mischieviouse thing: has to be pulling the toilet paper off the rolls all through the house

Cute habit: thinking everyone in the world should meet and greet him. My poor neighbors propably have been late to work quit a few times because of this

Bad Habit: waking my kids up way to early in the morning so he can play with them

Favorite food: corned beef we had for St. Pats day he was in heaven

Least Favorite food: Tuna fish sandwich

Favorite game: kicking and chasing the soccor ball and chasing tennis balls

Anything else: Drake is a really smart dog although we are butting our heads on potty training. He can sit, lay down and will drop the ball for me while playing fetch. I am constintly amazed at how much having Drake is like having another child. It is really funny how Drake and the kids pretty muich treat me the same, they love me but are always testing me and their limits 8)
My Vote was Yes too!

That was quick. I think it happened everyone.

That Administrator of ours is SO GOOD! :D
Name :Mitch
Age: 2 years
Eye Color: Brown

Bad Habits: He loves to run between peoples legs when he meets them.Ok when they have trousers on but when they have skirts on he ends up looking up the skirt.

Personality:Loves everyone

Medical Problems:None

Cutest Thing He Has Done: We recently had to look after a 17 week old terrier pup called sally and mitch would lay on his side and sally would lay near his neck and mitch would put his paws around her and cuddle her.

Most Mischievous: Pinching my underwear

Favourite Food: Pizza with garlic sauce

Least Favouite Food: Rice! mitch had a upset stomach when he was a pup and the vet put him on a fish, rice and pasta diet.He was ok with the fish and pasta but when we fed him the rice he gathered it all up into his mouth and ran into our lounge and spit it all over the floor.I think that was him telling us he didn't like rice .

Favourite Game: Throwing toys in the air (himself) and then jumping
up to catch them.
name: Blue
age: 4 months
weight: 30lbs
eye color: One blue, one brown

behavior problems: Just the usual puppy things. She jumps when excited. When there's something - or someone- to distract her, all her training and tricks are forgotton.

medical problems: She has a problem with her bladder and.... ehem... reproductive passage. The bladder is larger at the opening than the other tube so it could be dangerous if I ever decide to breed her. Have to wait a few years til I know for sure. Am still deciding on whether to have her spayed as soon as I can or hold off for a while. My vet's been very helpful and has given me a list of things to look out for to make sure she's not uncomfortable. So far, she's been fine and healthy so I can put the spaying issue on the long finger for a bit.

cute habit: Sniffing my best friend. She just goes to him and makes these great deep sniffing sounds. Especially if he's lying down. He loves it too!

cutest thing ever done: Picked a daffodil from our garden, brought it over to me and put it at my feet. I was very impressed. Our gardener, on the other hand.....!

most mischievious thing ever done: While left unsupervised for a moment at my sister's house, Blue ate my sister's dog's and cat's food. All of it. Then she drank their water. All of it.

bad habit: The 'ol jump-to-greet. Though we're working on that. She also clambers into the car anytime you open the door. If you're in the driver's seat, she'll hop right onto your lap.

favorite food: EVERYTHING! My sister calls her "Noo-Noo" after the vacuum cleaner in Teletubbies. She loves junk food- her favourites are Cadburys' Moro Bars and Tayto Cheese & Onion crisps (potato chips). Her favourite doggie food is Eukanuba, which is great because I just got a present of 35lbs of the stuff in a gigantic neon-pink bin. Love it!!

least favorite food: I've never, ever, found something she doesn't like. Cheese, vegetables, meat, salads, fruit- she loves 'em. She'll happily demolish a bag of grapes or an ice-cream or just about anything else she can get her fluffy paws on.

favorite game: Chasing her tennis ball on the beach. Jumping on her tiny Terrier sister.

favorite place to sleep: On her armchair. She stretches out on her back and cuddles right up to the back of the chair.

anything else: She grunts when happy. I'm her favourite person. So much so that if I'm in the kitchen and she hears my voice, she'll start crying to be let in to see me. If she thinks I'm upset or annoyed, she'll bark. Her favourite thing is to have her belly rubbed. If you say "Sit and I'll rub your belly" she's sit until I say "ok" then she'll turn onto her back for her bellyrub.
I thought about changing my avatar so you all can see Pisco in the water :)
Oh, I just love Pisco's new avatar. What a lucky pup. I live in the midwest and have only been to the beach twice and it was winter. I have never been in an ocean. What a cutie he is! Thanks! :D Stormi and co.
Name:Maxwell
Age:9 months
Weight:53 pounds
Brown Eyes

Medical Problems: Had "growing pains" right after I got him at 16 weeks. Had those for over 3weeks (missed time with him when he was small)

Cutest Thing Ever done: Thats a tough one, there are some many things to remember and pick from

Most Mischievious Thing ever done: We locked his doggy door one day because he was making a mess of my porch, and he moved the stuff blocking it then poked his nose in all the pannels and tore the screens.

Cute Habit: Tilting his head when you talk to him.

Bad Habit: Digging in my laundry basket for underwear and socks.

Favorite Food; I'd actually say snacks, and dog food. Idon't fee him people food so I don't know. I once put peanut butter in his braided bone while I groomed him, but he had no interest.

Favorite Game:
Ball by far. He can play that for hours on end.

Favorite place to sleep: Next to my bed or in the bathroom next to the shower and toilet.
See, I knew I should come and read the new entries. I did not know that any dog wouldn't like Tuna fish or rice. I learned something ... Abbi gobbles both up like they are the food of gods.
Vero, I love your new avatar...sorrry I took so long to say so.
And I loved:

Nooonoo the vacumm cleaner, I had forgotten about that. I am still smiling... :)
Hope everyone is having a good dog day!
I have to laugh at all these stories about what our favorite OES' eat. Last night my husband dropped a pickle chip and Big Ben ate it. My husband was surprised...can you imagine that? There has never been a second thought in my head that Ben will eat anything and everything. My husband thought maybe, just maybe, a pickle would be rejected. Silly, silly dad!

NAME: Truman

AGE: 14 months

WEIGHT: 62 lbs

EYES: Brown

PERSONALITY: Fun-loving goofball who loves everyone!

CUTEST THING HE DOES: Lays on his back wiggles his butt and sticks his legs straight up in the air! We crack up when he does this!

MOST MISCHIEVIOUSTHING(S): Shredding toilet paper (preferably a FULL roll), dragging shoes out of the closet and tearing out the cushioned inserts, destroying my spice rack along with the spices, I could go on forever....

CUTE HABIT: Runs around with his squeeker toy, a stuffed gingerbread man, squeeking like a maniac - eek, eek, eek, eek, eek - endlessly until we tell him, "Truman - good boy! You got him!"

BAD HABIT: Torments Riley, the cat. He wants to play or give him a bath. Riley does NOT want to participate in either activity!

FAVORITE FOOD: Ice cubes! He has been known to help himself from the freezer. Also, the cat's food. This does not sit well with the cat...

LEAST FAVORITE: Bananas

FAVORITE GAME: Racing around the yard with a stick in his mouth saying "chase me, chase me - you can't catch me! Na na na na na."

FAVORITE PLACE TO SLEEP: In his crate, even when we leave the door open.
Name: O. Henry a/k/a Little Boo and Pooh Butt (for obvious reasons)
Age: 3 years (he was delivered to the SPCA on April Fool’s Day 2001 so I made that his official birthday)
Weight: 85lbs
Eye color: Gorgeous big blue eyes

Behavior problems: For Henry this answer will be shorter if stated postively: when is Henry well-behaved? The moment between his seeing a treat and receiving that treat he behaves perfectly, he sits, stays, whatever he is told. Also he is well-behaved when he is sleeping. Othewise, he jumps on my friends when they come to visit, mouths everything and everyone, and still has the occasional house-breaking accidents.

Medical problems: Henry has had flea allergies, kennel cough, mange (demodex (sp?) mites), and giardia. All cured now.

His only current problem is a sensitive tummy that results in one or two days of diarrhea a week.

Cute habits: Every morning and every night when Henry is fed he does a happy dance. He jumps for joy, all four feet leave the ground, he bounces, and he makes a soft woofing sound. This ends with him throwing himself on his bed – “Bed” is his command to lie down on his bed where he waits to be fed.

His other cute habit is that when we play tug he often pulls the toy right out of my hands. He is such a gentleman he brings the toy over to me and stands still waiting until I have a tight grip on it before we start the game again.

Bad habits: Barking his fool head off in the car, pulling me off me feet every time we see another dog on our walks, and lunging at passing cars on our walks.

Favorite food: Everything but carrots. I haven’t found anything else he doesn’t eat. I love it that everyone else has mentioned dirt as a favorite food -- Henry loves dirt too.

Least favorite food: Carrots. Someone else posted that her dog loves carrots and she goes through many pounds a week. I never feed Henry when I am cooking even though he is right behind me the whole time sniffing and trying to get some food. One day I was cutting baby carrots and one fell on the floor. Rather than rewash it, I gave it to Henry. Poor baby looked betrayed. How could I give him something that didn’t taste wonderful. He walked around for about 5 minutes with this little bit of orange carrot sticking straight out of his mouth. Eventually he dropped it and walked away.

Favorite game: Tug. He has a rope toy that we tug with. He sits under the shelf where it is kept looking back and forth at it then me to let me know when it is time to start the game. He has not learned that we never play tug when he asks, even though he is asking nicely. Since it is an aggressive game, I always initiate and end the game.

There is a great deal of discussion about whether or not to play tug with a dog. Since Henry loves it so much I decided to go ahead. He learned two critical lessons playing tug that many rescue dogs seem to need to learn: 1) he learned to not put his teeth on me. In the beginning, he chomped down on the toy and my fingers indiscriminately. He learned (slowly) that any tooth contact meant the end of the game--we still have occasional accidents but he is sooo much better; 2) he learned not to be afraid of being close to me. When I got Henry, if I put my face near his he was not happy and he would snap at me. I don’t think he had spent time with people, certainly he was not trained or socialized how to behave. I thought the biting was excitement and fear combined, not just fear. Now I can be very close, in fact I kiss his nose while we are playing and he is perfectly okay with it.

Favorite place to sleep: He sleeps with his butt up against the fireplace nice and warm, tummy on the tile hearth nice and cool, and head on the carpet nice and soft.

Anything else: Best bath story: the week I got Henry I decided we needed to make sure that baths were a regular part of his routine. I enticed into the tub with treats, gave him a short rinse while he tried to nose the glass doors open and whimpered, I gave him lots of praise and treats, then let him out. Since he was desparate to get out I assumed I had traumatized him and he would never get into the tub again. A minute later, he jumped back in the tub and just stood there looking at me. I think he was saying, “that was fun, let’s do it again!”

