Is there some sort of supplement?

Hi all,
I have got a girl who has just come into season. She is fine for the 21 days but after for about 5 weeks she gets depressed, very clingy and sucks her feet like a dummy during this time. Have to put socks on her during this time as when I cannot watch, her obvious aniexty sets in and she starts sucking like mad & can make her paws quite red and sore.

Would love to know if there is anything in a natural supplement to give her during this time to help ease the way she is feeling. After 5 weeks of all this nonsense she snaps out of it and is sparky and bubbly again. Going through this every six months is for her, Hormones from Hell!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated to help us get through this stage after her season, I have 2 weeks left before the nonsense sets in

Are you planning to breed her, or is there some other reason you haven't just spayed her? That would take care of all of that.
There is nothing else you can do, she sounds like she is going through a false pregnancy every time, which must be very hard on her physically and emotionally. A dog produces the same amount of hormones for the same length of time whether they are bred or not, whether they are pregnant or not. If the dog has a heat cycle, their body assumes it is pregnant. Every time, for every dog. Some just handle it better than others.
I am plaaning to breed her next year
In that case I would suggest just trying to be supportive of her, maybe give her some stuffed animals to mother , hopefully then she won't suck her paws sore?
I'm not aware of anything that can be done. I know the heat cycle can be suppressed, but I am leary of giving my dogs anything like that, I would worry it might affect her future abilty to reproduce.
Good luck! :) Maybe this time won't be so bad....
Thanks Willowsprite, I will try that and see if it helps. I have always had girls and usually no problems after a season. She is the first to go through this. I thought it might of been a bit of a phantom. I am of the same opinion nothing to supress the season. Just have to put up with it and maybe mother her a bit more through this cycle. :)
