I rescued a dog today

My Neighbor Joe always seems to have dogs following him home.
Joe has three cats and is not around enough to have a dog.
When I saw the dog this morning I asked him about it. He said the dog has been hanging around his shop. Everyone has been feeding her.
She's beautiful. The other day Joe's Shop Landlord called Animal Control and Joe took the dog home with him. Joe didn't want to bring the dog to the pound.. he first asked if I wanted another. I said she's wonderful but three is enough for me. He asked if my SIL would take her and I said she only rescues Schnauzers. Then it hit me... My sister has been looking for a dog and this dog is a puppy around 6 to 9 mos old. She has her adult teeth. But it's obvious she's still a puppy. Her teeth have that brand new look...not a spec of tartar. She has the sweetest temperment. Doesn't bark..which was one of my sister's concerns because she lives in a townhouse community. Also she doesn't wear a leash and never leaves Joe's side. My sister will get her used to a leash in no time. Joe offered to pay for her to be spayed and for her first Vet bill.
Tomorrow I will be bringing Lucy to her new home with my sister.
I will post some pictures later. You can't help but not fall in love with this dog.

Yeah!!! Cant wait to see pic's....Lucy......
So what kind of dog are we going to see shortly?
Josh,
She's a mutt, but definitley looks to be part Golden Retreiver.
She's pretty short, but looks bigger than she is in the picture of her standing up... I was kneeling down and down a small hill
Ok here's Lucy!!! :

Here ears stand up when she is walking around. Anyone want to guess what else she could be other than the Golden part. She is probably a combination of two or three different dogs...
That's fantastic! Can't wait to see the pics! :D
Elissa, that's so funny--she looks really tall in that 2nd picture, but with the way the bumper of the car is, she also looks tiny, like way shorter than the bumper...
She's really cute!
She looks so loving.
How lucky for her and your sister.
Hope everything works out for them.
YAY Elissa! :D She looks so cute! I hope she settles in nicely with your sister! :D
That's awesome! Yay Lucy! She looks wonderful. What a honey. And you scored extra karma points that ought to help offset some of the other stuff that's been going on in your life. Nice work! Hope all are very happy.
LOL... She looks like she has golden retriever, maybe husky, and maybe some jack russell? Some kind of terrier I think...
What a great story! Elissa, you truly are an angel, arranging for Lucy's rescue in the midst of everything else you've got going on. She's such a beauty! She looks so calm and peaceful. Your sister is getting a WONDERFUL dog!
Chris
That's so cool you did that!!! I wish we could get some more!
Thanks Everyone... I guess I am used to functioning under a lot of stress.
Even though I am in crippling pain.
Just because I am having a hard time, doesn't mean the world stops.
Lucy needed a home and my sister needs a dog. She has had a very hard time since Sadie died last December. (Picture of Sadie is in the Rainbow Bridge section)
Here is another picture of Lucy with her ears standing up.

It is so funny that she looks so tall. She was in front of Joe's Truck which is a lowered F150 Ford. She's less than two feet tall.
Look at the Garage Door, she's shorter than one panel
I hope everything works out with my sister. Lucy is just so great
Elissa
Awwwww, she is a cutie!!!! :D
She is cute! You must've been posting pics as I was posting my reply "can't wait to see them".

You're an angel to Lucy! :D
Elissa-

What a nice thing you've done :D I'm happy for your sister and Lucy, hope all goes well.
I would definitely say husky is in her, and maybe a little Chow...is the tounge blue/black.

Of course the golden retriever, with the tuffs of long hair, or red border collie...to get that thin sleek look in the legs, and hind area. Collie are medium dogs as well as Sib Husky's. German shepherd also have stand up ears.

So my guess is Husky/shepherd cross, mated with a Golden Retriever/collie cross.
She's gorgeous!!! My guess would be some chow in her also, the ears and eyes especially.
:clappurple: Way to go!!!
Hi All,
Lucy is in her new home with my sister. My Dad dropped her off at my sister's house after she saw her and said she would take her. Dad showed her how to use the dog door but Lucy stayed in the backyard. When my sister got home she was greeted at the front door with kisses. My sister immediatley fell in love with her. Lucy must have gotten comfortable and came in to the house. My sister's cat came up and smacked my sister in the face and then proceeded to hit the dog. Evil Kitty. Good thing she's declawed. Right now Lucy is cuddling on the couch with my sister and they even shared a snack. After spending a bit more time with Lucy it was obvious that she was not Golden Retreiver, but Pomeranian and something else, maybe terrier. She's got those big Pom eyes and the same ears. I also recognized the fur texture as being Pom. I had one for many years. (Look at the first pictures again... She's got that whole fox look of the Pom)
She is only the size of a miniature Poodle. She will not be getting any bigger. No Chow in her at all... No blue tongue and she's way to nice to have Chow in her (no offense to you Chow lovers)

So all is well with Lucy... I will update again in a couple of days

Elissa
I admire what you did, I wish more people helped stray animals. It was very kind of you.
Tanya
Thanks Tanya. It's a really rewarding thing, knowing that I placed a dog in a home where she will be spoiled to death :D
It is obvious that Lucy had been abused. She is a bit skittish.
She's really warmed up to my sister. She slept in the bed with her and cuddled all night. She has had no accidents and basically picked up the housebreaking thing in the week that Joe had her. Joe said she'd been wondering around by his shop for a couple of months now. So she's been homeless for at least a couple of month. It's a good thing that Joe and the other people in the office complex fed her. Also if Joe hadn't brought her home last week Lucy would be in the Palms Springs Shelter with only one week left to be adopted. She probably would have been adopted but Joes didn't want to take that chance...or take a chance that she could end up in another bad home
Elissa
A beautiful ending to a beautiful story! Congrats, Elissa! And give Lucy big belly rubs from Drez and me!
Chris
What a great story! I love happily ever afters!!

Good work, Elissa! :D
Ohhhh no.......