The Sheepie Hop!
name: Norman, Carl
age: 11, 1
weight: 95 Pounds, 65 Pounds
eye color: brownx2

behavior problems: Norman seems to be the perfect sheepdog. He only barks at Carl to discipline him.
Carl on the other hand...

cutest thing ever done: Carl will lay beside you and then put his head on your chest or neck so that all you can see is his big giant nose. Norman likes to rub his head on the furniture so that his hair gets messed up and then will nudge you so that you check out his "Flock of Seagulls" hairdo.

most mischievious thing ever done: Carl seems to think our cat is a moving stuffed animal. He likes to "sneak" (He's not fooling anybody) up on the cat and then pounce on him. When the cat starts yelling he jumps back and acts completely innocent.

cute habit: They both pose until you look at them and then when you awe or remark they look like they are smiling.

bad habit: Carl never used to jump up on people until he went to obedience class. They were teaching what to do when your dog jumps and now he does it all the time. He also steals socks.

favorite food: carrots and peanut butter

least favorite food: They seem very confused by lettuce

favorite game: Tugging is high competition in our house. Sometimes one will lay down with the rope and the other will pull him around.

favorite place to sleep: Beside the sliding glass door.

anything else: They love attention. If there are people around and people aren't paying attention to them, they become very put-off.
Sheepies to the bone! I love the part about sneaking up on the cats! Abbi does that with Angela.
And they learned to jump on people at obedience class! That is just too good.

Maybe you should reteach the jumping as a commanded feat of prowess by saying UP! and when they jump up coo over them and give a treat.

Then, after they do that without hesitation, teach them DOWN. Anytime you have not asked them to go UP, push them DOWN (while saying DOWN, of course). The minute it looks like they are going up, say DOWN and hold out your hand.
Then add Stay Down! Then when they come running at you all muddy from a romp on the wild side, you can scream """NO, NO, I mean, STAY DOWN!" And if you are really quick about it , it might actually keep them down.

Can you tell I have been there ....
The jumping thing was annoying for a while especially since my husband thought it was really funny and started calling him up. We've trained around it and now when you tap on your chest he stands up and puts his paws on your elbows. Carl is almost as tall as I am and I'm 5'7".
Fanastic! We had to train abbi to react to the UP and DowN commands for similiar reasons.
But now days she will only go UP for me ... don't know why? She also will only gives me kisses. I have her doing it only on the side of my face ... did it with peanut butter.
She will not always do her tricks for everybody though. I have been working on that lately. They all seem so unique!
This has got to be one of my favorite post to read. What a great idea you had Lil Walty's mom!!!! I love hearing about the personalities of all of the furballs and their families that visit here. Always leaves a smile on my face. A personal thanks from me as I love hearing about them all.

Marianne

I love the Flock of Seagulls description. Henry does this too, particularly after a bath -- all the furniture gets soaked.
name: Tung Tung
alias: Tungby, Fatboy, baby and late in life, Mingus (after the foul tempered Jazz great)
age: 14 and a half. Arrived in June 89 - Departed in September 04
weight: between 30 kg to 35
eye color: Bowie eyes. Pale Blue on the left and Dark Brown on the right

behavior problems: The Alpha of all alpha dogs! Jealous of anybody that diverts Mum's attention, including dad
medical problems: tick fever when he was 10, arthritis and rotted tooth when he was 12, finally sccumbing to a stroke when he was 14
personality type: considers himself the world's greatest kisser/licker. energetic young man who ripened to a grumpy old dawg

cutest thing ever done: too many to mention but one that stood out was mistaking a neighbour's Shiz Tzu for his motorised soft toy and freaking out when jumped onto his owner's lap!
most mischievious thing ever done: the list goes on. the most embrassing (for elby) was when he "nudged" a sleeping Pom off a park bench with his nose so he can have it to himself! Another classic was when pulled off his leash and ran straight into the back a baker's deliver van and helped himself to some fresh sweet buns.
cute habit: sleeping on his back and "air walking". going bonkers after his bath. Always forgetting where his hides his toys
bad habit: the world's biggest doorstop, for some reason he absolutely refused to let us blow dry his right side! Being very very Alpha towards dad (who's a wimp!), Humping (when he was young) female two leggeds with short hair. Hogging the bed, no matter how big it is, he'll find a way to hog the whole thing. Freaking out during thunderstorms.

favorite food: cheese, chicken, his annual bday 8oz striploin, treats, occasional pizza crust, ice cream, rice
least favorite food: Hill's Science Diet for Seniors (no matter what we add into it). his medicine
favorite game: hide and seek, chase, tug and his soft toys
favorite place to sleep: wherever mum and dad sleeps, until he got arthritis, whereby we laid the floor of our living room with mattresses. (we are forever indebted to tung's auntie, elby's sister, for helping out with daily mattress airing/washing duties during his last 6 months.)

anything else: sometimes after woofing down his food too quick, tung would vomit, knowing the mum and dad would clean the mess up as soon as they see it -- and not wanting to see the "used food" go to waste, he would always hide it in places that is "inconspicuious", yet easily accessible-- namely as underneath mum and dad's pillows or the cushions on the sofa!

We miss our boy
Roy, Elby,

Well you got my happy tears a running again. What a wonderful, mischievious puppy Tung Tung was. Thank you for sharing all his wonderful attributes into a terrific tribute for him. My favorite is getting into the back of the Bakers's truck.
name: Pithy (meaning energetic)
age: 2 years old
weight: about 55 pounds
eye color: brown

behavior problems: jumping on people when greeted and digging in flower bed.

cutest thing ever done: It is truly hard to narrow it down!! But, the first time we had family stay with us, my brother was sleeping in the living room. Pithy must have found this unusual, because she kept waking me up and herding me downstairs to show me that someone was sleeping down there. When I would get down there, she would sit by him and tilt her head intently, as if to say, "What is he doing here? I usually sleep down here alone!!"

most mischievious thing ever done: Pithy got into 2 dozen red-frosted cupcakes that my daughter had made for her class! She couldn't eat them in the kitchen though... she had to drag them into the living room where there is a permanent red stain on our cream carpet. I call it our "crime scene!" The interesting thing is that she left two cupcakes.... I guess 22 was enough to satisfy her sweet tooth!!

cute habit: Pithy follows me from room to room, bringing something from the previous room with her. She also has a certain "special" spot in every room where she places herself comfortably and follows me with her eyes.... head usually laying flat on the foor!

bad habit: Taking dishes out of the sink when nobody is looking and licking off the remnants!!

favorite food: treats or rawhide

least favorite food: lettuce and spinach

favorite game: Tugging on a rope or taking a sock and having me or the kids or our Bassett chase her around the house!!!

favorite place to sleep: Pithy will low crawl under our bed to catch a snooze. We are only able to see her nose and a paw!!!

anything else: She loves to have her ears scratched!!! And, When Pithy fluffs her hair all up by rubbing it on the floor, we call her "Rod Stewart!"
name: Jake
age: 6 months
weight: 56 pounds (vet says he is the right weight for his size)
eye color: brown

behavior problems: Trying to hump the legs of anybody that visits the house.
medical problems: rejected his stiches after being snipped but we got through that, at the moment he has a slight ear infection
personality type: super hyper dog, will go on and on and on, even when everybody and every dog is shattered he will still be the last one standing.

cutest thing ever done: something different every day...last night Jake decided he needed a racing course around the house so he ran through the kitchen, through the lounge, through the hall, turned round, back into the lounge, jumped up on the sofa at such a speed that it bounced him back off again and then ran back into the kitchen. This lasted for 10 minutes
most mischievious thing ever done: Chewing my boots and then trying to hide them by putting them under his bed and laying on it. He would not move for ages.
cute habit: smilling when I start to tickle his armpits...it starts off with a belly rub and then once I go for the armpits he just giggles (if that's possible).
bad habit: 1) Barking 2)Every morning when I'm ready for work he will run up the stairs and try and hide....every morning without fail.

favorite food: cheese, dirt, stones, boots, socks
least favorite food: I haven't found one yet
favorite game: tug, chase me and fetch (I throw the ball, he chases it, I fetch it)
favorite place to sleep: on the kitchen floor where it is cool

anything else: Jake thinks everybody loves him, and most people do

Name: Tasia Hills Dancing Light aka "Dancer"

DOB: December 23,2003
Age: 16 weeks 6 days 10 hours and 50 mins...lol
Weight: hangon lemme check..... 24 lbs
Eyes: beautiful brown

Behaviour problems: trying to pull on my sons pant leg everytime he walks by...lol...

Medical problems: doesn't eat enough, but otherwise healthy and growing

Personality type: This one could take forever as she is such a character! She is loving, sweet, funny, protective, and the smartest pup I have ever met!

Cutest thing ever done: everything she does is cute! Am I obsessed or what? LOL But if I had to pick one I would say when I ask her to go get her toy, she goes and gets ALL of them (about 9 or 10 bears, balls and bones etc) and bounces back to me to drop them at my feet.

Most michevious thing ever done: She is a thief. She loves to steal things. Anything, as long as she knows you are looking, and she does it so fast you can't help but laugh and she dives right past you, grabbing anything she can and running like mad. Then she sits and waits for you to go get it. She has me trained well.....

Cute habit: She sleeps pn my bed curled up close to me, and will drag around her"blankie"which is one of my fuzzy arctic fleece shirts with her.

Bad habit: loves to torment the cat. Winston is the cleanest cat I have ever known, so you can imagine his distaste at big sloppy dog kisses whenever Dancer gets the chance

Favorite food: the sauce in zoodles
Least Fave food: eukanuba
Favorite game: she's a puppy, almost everything is a game....

Fave place to sleep: curled up against my chest in bed

Other: Not fond of thunderstorms, I have yet to convince her that no one is trying to break into the house.
Quote:

Too cute. At my doggie daycare there is an affliction they call "Henry Head." This happens when Henry has a big drink of water then licks the head of every dog he can leaving the tops of their heads soaking wet and looking very punk with their wet hair standing straight up.

lol,

roy and elby
(dang! forgot to login!)
Doggie daycare? We have no such thing in our area, sounds neat. I think I would be worried that my baby girl would bond too much with someone else, lol,.... but it's a great idea, then it would be so much better for the dog to stick to routines, especially during housetraining so that nothing interferes with it.
When I first got Henry, it was not clear he had ever seen another dog up close. He needed socialization badly. As I work all day, at first I had someone come to my home to walk him at mid-day but that didn't help with dog socialization. I heard about a dog day care and kennel. I checked them out and love the people. They play with the dogs all day in fenced play yards -- no more than 5 dogs at a time and they get to know who likes whom pretty quickly. When he is not in the play yard he is in a kennel alone (this is important -- some kennels put more than one unfamiliar dogs in a kennel. Do not send your dog to a place that does this. The dogs can fight and hurt, even kill, one another.) In addition to meeting other dogs, he got plenty of exercise and didn't spend the day sleeping--great news for the new mom of a one year old sheepie. He still goes about 2 days a week, and is so excited each and every time. Also, when I travel I have a place to leave him that he loves and I trust.

