Dawn's Shadow Early In The Morn - Farewell My Friend

To Bubba, Annie, Katie and Tillie,

Sad the say, but Miss Shadow took her final car ride Friday afternoon. We sat out on the back step Thurs. evening saying our goodbyes, and remembering our lives together which included you.
She would have been 15 years old on Dec. 12. She was the mother of one litter of 15 puppies. Although she was deaf, her eyesight was beginning to fail her as well, she could sniff me out no matter where I was. Of course, we played a lot of hide-n-seek throughout the years. I always said she could've worked for the police department as a drug dog. Had one heck of a nose on her!
She was a faithful companion to the end. As the fatal shot was given, I held her head in my hands. As the needle was removed, I gently kissed her nose as she slipped away from me, into eternity. Deaf no more, with perfect vision and the mobility of a puppy, I'm sure she lept from my loving hands into the lap of the Lord Himself, putting a smile on His face as He watched the comical, clumsy "character" of an OES leaping towards Him.
I laid my Shadow in the lap of the Lord on the same day of the year that He had taken my mom 21 years ago. The next day, Saturday, was our 35th wedding anniversary. When I returned home without my "Shadow," that was the first time in all those years that I didn't have any of you to let in or out. I went about my business, but could not get this off my mind.
I finally went out the kitchen door into the garage and opened the back door into the kennel. I stood there for a moment with the door open thinking about all of you. Then, as I closed the door I let my "shadows," Keshia, Samson, Cody, Laci, Bubba, Annie, Katie, Tillie and Shadow out for the last time.
Saddened by the loss, but I'm not sad, I'm happy for each and everyone of you. Happy for the perfect eternal life some of you now have and happy for the lives that you Bubba, Katie, Tillie and Annie share with your new families. What more could a momma want for her babies! I will cherish the memories of each one of you individually, and the memories we shared as a family. Farewell, to you my faithful friends. Love, Mom

I admire you so much for the strength you had in finding homes for your other babies. I know it was not easy, but you did what you had to do. I pray your husband is better as well.

You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Pam, That was a lovely tribute to Shadow. God bless you and yours.
I'm so sorry for your loss... it sounds like Shadow's 15 years were wonderful ones.
Pam,

It is said the Lord doesn't give give us more than we can bear, you are the embodiment of that. I hope you find comfort in the wonderful memories you have.
Thank you everyone for your kind words of concern and encouragement. It means more to me than the mere words "thank you" can express. I would also like to thank everyone for the emails I've received. They too, have meant a great deal, I will reply asap. I apologize for the delay, but I needed a little time.

I thanked God when He led me to this site, and nothing but good has come of it. Thank you for your sympathy, but I'd much rather have you celebrate the joy in all of this. I know those babies are happy, safe, healthy and some at the gates of Heaven. I have my sad moments, but they're only moments. I have too much to be thankful for to be sad. I'm not totally dogless, I still have my 2 cyber dogs, Maggie and Nelson. Thanks again. Pam
Its so hard to lose someone so very special, i am thinking of you. I still keep my Collie's dog tag on my key ring after 10 years and still have picutres of her - happy memories xx
Im so sorry for your loss, but as per your request, I took the boys to the park today and let them run, play and have an ice cream cone in honor of your Shadow. May the rest of us be blessed with the courage to rejoice in our furbabies lives as you have.
We're sorry for your loss, and our hearths go to you in this difficult time.

Danita & Saul.
Deepest sympathies to you and your family.
Im so very sorry for your loss.Your love for our Lord shines so brightly in your tribute too Shadow.Your an amazing lady for how strong you are right now,and instead of being sad for loosening your friend of 15yrs,your celebrating the time you had,and I pray when the time comes to letting my boys go I will have enough faith and stength to do the exact same thing you are doing right now.Thank you so much for sharing your story,it really touched me.God bless you and your family.
Pam,

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful girl. I am hoping you find solace that you shared your life and she with you, for 15 wonderful years. I have no doubt you provided her with a wonderful home and made the last years of her life wonderful.

I offer my condolences to you and your hubby and Shadow is probably happily doing the meet and great with all her new found friends across the Rainbow bridge.

When she was just a baby, I had her, her mamma, her sister and Cody. The other three had already died so I know they've found one another as well. The "meet and greet" sounds so OES!!! You brought back many memories with that comment. I can see them all doin' the sheepie dance as they "meet and greet." Hope not too many two legged folks are trying to walk around in that vision.

You're all too kind and you're words are generous. Thank you.
Hi Pam,

Maggie and Nelson are so honored to be your "Cyber-Babies"! We really admire your strength and courage; the loss of your entire sheepie family in less than a year is beyond comprehension. I'm sure Bubba, Annie, Katie and Tillie miss you but G/A wouldn't let anything bad happen to them :)

Hope Mr. Winston was waiting for Miss Shadow when she crossed the bridge. You are in our thoughts.

Nita, Darrow, Maggie & Nelson
