Rescue...

I saw this today on petfinder

http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action ... mpl=&stat=

Does anybody know anything about this rescue organization? They have 3 sheepies listed, two babies and one older dog.It just struck me funny that they had all the details about their birth, I read somewhere on this forum that anyone could post dogs on petfinder. Do you think they they might have come from a puppymill? Poor dogs, I know it's not their fault. Does anyone live near Cabool,MO?
What do you guys think?

Anyone can list a dog or dogs on Petfinder..There are restrictions like pictures.......You can tell if they are listed under that State as a Rescue or Shelter.....To list on Petfinder you have to provide them with Letter of Incorporation, Proof of 501{c3} and and letter from the primary Vet. I will check this person out..I would say it is a commercial breeder........Kaye
I just noticed there is a picture of the one little Baby..I will call the lady at Petfinder and find out.........This is in that part of Missouri where a lot of commercial breeders and puppymills are located.... Now comes the OPEN discussion......No legimate rescue says" The fee is ????if we neuter or ?if you neuter........So if this is a commercail breeder selling off their OES......GOOD THING their getting out of OES........Or it is someone that doesn't know what they are doing and knows the person getting rid of the Babies and is trying to make some money..... So this opens up the discussion of do you BUY from a Commercial Breeder or Puppymill?????? Kaye Second Chance OES Rescue
I am in Kansas City, Kansas and can help with a leg of transport for the senior sheepie. I can't keep him here at home as the sheepie we rescued in September is finally over his kenne cough and skin infection, and I don't want to take chances. But I'd love to help get the senior guy to his new home, though!

There is no way a legitimate rescue organization would adopt out un-neutered sheepies. No way.
I will take the old boy......There is an old girl in Tyler, Tx that I have to work out getting today also. Her owner died.... Kaye Second Chance OES Rescue
The one in Texas, or any of them for that matter.... do you look for tatoos and microchips to attempt to contact the original breeder?
If the breeder knows a dog of their breeding needs to be rehomed they should take the dog back and either keep it or rehome it themselves. I realize that a mill etc is not going to do that, but do you look at least to see if it IS from a reputable breeder who would want to know what is happening with their dog?
I just looked up Cabool Missouri and it is 300 miles away from me. Is anyone between Kansas City and Cabool?
Great question, Willowsprite. I imagine the rescues have their vets scan for microchips?
The Babies that come from shelters are scanned and checked for tatoos....Then they are given a certain time for the owner to come forward to reclaim their dog. We do a lot of owner turn ins for some reason..... Any responsible breeder is going to take their dog back and rehome it themselves. .........That is part of the responsibility of being a breeder...... The little girl in Texas is old and the owner died...... I called the #listed on Petfinder for these in Missouri and got a Beauty Shop......Puppymills and commercial breeders are very leary of rescue people. So I left my # and didn't mention resuce. But, my answering machine has Second Chance OES Rescue on it.....I told her I was interested in teh older boy....I didn't see the post on him or if she was asking money for him..........This opens a real can of worms........Kaye Second Chance Rescue
Kaye- Are you talking about Major in Cabool, Missouri? The listing says he's free to the right home...

Major
Old English Sheepdog

Size: Extra Large
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Notes: Major is a retired breeder. He is a purebred Old English Sheepdog, just looking for a nice cushy place to live. He was born 7-21-96, so he is nine years old. I will have pictures later,, He is a beautiful boy, very friendly and loving. Will make a great pet. His adoption fee is FREE, but must be an approved home., as he will not be used for breeding anymore. You must get him neutered and updated on shots.

Did you get my message about Bear? I got a letter and photographs yesterday in the mail... he's doing great and Chris is a very happy and proud mama! The sweet boy has found his home.

Take care... good hearing from you.

I e-mailed them about the girl, they replied saying that someone is coming to see her and if they won't adopt her they will let me know. I had a feeling that it probably wasn't just a rescue,I hope they will go to a good home. I am in north texas if there is anything I can do to help I will.

Tanya
Tanya, I will be in contact with you later today. We now have a lock on the phone if there is not caller ID the phone will not except the message. So it is easier for me to call out.......Sheepie Hugs, Kaye
I am so tired of hearing of sheepies in a puppy mill -- they don't belong there! This breed is far too beautiful to be in a puppy mill. Both of my sheepies came from a puppy mill rescue in MO -- and it makes me sick to see these other guys out there in MO too -- I wouldn't be surprised if they are from the same mill, which just makes me that much madder. We really need to find a way to start a petition and make these mill'ers lives harder to do what they do!!

I AM UP FOR IT!!!
Fianlly got to talk to the women.....We are getting the 9 year old boy..Now I got to get it figurered out when and how.....Kaye Second Chance OES Rescue

Tanya

Sheepie Hugs, Kaye
Getting Major { 9 year old }Thursday in Missouri...... She says he is a very sweet boy but has lived in a small pin his whole life...Boy Howdy is he going to have fun here runing and playing........Sheepie Hugs, Kaye
Were you able to pick him up? Eager to hear how things are going for you :D
Kaye picked him up and she has him now at her place. He has some health issues, preatty bad ear infections in both ears and probably bladder infection. He is a very sweet dog and very luck that there is someone out there like Kaye. She drove 700 miles to go pick him up.