He still gets thrilled enough to pull me over when he sees other dogs on our morning runs ....
Name: Annie

Age: 1 yr. 10 mos.

Weight: about 55 lbs.

Eyes: one blue, one browm

Behavioral problems: peeing on the rugs. Other than that, none. Really.

Medical problems: Diagnosed with a intrahepatic portosystemic liver shunt. Been through surgery, but needs to remain on prescription dog food and low protein diet for life. Low protein has lead to problems healing, growing hair, late tooth developement, slowed clotting, smaller size and low weight. Must be fed 3 smaller feedings per day so as not to over tax her liver.

Behavior: She is very sweet, submissive with other dogs, but just LOVES people! Has good energy most of the time, in spite of the medical issues. Does not beg food, and gets no people food, except an occasional piece of cheese in her bowl. Likes to be chased when she has a toy. Travels like a pro in the car, going on long trips.

Favorite place to sleep: On my side of the bed, until I tell her to move to the bottom! Also displays that sheepie-typical sleeping position: on her back, legs stretched out, and WIDE open! Very unlady-like!

Favorite things: swimming in the pool, any treats, stuffed animals( which don't stay stuffed), her human brothers, visitors( although she barks at people who walk by her house and don't stop to pet her)
Well it's about time that I post about Panda but I was waiting until more of his personality emerged.

Panda

Age three and one half, white head with huge grey circles around his eyes.

Background: Rescued all the way from Hong Kong and flown to Vancouver thanks to some kind hearted souls that cared enough about him to step up when they saw him living his life in a metal cage and only let out for 20 mins each week.

Personality: Gentlest dog in the world, loves affection even does a whole body wiggle when greeting anyone , woman, kids and men. Loves to sigh loudly and place his head on my lap and gaze adoringly up at me.
Friendly with other dogs and cats too! Loves to play ball, no matter what the size. Loves to leap high into the air to hit a bouncy ball on his nose so it goes back to whom ever threw it. A favorite with everyone at the dog park whom often remark he's so laidback and has fit so well with all the dogs and people. Has never shown any aggression. Will never go after another dogs ball at the dog park and will even relenquish his own if another dog takes it without seeming concerned. Has always greeted both small and large dogs with his little stub wiggling. Panda has never had an accident in the house since the day I brought him home.

Has always come immediately when called, can sit, down and stay always does it on first command. Eager to please.

Bad Habits: Only has one that can be considered annoying- likes to chase cars within the car. Will whip his head around and bark like crazy at passing vehicles.

Medical: Has a scar which is just become noticable since his hair is now starting to grow back. It wasn't noticable before ironically, when his hair was super short as it was whispy on his snout. Have noticed a 1 inch scar running along his nose up to his snout. Makes me sad trying to guess how he got it. (Reports were he was beaten with sticks at the puppy mill where he was kept) I'm suspecting he may have some blindness in his left eye as it was not noticable before but I saw it a bit opaque looking when the sun shone on it on a particular angle. He frequently seems to miss where a ball went if it's thrown far. (Will have this checked out this week) Panda does not run as fast as the average OES. I suspect this was as a result of having grown up on a roof top of an apartment building in Hong Kong and his long stay in the cage.

Likes: Loves his food. Has a fondness for Paris the grey cat whom rolls on his back whenever he sees Panda and then they touch noses. Loves water and is often reprimanded for sitting in the fishpond. Really loves his green turtle plastic pool. Favorite thing in the world for Panda is his daily visits to the offleash dog park. Immediately jumps into the van and waits until it's time to go. Panda rides in the cargo area due to his lunging and barking at passing cars. Merlin sits on the seat behind me- both know their places in the van. Loves to curl up beside me and have belly rubs or pats on the head.

Lives with Merlin and Blue, the dogs and Paris, Asia, Daisy and Lil Girl the cats.
Name - Fancy Name : Ottaba True Love
His Name: Jedd

Age: 1yr 4 months

Colour - White and Grey

Eyes - Wall Eyed (1 blue 1 brown)

Weight - 32 kilos

Food - anything we eat and anything else we give him except oranges. He's particularly fond of almonds, pork chops and the pasta Paul cooks.

Favourite game: Rugby League - he runs with the ball we tackle
Soccer - we kick he chases
Xhase the turkey - turkey comes out of the scrub - he chases!!!

Behaviour: Exceptional when he wants it to be. He's somewhat stubborn when it comes to coming inside when he thinks he should be up the paddocks. Hasn't made a puddle or mess in the house since he was three months old. Loves the VET and will allow Vets and groomers to do anything they like to him without a fuss.

Bad Habits: Chasing the duck. She flaps, he thinks she wants to play.

Most Endearing Trait: His absolute and total unconditional love for everyone and everything (except the scrub turkeys) There's nothing like waking up to a big slobbery lick across the chops at 5 am. Just before the alarm he slips up onto the bed and lies between us until we start to stir, then it's SLURP! to the left and SLURP! to the right and lie on the back with all four legs in the air for a good morning hug.

Favourite Place: Several - down on the river on the pontoon boat, in the pool in summer, behind Dad's chair in the office, on Dad's lap in front of the TV during the football and cuddled up next to a loving body anywhere anytime.

I've had OES before, but our boy is exceptional - he's a talker too - has quite an understandable vocabulary. As my Buddhist friend said, 'he's an old soul, he just hasn't realised yet that he's come back as a dog!'

Cheers

Chris

NAME: Chelsea (just Chelsea for now) she also has nicknames; Chuppy,
(which leads to "Chuppity Uppety Buppety" - the command
for coming up the stairs into the house)and Shaggy (of course!)

AGE: 10 months
WEIGHT: 65lbs and growing
EYES: brown with puppy eyeliner

BACKGROUND: We obtained her in December of 2003, we had to drive pretty far out of the city on a Friday night after work, I remember driving home in a light snow, and hearing the sound of a nine year old little boy snuggling with a sleeping puppy in the back seat all the way home- life had come full circle for us.

BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS: Jumping, nipping, aggression, barking, the usual beligerance.

MEDICAL PROBLEMS: Sensitive tummy, still figuring it out.

PERSONALITY: Chelsea is very girlish, she' a little princess, a little dainty for an OES. She is sensistive but very smart. Not very independent and a little too timid to qualify as 'curious'. She plays to win. She doesn't listen too well either. BUT, she is very affectionate, and very passionate about her family. She loves her toys, her chews, and she always wants to be included.

CUTEST THING SHE'S EVER DONE: So far the cutest thing yet was when she was a tiny puppy and first came to live with us, she would sit or stand in front of a full length morror in the hallway and try to play with the puppy on the other side, she would bring toys over and drop them for that other puppy, she would sit and watch the other puppy, and sometimes she would peek around the corner to see if she could catch the other puppy 'off guard', eventually she tried to lick and bite the other puppy. The hard surface of the mirror always surprised her and she would yip at the mirror in frustration. She still catches her reflection sometimes as she runs by and stops to check on that other puppy, but she has sort of figured out that other puppy can't play with her. We have a picture of her watching the other puppy that I should post some day!

MOST MISCHIEVIOUS: There is a new one in this category every day, but so far nabbing un-ripe tomatoes off of the tomato plant and running around with them in her mouth is one, pulling towels off the towel bar is another, drinking out of people's glasses that are left at her level, eating dirt out of the housplant pots, one time she removed all of the bedding from my bed while I was in the bathroom and was laying on top of the pile on the floor, guess she wasn't comfotable enough on the rug! Then ther is stealing bread off of the countertop, removing all of the batting from her quilt, and my personal favorite pulling tissues out of the tissue box.

BAD HABITS: Chelsea likes to eat her poop. But we've managed to just about cure her of this, she also likes to drink out of the toilet, and she chews on the bottom step.

FAVORITE FOOD: Well she does eat her Nutro like a good girl, but when that's gone she would just as soon be eating grass, leaves, tomatoes, dirt, and anything we are eating. SHE is however not interested in mushrooms, olives, or pickles. The only thing that makes her crazy though is lemon cake or pound cake. That's my girl!

FAVORITE GAME: Frisbee! And 'get your butt', when I say this we tear around the house with me chasing her, around tables and through rooms, when I catch her she's "it", then she chases me around the house until we both collapse! It's a great rainy day game.

FAVORITE SLEEPING SPOT: Anywhere we are or in her crate.

FAVORITE TOY: Anything soft that squeaks, we have had many in a few short months, there have been (2 ) Reginald the Ram (she ripped his head off- twice) and (2) Ferdinand the Frog (she ripped his leg off-
twice) and pukey the bunge alligator, he got so filthy he needed to be buried, and now we have Marvin the Mole, he has no distinguishing features that can be ripped off, so we are hoping he will live a while longer.
name: Tyler Joe
age: 11 years old
weight: 70 lbs
eye color: the most beautiful brown eyes

behavior problems: Dog aggressive, so I just keep him away from dogs that are not OES

medical problems: at his age, arthritis, cataracts, hardening of the larynx. But with care and meds you would never know anything was wrong. In fact, I wish he would let me know when he hurts.

personality type: Very laid back, a pleaser, always wants to make sure I am happy, not highly active now, but when I got him at 4yrs of age, much more active

cutest thing ever done: Shortly after we first adopted him I was sitting in a large leather chair and he came up to me and climbed in my lap and just stayed there. I feel it was a defining moment of our relationship.

most mischievous thing ever done: When he wants to play he will take something that belongs to you and parade around in front of you to get your attention

cute habit: comes back to bed after my husband feeds him in the morning. Kind of like he is flaunting that he ate and I haven’t.

bad habit: not liking dogs

favorite food: Anything I am cooking, he waits in the dinning room until I invite him into the kitchen. He eats carrots, cauliflower and apples, just about anything I eat he eats. He loves the ice out of my iced coffee in the summer months. Big water drinker.

least favorite food: Pickles mushrooms and Jello

favorite game: Belly rubs, his not mine

favorite place to sleep: on our bed between our feet, closer to me and uses me as a chin rest.

anything else: Tyler is the best companion I could want. I have had dogs all my life and I think of each and every one of them all the time, but I am afraid that Tyler is my one true doggie soul mate. We will see, I will continue being a guardian to the OES breed.

