Digging

Maggie has decided to dig a shallow hole, in the dirt, in her size and lay in it. She has a bed outside in a covered patio that she loves and spends most of her down time there when she's not in the house in the other bed she loves, but this is something new she thinks is a good idea. As I've said before we rescued Maggie in November and she is 1-1/2 years old. We live in LA, California but it's not been that hot. My husband came home early from work yesterday and the minute she saw him she rolled over on her back which is something she does when she does something wrong but this was before my husband even found the hole. Has anyone else expierenced this? She is one funny dog. Our favorite line about Maggie is, she's lucky she's cute.

Abbi was 6 months old when she dug up her first tree at our last rented house. Was she a muddy mess. She had an AC crate and two well-shaded patios with beds and toys, but had to go dig up this poor little tree and make herself a hole there. I had just watered it. I bet I have photos somewhere. Was I furious? But the darn thing just was so cute. I fussed at her the whole time I tried to replant the poor tree (which did not make it) and put pepper all around it. She took one sniff and never bothered THAT tree again. But she went after a lemon tree.
What is just too much to believe is when they try to bury stuff around the yard. It is the most hilarious thing you'll ever see. You will be mowing, and there at the side of the fence a toy's arm or face will catch your eye. Sure enough your beloved dog has tried to bury it. So the next time you give her a goodie outside and she trots off with it, you follow her. And what do you find, but she's trying to bury that behind something that is difficult for you to get to. Abbi has even "hidden" things under the kids wading pool and tried to hide grooming brushes combes and blades under her crate and the couch.
My husband agrees with you, it is sure a good thing they are so adorable, otherwise you might get a bit upset. I get upset anyways. But I take photos first.
Pisco is not the digging type...but he does have unusaul habbits...he would get my slipper and hide it under the bed....
He has his own bed but doesn`t seem to like it...he loves to sleep under my bed....and if I or Cris (my husband) loose anything...the first place we look is under the bed.....
and If he does something wrong that he knows it wrong as soon as he sees me he would put his head down, make this smiling face and ran under the bed .... without me telling him that he`s done something wrong...it so funny because sometimes I wouldn`t notice it if it wasn`t for his reaction...
Big Ben was always a digger - our backyard up north looked like the moon when he was a puppy. Lots and lots of craters. For some reason he always liked to dig along the foundation (which wasn't pretty when we had a basement). Here in Texas he's dug a few times -again along the foundation. It's bad enough that he would lay in the dirt but it turned out to be his watering hole. With every storm the hole would fill up with rain and he would basically drink the muddy water. The dog who hates to go outside, especially when the grass is wet, BEGGED to go out to get a drink. I'm not sure what type of grass grows well in your area but my husband put down St. Augustine sod and it's too thick for him to bother digging. It's worked so far!
Shanti has his own place. He digger in one part of the backyard. I don't care. It is his place, and is the only place that he digs, so I don't bother to plant anything on there!!!
oooopppps.. That last email were from Shanti and me