I will do Kieras bio later...

Eye colour: Byron has beautiful deep brown eyes and Jimmy has black black ones...;p

Behaviour problems: Not much except that when Mum or Dad gets home, he pounces like crazy on us. Extremely lazy, visitors usually mistaken Byron for a sloth after their 'freshness' runs out and Byron returns to sleep again... :?

Medical Problems: None so far for Byron, heart murmur and hearing problems for the old timer though

Personality type: Smart but lazy fella. Always knows how to take shortcuts and acts dumb to try and get himself out of trouble. Is lost without mum and dad. He'd never survive out if he ever gets lost. *Touch wood* 8O

We have absolutely no IDEA what Jimmy is doing everytime that happens. :?:

Most people thinks he looks like a furry turtle. Grumbles when he sees his food / food meant for him left on the table and tells you he is hungry by either grumbling, whining or pawing at you while in a perfect Sit! posture. Also sleeps with all four legs in the air on his back. Will nudge you when he hears the oven toaster rings in the morning cus that means his breakfast muffins are ready.

Bad habit: Only does tricks when there's food involved. Slowly sneaks up stealthily to the second floor everytime he does something wrong thinking that he's small enuff not to be seen  . Kinda cute actually! ;p

Fave food: Muffins, cakes, grilled salmon/fish, turkey and basically just anything that looks delicious and smells good.

Least fave food: Plain kibbles.

Boy, where do I start on this one? I had a lot of fun reading these--not only is it cute to read about all the different personalities, it's also really neat to see a lot of the same behaviors. It kinda makes you see how they're all sort of "cut from the same mold"! Now I don't feel so bad about my accidents-in-the-house, poop-eating, into everything, little monster. :D

names:Fancy name: Leopold Butters Stotch (after the South Park character who has a similar personality) but we call him Clyde (OES) and Lucy (7 year old Bearded Collie)-- I have to introduce her too because so many of Clyde's adventures include her now!
age: 5 months
weight: 45 lbs. He's doubled in weight from a month ago. If this continues he should be about 1,000 pounds by next year at this time.
eye color: brown
behavior problems: Can't seem to give an audible signal when he needs to go outside. He'll sit by the back door for about 10 seconds before he gets impatient and just goes if I don't make it to the door in time. He's also an occasional poop eater and beats the heck out of Lucy, even though she's still about 20 pounds heavier and much taller. Like one of the other posts, he also loves to drag her around by the collar. I had to switch her back to the buckle kind since he kept stretching them out.
medical problems: We had a bit of a scare when we first got him that he had JRD. After thorough testing, it turns out that he just LOVES to drink water in a way that we humans will never understand. We've had to limit him (with vet approval) otherwise we'd never be able to housetrain.
personality type: Very lovable, loves being a lapdog. Very calm for a puppy-- when Lucy isn't around. They feed off of each other. If we take him out to someone's house, he'll sit peacefully and nap in one spot for hours. As soon as he gets home, he's all over her. He's rejuvenated her, though-- I've never seen her so happy and active. She's like a puppy again-- at least what I picture her to be as a puppy, I rescued her as an adult so I'll never really know.
cutest/mischevious thing ever done: Where do I start? He's so clumsy and silly, he does so many funny things. My latest favorite: I've been sick with pneumonia for the last 2 weeks so I haven't been able to chase him around as much. However, I don't like the idea of crating him all day if I'm home so I keep him on a leash next to me. Well, I must've dozed off and the leash slipped off my wrist because when I woke up, he was lying on his back in the living room, wrapped up like a mummy in toilet paper, which was still attached to the roll in the bathroom on the other side of the house. It was a huge mess but it made me laugh and I really needed that pick-me-up!
funniest habit: He just learned how stairs work. The first few days, all he could do was go up. Now he's also learned to go down but he's still apprehensive so the way he goes down is one of the funniest things I've seen. You'd swear he was 90 years old and handicapped the way he moves his body. Then about 4 steps from the bottom,he becomes Superman and takes a flying leap to the landing-- no matter who might be in the way.
favorite game: chasing Lucy around the house at breakneck speeds. He MUST cover every inch of the house once he starts running too-- whether Lucy is still there or not. He cannot be stopped. Once they are too tired to run, both of their herding instincts kick in and they try to herd each other just around the dining room table.
anything else All around, he's so much fun. He's brought so much to the household. I'm so happy to see Lucy playing and having a good time-- initially, I got him more for her than any other reason. I was worried she was lonely but she's never been very good with other dogs so I didn't know what to expect. From the first night, they got along great. Lucy's very curious and loves to sniff other dogs and since he was a puppy, he put up with it a lot better than other adult dogs that we had introduced her to before. Also, his size was a plus because we didn't have to worry about her dominating a little tiny thing. Once she got that out the way, she didn't mind him at all. I'd even call them friends now :)

By the way, a warning to all as I begin to post, I have a hard time shutting up once I get talking, especially about the dogs. They're my kids (don't have and don't really want real ones) so I'm sorry if I'm too much of one of those annoying parents!
I loved reading your post! He sounds like a doll.... the south park name is a hoot...lol
name: Jasper
age: 13 weeks
weight: nearly 23 pounds 3 weeks ago
eye color: one blue, one brown

behavior problems: hyper? lol He's a good dog. Hard to keep inside the house & chases the cat. He barks A LOT!
medical problems: nothing so far
personality type: hyper, energetic, playful, curious, loving, lap dog at times too

cutest thing ever done: He's still new to the family so everything is still cute, lol I guess seeing him herd the boys around the yard, it's hilarious to watch and they love it..
cute habit: he looks at you and cocks his head to the side - it's just adorable
bad habit: drinking out of toilet (yuck!), chasing cat, barking
favorite food: he really only eats his kibble. He's had chocolate by accident and liked it, but I know that's a no-no
least favorite food: he doesn't like biscuits
favorite game: he's starting to play fetch (kinda...he catches the ball and takes off running - lol)
favorite place to sleep: under our bed

anything else: We've only had him a few weeks, but he has been a perfect fit for our family. We just can't imagine our life without him now. Looking forward to the next dozen or so years with him and his adventures!
Name: Maggie McGee IV
Age: 12-1/2 yrs
Weight: 75 lbs.
Eyes: Brown
Adopted us: 10 years ago when former humans were moving to an apartment
Medical problems: Age-related arthritis & cataracts. Some nerve damage to the right side of her face where vet said she was probably dropped when she was a puppy. Causes lots of splashing when drinking from her dish due to her tongue being deformed.

We adopted Maggie through a lead from friends who rescued any and every sheepie they learned about. (they had 8 at the time!). We knew our 13 yr. old "Mr. Winston" was slowing down and couldn't bear the thought of all the things that go along with the loss of a beloved pet.

It was so exciting going to meet her. We met our friend and followed them to pick Maggie up. We were a bit startled and somewhat disappointed to see a cleanly-shaved gray and white "hound-dog". Apparently her previous owners did not give her the care she deserved as she had some sores on her ear flaps. I'm sure her people felt they needed to do a quick clean-up job if they were going to be able to find her a new home, a shave was the quick solution. Never fear! We were familiar with the buzz-cut look and fell in love in a heartbeat. Her people quickly packed up her things and sent us all on our way. They didn't even seem to be all that upset to see her go. On the walk to the car, Maggie decided she preferred to go with our friends in their Rolls Royce rather than with us in our Honda Accord. Once we got that straightened out we were on our way home. She was a perfect angel in the car, secured with her car harness that she never rides without.

When we got home Mr. Winston was less than happy to see the interloper. Maggie was a bit intimidated by the grouchy old man. She immediately went over to his bed, squatted on it and peed a river. Then she made herself at home in the recliner and fell asleep. No wonder those two never became good friends!

Winston found Maggie an annoyance. He had ruled the roost for years and all of a sudden here's this young pain-in-the-butt. He lived another six months after Maggie's arrival and passed away of pneumonia, complications of old age and years of dealing with Cushing's disease. I doubt he ever forgave her for whizzing on his bed.

Maggie is slowing down now that she is advancing in age but still loves to ride in the car. Every Sunday she knows that it's "family night" and she gets to go along, usually for chicken nuggets at Wendy's. Somehow she just KNOWS what day it is. On vacations we make four or five 11 hr. trips to Myrtle Beach every year and she's great in the car. Except for a year or so phase where she would not stop barking in the car! Other than that, she's been wonderful on the road but once we get to the beach, forgettaboutit. She hates water! Even the bathtub is terrifying, just the opposite of Mr. Winston, who could paddle around for hours.

As I read some posts from all of you sheepie-parents I find it amazing how some of our babies are so similar yet other so totally opposite. Love hearing about all of them! 8)
Name: Our Lady Isaura (Izzie)

Personality type : Sensitive, sweet, cuddly, loving- need I say more!
Bad habit : Asking for too many treats -

Izzie loves to give hugs and makes this sound while doing so. She holds hands when just sitting around-likes to be where ever we are. Helps with the dishes-wel actually she's no help at all but don't tell her that..she just likes to watch by putting her front paws up on the counter and looking into the sink. She knows when it is time for my son to come home from school and ill wait at the door around 3pm everyday. I will let her out on the front step and she will sit there waiting until she sees him come up the street. Izzies loves watching TV and when a dog comes on, she sticks her nose up on the tv until it is gone. The she looks around the wall unit wondering where it went...She make us laught many times in a day...We can't imagine life without her as she has become such a big part of it. Oh I will stop now!! LOL :D

I see this has been going on for awhile but I'm at work and board so decided I'd add my 2 cents :D

Name:Tasker (after the buffalo bills football player-blame my son)
Age: 8
WGT: Tasker ranges from 97 lbs in the winter to 91 in the summer
EYES:Brown
Behavior problem: He jumps on vistors, wants to get to "eye level:
Medical Problems: We've had more than our share. At 3 months of age I was moving and he got into rat poisen that required lengthy treatment. He has CHRONIC ear infections in one ear (6 or 7 a year) and has actually had ear surgery; He dislocated his shoulder jumping through the bedroom window cause he wanted to play with some kids outside; He has had several GI bleeds as a result of stress on his body from ear infections. He has a VERY delicate stomach the slightest change in diet or anything food other than lamb and rice gives him diarrhea. He has LOTS of allergies. I think I single handedly paid for my VETS last new car.
Personality: Tasker is one of the kindest gentlest dogs I have ever known. He is very laid back and loves small animals and children :D
Cutest thing he does: Tasker gives "love nibbles" to people he really likes. He will place his front teeth against you arm or head or anywhere he can reach and do this little nibbly thing that tickles like crazy. It's quite an honor to be given a Tasker nibble, a true sign
that he accepts and loves you.
Most Mischievious: Every since he was very small Tasker has had a total obsession with scrunchies!!!!!!!!! He steals them from counters and drawers and EVEN TAKES THEM RIGHT OFF YOUR HEAD. When my daughter was a teenager she had to warn her girlfriends that wearing a scrunchie in our house wasn't safe!!
Cutest Habit: When you are sitting on the couch Tasker has to be touching some part of your body, he will lay on the floor and put his head on your foot or lap or if you are laying on the couch he'll lay in this very awkward position so that his body in on the floor but his head is ON YOURS!!!
BAD HABIT:Getting in the GARBAGE
Favorite Food: Because of his very delicate stomach Tasker gets ONLY dog food.
Sleep: He sleeps in his bed on the floor on MY side of the bed :D

Tasker is an absolute delight and I ADORE HIM. We have gone through some difficult times over the years and there were times when having him to come home to was what it took to get me through. He is totally tuned in to how I feel. When he was about 4 I had a very bad car accident, when I came home from the hospital everyone wanted me to kennel him until I was better. I refused and from the moment I walked in the house until I was 100% better he never once jumped bumped or hurt me. I was in bed for a long time and he would very carefully get up on the bed without jarring me and lay full length next to me all day without touching me. It was the most amazing thing I have ever had an animal do. I have had other dogs in my life but never one who felt sooo human!!! I could go on for pages about how much I love this dog but from reading the post that you all have shared I know that you understand.
He sounds like a sweetheart.... it's too bad he has had so many health problems.... it must be so difficult.... but at least he is happy and sounds so well cared for, that even with medical problems from time to time his quality of life sounds wonderful. :) What they give to us can have no pricetag in my opinion.
NAME: Maggie Mae
AGE: just over one year
WEIGHT: 67 lbs
EYES: blue blue blue!

BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS: barking at everything, excessive licking, counter surfing
MEDICAL PROBLEMS: broke her leg at 3 months and then again at 4 months (all before we had time to get her health insurance), gentle stomack (only with dog food, not people food)
PERSONALITY: Maggie is the happiest dog ever. She either looks confused or she is smiling. She's an absolute love, and she's got the most spectacular eyes. She's a bit dim (to say the least) but she is sooooo sweet and gorgeous and happy that I couldn't care less.
CUTEST THING SHE'S EVER DONE: For X-mas we gave her one of those HUGE bones that's like 5 feet long. Well, once she finally figured out how to carry it in her mouth, she would spend 5 minutes straight trying to get it through the doorway, bumping into it, backing up, and then trying again. We just sat there watching and laughing, and she had no idea.
MOST MISCHIEVOUS: she loves to go counter surfing. We've semi gotten that under control, but she still loves to steal things off the front of the refridgerator.
CUTEST HABIT: every sheepdog we've had has been like this: I guess because of the hot Kansas weather, she goes and takes a nap right on top of the vent. She has all the vents in the house mapped out, and it's a guarentee you'll find her on one at any given opportunity
FAVORITE FOOD: anything that I'm eating
LEAST FAVORITE: bananas, unless another dog is eating it, and then she has to have it
FAVORITE TOY: any ball, especially squeaky balls. She'll carry them in her mouth, drop them, and accidentally kick them, so she goes running after it
FAVORITE SLEEPING SPOT: either on a vent or in the bathroom. I guess the tile keeps her cool.
FAVORITE GAME: team fetch: Marty leads her to the ball and then she picks it up and walks around with it. I guess it's not fetch because she doesn't always bring it back, but it's definately a team effort
Wow, how did I manage to miss this! What a great thread. It's amazing what you find here on the Forum when you're having a slow day at work

Name: Bailey Excalibur
Age: 5 1/2 months
Weight: 54 pounds
Eye color: brown

Behavior problems: Not too many! Nips to get your attention occasionally. Doesn't take the word "come" too seriously.
Medical problems: None. Currently recovering from his neutering and an umbilical hernia surgery like a trooper.
Personality type: Fun, fun, fun. Loves to play, fetch, run around like a maniac. Will perform a wide variety of tricks in exchange for treats. Affectionate toward people and dogs. Champion napper when the playing and performing wear him out.

Cutest thing ever done: He still sleeps with the tiny little squeaky toy that he had at the breeder's house.
Most mischievious thing ever done: The first time we left him home alone for a few hours he figured out how to jump out of his pen, figured out how to climb the stairs for the first time, and hid on us. I nearly had heart failure when I came home and couldn't find him!
Cute habit: Makes the most adorable sound when he stretches during a nap - hard to describe the sound but it's definitely an "All's right with my world" kind of noise.
Bad habit: Nipping me when he wants my attention, barking at 5:45am every day (just doesn't understand the concept of weekend), taking used paper products out of the bathroom trashcans.
Favorite food: Iam's Smart Puppy, peanut butter, dirt
Least favorite food: We don't feed him people food (except for the peanut butter I put on his Kong and on his medication) so he hasn't developed any likes/dislikes.
Favorite game: My husband will make growling noises at him which causes Bailey to run wildly around the first floor of the house then come back to crouch down and taunt my husband again until he makes more growling noises. Repeat until husband is exhausted. Also loves to fetch tennis balls in the yard, splash wildly at the water bowl, chase the birds outside.
Favorite place to sleep: On the cool tile floor outside my office so he can keep an eye on me.

Anything else: Totally motivated by treats. A little jealous, he thinks he should be in the middle of all affectionate moments. Still a bit freaked out by the pool as a result of his one swimming lesson.
Name: Bentley
Age: 2 1/2 years
Weight: Around 90 pounds
Eye color: brown

Behavior problems: He's perfect around me, but gets possessed by some kind of tasmanian devil demon any time someone else is around. Leaping, bounding, barking with happiness. *sigh* we're working on that.
Medical problems: None other than super sensitive skin.
Personality type: Just a big hyper clown.

Cutest thing ever done: He still has all of his toys I bought him when he was 8 weeks old. Unfortunately my new dog is toy destroyer, so I'm now having to replace many of them. But Bentley still loves toys and will curl up with several of them to sleep. He also twists up like a pretzel to fit on a dog bed that's much too small for him.
Most mischievious thing ever done: I can't think of anything. He's so well-behaved and wouldn't dare do something he's not supposed to (except for excitedly mowing people over when he first meets them)
Cute habit: He goes through all of the commands he knows BEFORE I tell him to do them. Example. If I say "you want a treat?" Before I can say "sit" he'll sit AND speak and offer to shake, lol.
Bad habit: Just the excitement over new people. Poor guy doesn't know how big he is.
Favorite food: Cooked ground turkey. Mother hubbard dogs treats. Peanut butter.
Least favorite food: None that I know of
Favorite game: Just playing fetch. He'll push a big fuzzy slobbery toy into my face until I give in and throw it. He could do that all day.
Favorite place to sleep: Beside wherever I am. Right now he's pretzel twisted on his little bed beside my desk. Sometimes he sleeps in the bed with me, and sometimes on the rug beside the bed.

Anything else: He'll sit in the backyard and watch me work with the horses. If a horse gets to close to me, he'll start barking like a maniac. But immediately quiets down when I tell him to. Yesterday a horse bumped into me and I thought Bentley would come unglued. It's a good thing though, since I live alone. If I were ever hurt, the neighbors would probably eventually call the police about the annoying barking dog.
LOL... he sounds wonderful, and what a smart boy! :)
What a sweet pup he sounds like!!
Name:Mopsey
Age:15 months
Eye color:gorgeous sky blue, with long eye lashes and eye liner!
Weight:48 pounds
Behavior problems:barks too much, jumps baby gates, chews things she shouldn't,jumps on people
medical problems:nothing now but broke her front tooth(had to be pulled)so much for beauty!!
had hook worm when rescued

personality: a love bug, mother to our 11 month old lab, happy go lucky, fearful at times of seemingly silly things!!

cutest thing she does: totally stratch out her body on her belly. She loves to go on the hammock with us.

worse things she has done: pooped up on the counter in the kitchen,
ate oil paints and brushes and was very colorful!!

Favorite food: dog treats, peanut butter

favorite place to sleep: someones bedroom

favorite thing to do: run, run and jump, and pounce on our other dog!!
Jan, did you say pooped on the kitchen counter?? 8O How in the world? should I not even ask?? :?
Well we didn't see her do it but we found a poop on the island in the kitchen, we know our lab doesn't jump so, it was miss Mopsey, we have seen her on the counter before, she would climb up on her crate then up on the island, she hasn't done it in months, wow couldn't believe it!! she had very bad habits when we rescued her.
Jan .. thats really gross...but really funny...one very agile dog!!
name: Zippy the Pinhead, but we just call her Zippy
age: about 11 1/2
weight: not sure but she's slightly smaller than the avg sheepie
eye color: beautiful brown

behavior problems: steals underwear, barks at anyone walking down the street
medical problems: her joints hurt her sometimes, but nothing serious that I am aware of
personality type: very loving, enjoys attention, likes to play and act silly, loves just about every person she meets

cutest thing ever done: sometimes when she's sitting she'll stretch and put her head back like she's howling at the sky, but she just makes a stretching noise like "errrrrrr" and sometimes her ears will go back as well and be straight out. I hope everyone can picture that because it's so cute when she does it!
most mischievious thing ever done: After being told NOT to go in the garbage, by daddy, about half an hour later, she tried to again, while daddy was in the kitchen! Like he wasn't going to see her lol
cute habit: she bounces around like a goofball when she needs to go out
bad habit: she licks a lot. Given a chance she will just lick whatever human body part is closest to her tongue, feet, hands, arms, heads.... just lick lick lick. It drives me nuts. o_O

favorite food: meatballs
least favorite food: unknown
favorite game: moshing, and playing with her stuffed Barneys (she has two identical Barneys)
favorite place to sleep:sofa or mommy and daddy's bed

anything else: my family got her when she was a year and a half old, and I remember my brother was about a year old so it would have been summer 1995. I kept her when my mom moved to Arizona in 2002, and after I graduated high school, she stayed with my dad until last November when I was finally able to have her live with me (as I moved away to go to school).
Bubba aka bubba boy, wubby
11 1/2 years

Just a little update on Bubba. It took some time to get to know him before we could fill this out
weight about 75 lbs the vet says this is a good wieght for him

He has the most lovely brown eyes you have ever seen

No behavior problems what so ever. He is the best behaved boy ever. But He doesnt like his feet groomed/trimmed.

He is a little slow to move with his hips but is doing pretty good. He is on glucosamine and tonight we are starting DGP (Doge Gone Pain) an herbal remedy we should know if it will work in about 3-4 days.

He has been to the doggie dentist. 6 teeth needed to be pulled and the rest were cleaned. His breath is MUCH better too!!! And he has made a full recovery. yay! Awesome vet clinic in Fallon NV . I stayed with him the whole time watched everything. It was very interesting. Sat down with him during recovery. My son even got to keep a few of his teeth. Boys!!

He is so sweet. Lays on the couch next to me all the time. But now with the hot weather we stay in the room with the cooler and he is right beside me. Loves to have attention. In fact he will demand it. Wet beard and all.

Cutest thing ever done. Wait for my son to move from the couch so he can get on it before Corey comes back. This usually involves my son running down the hall and jumping on the couch but is too late. Bubba is already comfy. He has decided that I need to wake up at 6 every morning. He is fed watered and let outside for a few minutes plus a bunch of cuddles. As soon as I try to go back to sleep he barks till I get up and pet him some more. So I get up go sit on the couch for about 30 minutes then he is done goes back to the bedroom (where the cooler is) and goes to sleep, with me left wide awake on the couch.
Almost forgot , I am not aloud to use the facilities alone. Bubba knows that is his time.

Fav food: almost anything on my plate. Loves ground turkey necks. (I run them through the grinder for him because of his teeth) When he had his teeth pulled it was boiled chicken with rice and broth in the blender. Everybody had to have some it was so good.
It took maybe 2 weeks till he learned that begging for food works at his new home (sorry Pam I know bad habit).

Least fav food doesnt like any melon of any kind. The girls are glad they dont have to share.

All in all he is the best boy ever. If you are thinking about rescue don't forget the older boys. They are the BEST!

Weight: Not sure, need to check, but big, that's for sure!

Eye Color: Brown

Behavior Problems: Gets too excited, jumps up, goes crazy with running, growling, barking at mealtimes, New bad habit: peeing in the snow on the deck--not good! Trying to herd us, chasing the cats. Drinking too much and then puking (although getting better)

Medical Issues: Hip Dysplasia, chewing on paws (not really a med issue, but sort of)

Cute Habits: Always has to sit with a body part touching you, loves his stuffed animals and herds them all into one spot on his blanket, following me around the kitchen as I cook, his after-meal outdoor routine--must go out and pee immediately, then will run like mad around the yard a few times, then go poop, then run like mad a few times, then come flying up the deck stairs and circle the patio table a few times (at full speed), then he's ready to come in.

Bad Habits: Jumping up, the occasional pee in the house, chewing on himself, drinking too much then puking!

Favorite Food: We don't feed him anything but his dog food and cottage cheese (with occasional dog treats), so I don't really know. He has eaten a banana (likes it, I think), he has eaten a few tortilla chips (likes them, I think)

Favorite Game: Chase the cats, run run run, chew on bones

Favorite Toy: Right now, either his rawhide bones, or his stuffed Shrek (or the tiny cat toys (little stuffed mice) that he knows he's not allowed to have because he might eat them!)

Anything else: Anyone who's read this forum knows Barney has come with his many challenges, but he has such a good heart and is the sweetest dog that he is so fun to have (and getting better all the time, now that he isn't quite so puppy-crazy)

Least Favorite Food: Nothing that I know of--maybe his kibble without the cottage cheese

Bad Habits: Trying to sleeping in Mommy's spot, Barking, stamping her feet when Mommy gets on the phone, flinging her food bowl when empty, emptying the bathroom garbage, eating qtips, saying hello by goosing you, always has to be first, making Mommy lift my BIG BUTT into the truck when I am lazy, Not letting Mom brush me or put my hair up. Will just come in the backdoor from outside and will run to the front door to go back out again! I don't have to worry about her running off, she stays very close to home. Will bark at anything new, I believe she sees shadows and until she get used to new items in the house she will bark or back away from them. If I am on the computer for too long, she will nudge her nose under my left arm to let me know it's time to show her some attention.

Hi everyone I'm only new here and I'm Jean from Australia.
name: Sammy
age: 8 months
weight: 30kg (I think that's about 64 pounds)
eye color: brown

behavior problems: Crying when I have to leave him home, generally I take him with me but with the heat here at present it's not possible, but he is getting better.
cutest thing ever done: When my husband gets home from work Sammy will follow him into the bedroom to make sure that he puts the carkeys away
cute habit: giving me kisses before he settles down for sleep at night (he sleeps beside my bed)
bad habit: Jumping up to greet strangers
favorite food: Dried pigs ears
favorite game: Loves soccer and chase, he will bring the soccer ball to us to let us know he wants to play
favorite place to sleep: If it's night then beside my bed, if it's day then on the tiles in the laundry

anything else: Sammy is the second OLE that I've had the first was a rescue dog, I've ordered a female OLE so that Sammy has a friend and have also put my name down for a resuce dog, thankfully I've got plenty of room.
Welcome, Jean! Can't wait to hear more about your wonderful pooch and see pictures. Please post soon!
Hi Jean, I'm lisa from Australia, YAY another aussie, welcome.

What does OLE stand for? Is it just Old English or something else?
name: Benjamin
age: 9 months
weight: not sure (but he is 30 in X 30 in)
eye color: Hazel

behavior problems: No Problems just normal OES stuff
medical problems: none
personality type: energetic, playful and extreamly attached
cutest thing ever done: he is constantly cute
most mischievious thing ever done: he opened up my sons Christmas gifts in the early morning and drug them outside in the dirt!
cute habit: he talks to me when he wants attention, if I playfully ignore him he will play growl and flop his big paws on me
bad habit: jumping to greet people
favorite food: the cat food
least favorite food: none, he is a living garbage disposale
favorite game: soccer
favorite place to sleep: in the walkin shower

anything else: Ben is the kindest pup I have every known, he loves dirt and water and my children.

Once Ben and my 3 year old Micah, were outside playing; I was in the house and I could hear belly laughs comming from my son, he had me laughing just the same, when they both came to the back door to come inside...I realized that my boys (2 legged and 4 legged) thought that they had died and gone to heaven....apparently my son thought it would be fun to have a dirt fight with Ben and he was right! When they came to the door covered from head to toe in filth, they both had grins on their faces, which told me that they had found best friends in one another.
names: Archie, Sophie, Sherman

age: 7 yrs, 4 1/2 months, 4 1/2 months

weight: 85 lbs, 39 lbs, 44 lbs (at 4 month check up)

eye color: brown, wall eye, blue

behavior problems: Mmm, not behaving? Seriously, separately, they're all perfect, or nearly so. Together? They egg each other on, as in Mom's calling, so 2 of the 3 start to come, but notice the third (usually Sophie) ignoring Mom, which suddenly seems to be an excellent idea. But we're working on it. As for more serious problems, Archie wants to protect his parents from the affection of any dog outside our family. He's just fine accepting the puppies getting their share of affection, but he will insert himself between me and any other dog unless I correct it. Sophie seems to have adopted the attitude that her dad is, well, hers, something I am dissuading her from. She's willful, and stubborn, and very, very cute. She's willing to behave and accept that I'm alpha to her, but I have to remind her often of that fact. Sherman is simply born to be omega. He adores Archie, and his sister and will follow either anywhere.

cutest thing ever done: This changes daily. Every day, they are so cute. They love running to greet whoever comes home. They love their friends, doggy and human.

bad habit: Selective hearing (Archie), willful disobedience (Sophie) and Sherman--eating my brand new shoes, a habit which he seems to have gotten over. Of course, I haven't brought home any new shoes for the last month, either.

favorite food: Whatever someone else is having at the moment, thank you.

least favorite food: If I find one, I'll let you know. Sherman is especially food oriented.

favorite game: Archie loves chase; Sophie likes to play with balls or reasonable facimiles; Sherman likes puddles, the muddier the better. They all enjoy sprinklers and romping. Sophie and Sherman play king of the hill, their own version. When one decides s/he has won, they announce it by leaping from the couch to the chair where one of their parent is sitting, and then bouncing to the floor. If it weren't for the fact that they're getting so much bigger, you'd almost not notice, it's so fast.

favorite place to sleep: On the tile of the bathroom or doorway, on these hot days; at night, they try for bed with parents, but don't get it, so they settle down on the floor. None of them has ever liked sleeping on a dog bed, and I've tried several different ones.

anything else: I'm really proud of Archie, who was the young pup to our beloved Merlin, who died last January. We're used to thinking of him as a silly goofball (Merlin was very smart and very dignified as he got older)--see the picture of him with his tongue hanging out. He's really stepped up and accepted the puppies and is taking his role as teacher/mentor very seriously. All 3 are very good with children of all ages/sizes, and with other dogs. Sophie and Sherman are coming along nicely in their training, but definitely both have a stubborn streak and need to be reminded that it's humans in charge around here. Biggest challenge: potty training, which has never been an issue before, and giving them all enough attention, cause, you know, it's never enough.
How have I missed this one?!

name: Masquerade Alice Acres Madness aka "Chewie"

age: 5 months (born 4/15/06)

weight: 48 lbs.

eye color: warm brown

behavior problems: not much, actually. We catch ourselves saying "he's such a GOOD puppy." He seems to catch onto things quick. He also got a good start from his breeders - we got him at almost 4 mos old. He listens, and loves attention. He even sleeps on the grooming table during brushing.

cutest thing ever done: just being a puppy and OES! We like the frog pose - laying all stretched out.

bad habit: collecting toys, then leaving them on the floor for humans to step, trip on.

favorite food: He isn't horribly food oriented, but he loves Petco "cookie" treats and any chew treat - he's teething. He loves his yogurt on his dog food.

least favorite food: Haven't found that yet.

favorite games: Running outside with the other dogs. Going out to the barn to "help" with chores. Riding in the car. He also loves to lick Riley's (rat terrier) ears - like he's grooming him.

favorite place to sleep: On the tile surround of the wood stove - however he learned that the stove gets warm now that we've had some cold weather. Otherwise, any cool surface is good. He sleeps at night in his crate, and likes it.

anything else: We are loving every minute of having a BABY sheepie around again. It has been 10 yrs since a puppy OES at our house. (there have been other pups though!) Chewie is named for Star Wars - his dad Luke is Shaggy Bears Skywalker. We hoped we hadn't cursed ourselves by naming him Chewie. So far, it's been OK - just normal puppy chewing. Chewie started obedience class last week and we are planning on doing so many fun things with him - herding, obedience, rally, agility, therapy dog work. He is going to be one busy puppy!!
name: Duchess of Barkley (Duchess)
age: 18 months
weight: 61 pounds
eye color: brown

behavior problems: Well, I don't know so much that it's a problem, but she ALWAYS has to sleep with me, and cuddle with me, and jump into my lap. She thinks she is still 14 pounds (like when I brought her home), so to her it's not a big deal to take up the whole bed!! hahaha.
medical problems: No medical problems
personality type: very affectionate, and loves to run and play.

cutest thing ever done: Every time I talk to her, she cocks her head to one side like she is really listening to me :)
most mischievious thing ever done: She has taken to chewing on my husband's sneakers when we go out somewhere, and he is not wearing them... guess she is saying she doesn't want us to be able to leave.
cute habit: when she sighs... deep breath in.... big breath out, and she sounds like a horse... hahaha!
bad habit: gets overly excited when people come over... wants to jump all over them and be a friendly hostess.

favorite food: anything I'm eating... pig ears... anything made with potatoes (for some odd reason).
least favorite food: haven't found one yet
favorite game: fetch
favorite place to sleep:between my husband and myself on our bed

anything else: debating whether to breed her or not? she is now in her second "season" and since she's not "show dog" quality, I'm wondering if there are enough OES lovers out there to take on her puppies if I were to breed her. I would like to... because I would love to have one of her babies around... but I'm still thinking about it.
Lets see...where to begin:
Name: Samantha No! Not really but she hears "Samantha, no!' so often that she must believe her name is two words.
Age: In her mind - 6 months. By our calendar - 2yrs, 4 mos.
Weight: 63 pounds. However, after being on my lap for an hour, much more.
Eyes: Two lovely brown eyes that make me melt.
Behavior Problems: Being a whirling dervish. She does not have an "off" switch. Not even a "slow" button.
Medical Problems: Sam was misdiagnosed as needing a TPLO. In the middle of the surgery, the vet noticed that he had been reading the wrong xray (Don't get me started).
Personality Problems: Loves everyone and wants to help by providing tongue baths!
Cutest Thing Ever Done: Climbs up on our birdbath and sits in the water while all her feathered friends delight in stealing her hair for nesting.
Most Mischievious Thing Ever Done: We were saying grace over a Sunday meal and while our heads were bowed, she stole the roast.
Cute Habit: Always seems to sense when we need cheering up. She woggles her ears, cocks her head to the side, squints up her eyes and smiles at us.
Bad Habits: See above about the birdbath. Chasing animals she sees on our television.
Favorite Food: Anything originally intended for human consumption.
Least Favorite Eats: Pills, vitamins, etc. We hide them in hotdogs, treats or pizza and after she eats the good part, she spits the pill out.
Favorite Game: Chase her brother; chase the neighbor cats; chase the shadows, whatever...
Favorite Place To Sleep: On her back in the bathtub while snoring like a jet engine. How un-ladylike...
Anything Else: One night my spouse kept hitting me in bed trying to wake me up. After being severely beaten a few times, I woke up enough to ask whats going on. I was told to stop snoring so loudly. Turns out, Samantha was sleeping on the floor beside my side of the bed. She was the one making all the racket! My spouse laughed...I was not amused.
Simm your post cracked me up! Thanks for the chuckle!
:D

name: Portage
age: 10 and a bit
weight: 98 pounds

behavior problems: none really....but he is very anxious, so loud noises on tv (when the surround sound is on) and thunderstorms cause him great stress. When his brother passed away (and for a while before that when he was very ill) he started messing in the house. Since our new pup has arrived that's been much better. Poor thing. He's got such a sensitive soul.

medical problems: none really...we found out during an emergency surgery that he has a liver condition - nodular hyperplasia. The emergency vet had never seen it before, and thought it was cancer. (My heart stopped at that word!) and asked us if we wanted to continue with the surgery (he'd knocked over a food bin, binged and bloated so he was at the emergency vet and opened up to remove the food and release the pressure...I'm very grateful we made it in time. A few minutes more and the damage might have been irreversible. It was a week before he ate again, and we thought we might still lose him.) Anyway, we went ahead with the surgery and two weeks later she called to let us know that it was benign. Our vet says he can live indefinitely with it, and no one dies from it. We now know to avoid any meds that are hard on his liver.

personality type: submissive, and a little anxious. He was very used to standing safely behind his brother ThePas (we lost him in March), who feared nothing and owned the world (in a good way).

cutest thing ever done: any and every time he looks at you with those big eyes. Our vet has declared him to have the kindest face of any dog he's ever met. And you cannot say no to those eyes.

most mischievious thing ever done: hmm....that's not really who he is, however, he LOVES to lay himself down on a pillow, so when you get up at night to use the bathroom you pretty much need to take your pillow along, or he'll sneak up and curl up on it. He'll very nicely give the spot back to you when you ask, but who has the heart to move someone who looks so cute?

cute habit: The pillow stealing thing...

bad habit: stepping on our feet. He does it all the time, and at 98 pounds IT HURTS!

favorite food: Carrots...carrots...carrots. Followed closely by apples, and then ice cubes.

least favorite food: bananas. But he'll eat them anyway and makes the most horrible faces. It's cute.

favorite game: Stealing mommy or daddy's pillow.

favorite place to sleep: again, on mommy or daddy's pillow.

anything else: Truly the world's most gentle beast.

name: Hudson
age: 12 weeks
weight: 13 pounds
eye color: very dark brown, almost black

behavior problems: He's a terminal puppy. Bites everything, chews everything, jumps on everything, never stops or rests...

medical problems: none so far, knock wood

personality type: evil (okay, I'm hoping that will fade as time goes on)

cutest thing ever done: He's a puppy. It's all cute, or at least that's what I keep telling myself.)

most mischievious thing ever done: shredded my plants, pooped on the carpet, stole a steel toed boot that was significantly bigger than he is...

cute habit: takes great pride in being a stick collector, no rather, the supreme stick collector of the world.

bad habit: steals EVERYTHING and bites toes

favorite food: so far, his kibble. He's a little unsure of new foods. Probably thinks that since he's so bad we're just trying to poison him so we can get some sleep. He did taste an apple without too much carrying on.

least favorite food: won't touch a carrot...which makes me kind of sad since all our boys have always loved them.

favorite game: bite mommy's toes (fingers, ankles, wrists, nose, knees, calves, ears, hair, bottom, tummy, you get the idea...)

favorite place to sleep: only in his crate for very short times, and only under duress. I don't think he would EVER choose to sleep. In fact, I suspect if he WOULD sleep he'd be much less evil. I cling to the hope that one day it'll catch up to him and he'll conk out for a very peaceful week.

anything else: Thank goodness he's cute, because he's not winning people over with his sweetness or nice personality yet! But he's a sheepdog, so there's no doubt in my mind that he WILL be great. Eventually...

most mischievious thing ever done: chewed a lot of the woodwork when a puppy

cute habit: when my son (9) and I are laughing she HAS to jump between us, look from me, then to him, as if to say "What? TELL ME!".

bad habit: nipping us to hurry us out the door before walks (I can stop her immediately, but she'll still try it quite often)

favorite games: sheepdog fetch (=herd the ball, protect it, never give it back) and running on hills

favorite place to sleep: on my bed, next to the window; on the bathroom tile if it's hot outside

MOST MISCHEIVIOUS THING- she torn apart many of the corn stalks out of our garen & had fun eating the roots!!! (picture of her doing this is currently in my avatar!)
CUTE HABITS- sleeping on her back in our old easy-chair (she's pretty much claimed it, but we don't mind, as long as it keeps her off of our brand-new sofa!) She still doesn't know how to travel up & down the stairs! She kind of flops herself down them & is very hesitant while climbing up them! She also is very clumsy in the easy-chair, falling out of it a lot because she doesn't pay attention- just slides off the side of it!!!
BAD HABITS- chewing up my son's toys & getting into the garbage

FAVORITE FOOD

BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS- Luna is a resource guarder. But she is greatly improved since we got her.
MEDICAL PROBLEMS- none so far (fingers crossed)
PERSONALITY TYPE- Luna is just the sweetest thing; she's docile and soft-spoken
CUTEST THING SHE EVER DID- the day I picked her out; there were 2 litters of puppies and Luna's was younger by 5 days. The older litter was brought for me to pick from; and Tonks climbed into my lap. I was sure I had my dog. But then Luna, from across the room, got on her hind legs (she was only 2+ weeks old) and yelped at me until I came to her enclosure. I put my fingers through the x-pen, and she licked them all over. I asked if she could be brought out for me to see as well, and she staggered across the floor, walked around a pile of squirmy playful puppies, and climbed into my lap next to Tonks and fell asleep. I thank Luna every day for not letting me leave that house without her!!!
MOST MISCHEIVIOUS THING- Luna's no trouble-maker. But I think its funny that she always comes to get me to let me know when Tonks has been naughty!!!
CUTE HABITS- she'll carry a shoe or a slipper around the house oh so gently, and then lick them until they are soaking wet.
BAD HABITS- Luna was fighting with Tonks pretty badly. But we've grown past it, I think.

FAVORITE FOOD
- Luna likes all food pretty equally.
LEAST FAVORITE FOOD- see above
FAVORITE GAME- wrestling with Tonks
FAVORITE PLACE TO SLEEP- the sofa; especially if she can pile all the throw pillows up to rest her head on. She's such a princess!

weight: about 55 pounds
eye color: one blue, one brown

behavior problems: She is normally good, except she has this habit of nipping, not in an agressive way, just sometimes likes to take a nip or bite at my shirt, pants, or whatever. I'll post a real intro on the main intro page, but here's our survey;

Name: Bentley (male) & Zoey (female)
Age: 5 years & 7 months
Weight: 80 pounds & 55 pounds
Eye color: Bentley has one brown and one blue eye. Zoey’s eyes are both brown
Behavior problems: Bentley is convinced he’s in charge and Zoey is a puppy… need I say more?
Medical problems: None.
Personality type: Both are pretty fun loving but Bentley has an aggressive streak when feeling neglected. Both are always ready for a good run, not so much just a walk! Bentley loves to cuddle while Zoey prefers to chew on anything she can find, except for her toys.
Cutest thing ever done: Bentley sleeps on his back most of the time with all four paws in the air. When he wants to go somewhere with you he will grab your arm or herd you in the direction he wants you to go. When Zoey wants to play, she’ll stand on her hind legs and will swing with her front paws, like a bear. And it is most cute to watch them wrestle together.
Most mischievous thing ever done: Bentley seeks out my wife’s plastic clothes hangers. Zoey is a puppy, what DOESN’T she do that’s mischievous? Lately she has been pulling dishes out of the kitchen sink and chewing on anything plastic. Also, I have a large collection of Vans shoes that she’s been watching a little too closely…
Cute habit: Bentley’s sleeping habit and Zoey knows when she’s been bad. She rolls over on her back at the first moment that she’s been spotted after doing something wrong, regardless of where she is.
Bad habit: They both jump on people that are new to them. Bentley is still disagreeable about going into his kennel when told. Zoey is still a puppy… Notice a trend here?
Favorite food: String cheese, & sticks!!!
Least favorite food: Nothing yet…
Favorite game: like to call it ‘Let daddy chase me around the back yard when it’s time to go in and make daddy late!!! They’re both really good at this game.
Favorite place to sleep: In the middle of ANY walkway!!! We also have a big green overstuffed chair that used to be ‘MY’ chair. Used to be mine…
Anything else: We adopted both dogs within a two month period. Bentley came in first followed by Zoey. Bentley was already showing his aggressiveness towards us regarding doing things that he didn’t want to do. When Zoey showed up, he made it clear that he didn’t approve. After spending one day at home with the pair, my wife had the two of them walking around the house without bloodshed. Now a month later, things are going VERY well.

name: Zoe
age: 8 months
weight: 50? lbs. (So far!)
eye color: 1 brown, 1 half brown, half blue. :)

behavior problems: She's QUITE stubborn. Worst habits are jumping on guests, barking when there's nothing wrong, ( i think she just likes attention  ) and jumping on counters and chewing things up when i'm not home.

medical problems: Nothing yet. :)

personality type: extremely energetic and playful. Thrives on attention, has to be center of attention constantly. Also very loving and devoted. Cuddles and loves and hugs all the time. :)

cutest thing ever done: I had a really rough night a few weeks ago. Broke up with my boyfriend of 8 months. Zoe's known him as long as she's known me. I was pretty upset and went to bed, forgetting to put her in her crate. she jumped in bed with me and proceeded to cuddle and lay with me the whole night. I would unconsciously move and she would move too, to make sure we were still touching. I love that dog.

most mischievious thing ever done: She's recently gone through a, "I need to chew on anything and everything I can get my paws on" stage. including pens, makeup, pictures, and even my bible!

cute habit: I taught her how to high five. and she's not just shaking up high, she knows the difference between the two. I can put my hand up and say, HIGH FIVE ZOE! and she'll do it. SO smart. Also, whenever I hold her hand or have her shake she bends he nails in like she's actually trying to hold my hand. I've heard it's a breed thing, but it's so cute!

bad habit: I mentioned them above in behavioral problems but jumping, barking, and destroying things.

favorite game: jump on mommy in the morning. haha. she goes crazy when i let her out of her crate. she also LOVES playing with my roommates 4 month old male Schweeny dog, bruce. they're besties.

favorite place to sleep: anywhere I am. She has to lay where she can see me. no matter what. if she can't see me she barks and barks.

anything else: She's an amazing dog.

weight: 82 pounds and 34 pounds
eye color: one brown and one half brown and half blue and mollie all brown

behavior problems: Sophie is just a perfect little angel. Seriously. I don't know how we got so blessed! Mollie.. well, she is a puppy. She jumps, she piddles in the house and on the sidewalk instead of the yard, she chews on anything and everything...

medical problems: nothing serious, Sophie is prone to ear infections and has to have them cleaned all the time and flushed occasionally to keep them from becoming infected. She also has skin allergies and we have to give her oatmeal baths and medicated baths sometimes allergy shots. Mollie had some worms when we got her, but they are taken care of.

cutest thing ever done: Sophie curls up with my son Eli. They sleep together all the time. It is the sweetest thing. She also gives hugs. She will rub her head up agains you and wrap her paw around you. Precious! Mollie... everything she does is either annoying or cute as hell! Sometimes both at the same time.

most mischievious thing ever done: the only thing I can think of with Sophie (because she doesn't venture out much, mostly follows me around the house or naps or chews her rawhides) is that I burned something on the stove a few days ago and cracked open the front door. An hour later, I closed it and was cleaning the kitchen and a neighbor came and knocked on the door to let me know my dog was running around. I found her on our back drive, trying to get into the gate to the back yard.

Mollie is always up to no good... in the trash, into the boys toys, stealing their stuffed animals, trying to escape from our bedroom under the baby gate we have up (I put it about 4 inches up from the floor so she can't jump it).

cute habit: Sophie loves to sleep with pillows. She loves to curl up and lay her head on a pillow. Mollie is just cute all the time.
bad habit: Sophie follows me all the time. everywhere. it isn't really a bad habit, but it gets old sometimes, like when I am putting the washed clothes into the dryer (which is about 5 feet away from each other. I almost always trip over her. Mollie jumps up on people still. She just gets so excited. Sophie did that until about a year ago, so I am hopeful.

favorite food: Sophie loves most everything, but peanut butter is her favorite. Mollie likes peanut butter too. We had our first real snow in many years here, and they both enjoyed eating that, as well!
least favorite food: haven't really found anything
favorite game: Sophie loves licking peanut butter from a kong. Mollie loves to get Sophie to chase her.
favorite place to sleep: our bedroom, on a pillow (Sophie) Mollie sleeps in her crate, still.

anything else: We just love our babies! I couldn't imagine our lives without them and although we have only had Mollie for a few months, I don't remember what it was like when we didn't have her. She completed our family. They are so loving and full of joy.

cutest thing ever done: Asked in a group of kids: "Who wants one?" Bosley raised his entire arm in the air

most mischievous thing ever done: bored as a puppy- chewed a 6 inch wide section on the kick facing of my gorgeous oak patio door; then moved on to the corner door frame of a wall and removed the plaster/sheetrock as if his mouth were a glove/mitt fit; then found my brand new cell phone ... thank GAWD those days are over!

Welcome Babs and Boz :)

Seeing you are from MN, I wanted to let you know we have an OES club in the area too. TCOESC - Twin Cities Old English Sheepdog Club. The club used to have a primarily show (conformation) focus, but in recent years, with the addition of some of us newer and more diverse members ;), we have really widened our focus into all areas of OES ownership and enjoyment.

We have a FB page under the club name, and also just getting a web site up and running - www.tcoesc.org
The FB page right now has the most current updates.

We have a couple events coming up too - next Monday, Feb 25th we are meeting at the U of M Vet school in St Paul for a behaviorist presentation on human and dog body language, and then a club meeting to follow.
March 23-24 we have a booth with our dogs at the TC Pet Expo at the Mpls Convention Center.

We have a FB page under the club name, and also just getting a web site up and running - http://www.tcoesc.org
The FB page right now has the most current updates.

We have a couple events coming up too - next Monday, Feb 25th we are meeting at the U of M Vet school in St Paul for a behaviorist presentation on human and dog body language, and then a club meeting to follow.

You are very welcome, and I'm glad you and Bosley stumbled in too. :D :D
name: Deliliah Gray/Lilah

age: 5.5 months

weight: 50+lbs

eye color: beautiful brown!

behavior problems: she's still young so we're workin on several things! Jumping on people and barking, a lot! Biting is almost over :)

medical problems: none

personality type: all the things I love about OES. Happy, cheerful, loves to cuddle and very funny.

cutest thing ever done: She loves to go in the Jeep. If the ride is too short she won't get out. If i try to get her out the back, she moves to the front seat and back and forth. Its really hard to force a puppy who fills the back seat of a small jeep out :)

most mischievous thing ever done: Same as the cutest thing above.

cute habit: sleeping on her back with back paws on the walls.

bad habit: counter surfing and chewing up shoes.

favorite food: so far she likes treats and doggy vitamins.

least favorite food: loves everything so far!

favorite game: playing tug with her rope toy and chasing out two other dogs around the house.

favorite place to sleep: on the tile floor next to the bathtub.

anything else: Deliliah loves little children. No barking, jumping nothing that would scare them and they get the full body wag. Adorable.
I thought I'd post about Sally as she's the new kid on the block to many here.

Name: Sally aka Silly Sally
Age:3 years
OES/Newfie mix
History: Rescue. Found wondering on the Idaho/Washington Boarder, roamed loose for two years. Picked up by Humane Society when some townspeople threatened to shoot her. Spent 5 months in the shelter. Found her on Petfinder and made the 7 hour trip each way to adopt our sweet girl. Merlin went with us to meet his new playmate and they liked each other instantly. Merlin tried to boss her around and she wasn't having it. Led to some confusion on his part as all the others who entered our lives always listened to him but not this girl!

BFF- Snoop

Habits - Stands on hind legs, flip open cupboards and snatch food and sneak it into the family room.
"Swims" in hedges since I covered up the fishpond. Sally hates baths/showers/rain but will happily jump in hedges and do the dog paddle in the hedges until she sinks down and then proceeds to the next row of hedges.
Greets everyone walking on our block, causes all sorts of reactions from startle reflexes, laughter to "OMG what a huge dog!: Sally is aprox 6 ft tall and our gate is 5 ft.
Used to run full speed at me when I arrived home from work and let her out. My hands always in front of my body yelling...NOOOOOO Sally, STOP!
My prone body laying on the ground used to cause her to stand over me licking my face. Happy to report that after a year she stopped doing this but I still haven't found my car keys which went flying out of my hands the last time she did this.

Loveable and friendly to people. However, she's like a bull in a china shop. She loves nothing more than to snuggle beside me on the couch and place her big paw on my body as if giving me a big hug.

Runs to the TV and computer and whimpers if she hears puppies crying (suspect she may have been a mom at one point). Was spayed at had some medical procedures done at the University of Washington animal Health on behalf of the Humane Society.

Has a Newfie not a OES bark, loves water hates baths but her silliness and bounciness are OES traits. Loves any balls that make noise and does the play/bow and wants people to chase her. Smiles a lot and reminds me of Panda(one of my previous boys) in many ways.
I love Sally.
Awww Thanks - Sally would certainly give you one big Sheepie kiss Ilene.
Just reread Janet Evonovich's Motor Mouth with the SB Beans.........who sounds like Sally. Big goofy, knock you over dog with plenty of kisses. Maybe my size or quick jumping kept me from be bowled over by our SB, Newf, Irish woof, or the Pyrs, but my knees were clipped many times. Many head scrunchies and nose kisses to Sally.
